But you’re worried about flashbacks when if the show is just Dexter’s flashbacks then how are we seeing moments he was not there for? The answer is that, the shows premise is to be a flashback of Dexters life. However it isn’t just a flashback, it’s a prequel. You can also tell this by Dexter’s narration. He generally only narrates what he himself knows.

@@hr7n it doesnt feel too fanservicey? To me it feels like the least realistic Dexter show. Writing is not bad, casting not bad but its hard to believe that most the characters maintain the same fashion, hairstyles, mannerisms etc as in the last few seasons of Dexter. Like I kind of expected everyone to have a different look and maybe by the end they have these more established quirks. It would feel a lot less like cosplay. The characters changed more between the beginning and ending of Dexter than they did apparently in the 10+ years previously.

Love the acting, how they smoothly explain so many different past behaviors/origins of his trademarks, weave in subtle callbacks to the OG series (Masuka's lava cakes), and the cinematography omg Beautiful !!!! LOVE how his birth room is Green, the opposite color of Red, the color of the room where he experienced his "rebirth" in Blood. Green is used again when Harry first interrogates Dexter's mom, signifying the beginning of his affair with her. Again, Green with Harry & his wife, as he throws the flowers in the trash...the beginning the end of their marriage. The colour symbolism thing, is this something that was said by the people making the series or is this something you speculate on because its a common thing in movies and shows. Because I feel like there will be many/most if not every colour represented somewhere in every single frame and scene, chances are if you select a colour(turquoise), attribute an arbitrary meaning to it, then go look for or wait till you find something that could connect to your previously attributed colour symbolism, then look for the turquoise item in the scene then fill the blanks, well that s just something that can be done with any images story or show. Even if instead of ignoring all the other turquoise things until one is compatible with your basic turquoise symbolism, you just had to find a way to interpret a connection into the very next turquoise thing whatever it may be, that would also be possible with any piece of media. Like some kind of symbolism paredolia or interpretation paredolia where we would see motifs and patterns of symbolism where there is nt really anything. Of course all symbolism is made up but I mean is this one you described intentional by the authors? Either way, just to be clear, I'm not complaining be it all a creative exercise of interpretation or an intentional aspect of the show.

it was smart of them to upload the first episode here. i didnt even know there was a dexter prequal in the making, this just showed up in my recomended. this prequal could be really risky but it shows promise, altough for what ive seen there isnt any actors from the original series i guess that is to be expected, nevertheless there are some great casting choices and most importantly the original dexter as the narrator/inner monolouge, that proves to me that there has been some thought put into this

Thanks for uploading. I only found out about this series earlier today when I was checking out Michael C. Hall on his 54th birthday (Feb.1) on IMDb to see if there is any movies to watch . I've only watched 8 of his movies so far though I've watch Dexter 3-5 times. I end up watching this on his 54th birthday! It's awesome, how close the new characters' voice and appearances are to the old ones. Debra Morgan is even cuter this time around and I instantly "recognized" the nurse. I'll be watching the following episodes.

Michael C Hall is known for taking his fanbase very seriously. I imagine he and Clyde Phillips intentionally combed through with a fine sieve to find the right people for the roles. the casting on this is truly remarkable.
