Instead of attempting to ‘balance’ the Obj-e by merely adjusting its least problematic stats, it might be more effective to introduce a specific disadvantage when compared to other tanks. The Obj-e, with its four tracks, should realistically have a significantly decreased hull traverse. This is one of the reasons it never went into production originally, including its weight. Given these factors, it might be more fitting to set the hull traverse speed to a lower value, perhaps under 20 or even 15. In my opinion, this could serve as a more appropriate nerf if you ask me.

See that just it, the premium tanks and rewards tanks are features you UNLOCK in the game. You don't own the rights or have any say in what WG does with those features. If WG wants to nerf a premium tank.... they should go ahead and do so, without worrying about what the sweaty, try-hards say. It's not their tank, and it never will be. You own the option to use that feature, but you don't have any say in what they do with it in the future. Once the player base understand this concept, then WG can finally move on and do what this game needs...a balance.

I never intimated that I/we own anything in the game so I'm not sure where your point is coming from/really is relative to my post or OP's post. My point was that I think the reason people were looking for more meaningful nerfs is because they expected that when it was announced that the 279 was getting nerfed people expected nerfs that would actually make the tank less effective and I don't think these nerfs met expectations and, given WG's reluctance to nerf prem/reward tanks in the past many people see this for the PR stunt that it is and fear meaningful nerfs will never actually come.

It has a lot of advantage over the other tanks and if a good player drives it on top of it, it totally unbalances the battle. When in clan wars 10 of these come out and 5 chief picks up soon

I think the 279e should be balanced with the mobility nerfs. It too fast for all that armor. If it was limited to 25kph and 30 with turbo it would be a far more balanced tank.

The tanks does not need a nerf. What needs attention is MM and just like the EBR, to not allow a 279/Chief in battle until there is another one to match it against in battle. Also, getting dropped into battles and seeing two non-platoon chieftains on the opposite team with none on the other. This is the reason people hate the tanks.

1. Object needed/needs nerf absolutly 2. it is a step in the right direction but not enough. Reload, mobility, pen nerfs are all fine but you still cant kill it. 3. i would do what WG considers and on top of that i would make the weakspots bigger and much more likely to pen. After this nerf tier10 might have a chance to fight an 279. But for tier8s it is still impossible to fight even a low hp 279.

I 3rd marked my skoda t56 in 96 games, 3.6k DPG + 400 assist, 74% win rate playing with bounty equipment but not spamming full gold, just using gold ammo when i needed it. Usually my average with tier 8 premium heavy tanks is around 2,9k DPG to 3,1k DPG, so getting around 20% more dmg at the same tier is too much. Of course, that tank is not as idiot proof as the BZ but it has more potential for good players than BZ does and it can fight against higher tiers better than BZ cuz it has more pen and more clip potential

1. I don't think it was that hard to kill, but it was no push-over either. The entire side is one giant ammo rack...btw. 2. I don't think WG has a clue what is going on in their own game. 3. 1. Oh, heck yeah. That armor (and the Chieftain) is what makes it OP. 2. Oh, heck no. What didn't WG touch? The armor. A bit of HP - doesn't matter. A bit of RoF - doesn't matter. People aren't always in a position to hold down the fire button so 'rebalancing' the fire power shouldn't be noticed. It's the armor that allows it to survive long enough to really get the most out of the gun. Now, it will just take a tiny bit longer to dominate. 3. The armor.

I disagree. If at one point you are good enough to get it then it’s no fun when the tank is too good. I like unique mediocre tanks more than tanks I don’t need to try in. Chief is harder to make work but also more solid in the scenarios it does work so it’s a more skill based tank but overall, both of these tanks were too good and even after the nerfs are still a lot better than other tanks. I think though that now the sconq is better than the chief apart from the area under the gun getting rekt by premium shells, but it feels far better to play.

I got the 260 just by playing over time. And not stressing. Also, I play on the Asia server. There is no such thing as gold spam. Gold is standard. The last one I ran into head on I bullied in my 60TP, sent him back to the garage, and I don't even think I lost a quarter of my hit points. 2. No, the implemented nerf isn't going to change much, except maybe in clan wars where DPM, hit points, and (less so) speed matter. 3. FTP players with no gold rounds would have an easier time if the cheeks of the upper plate where the current so-called "weak spot" is was a bit weaker. 5mm of armor thickness reduction would help.

1) Yes, it needed to be nerfed. 2) No, they did not. The 279e and Chieftain didn't get nerfed hard enough. 3a) 279e and Chieftain both would have the same MM rules as French clown cars, but more restrictive: They MUST be mirror-matched against a counterpart AND they can NOT see tier 9s OR tier 8s. Any matches they get in MUST be only tier 10s. 3b) 279e and Chieftain cannot be in a platoon with another 279e OR Chieftain (one or the other, not both, not 2 of one and 1 of the other, not 3 of either one). 3c) 279e and Chieftain cannot be played in Random Battles. 3d) If 3c is too heavy-handed, then the 279e and Chieftain get their turret armors both nerfed by 50-60mm each, they lose further DPM, and their top speeds cut down to a max of 40kph each if using a Bond turbo. These tanks are the most toxic f*cking things in the game, even moreso than the clown cars AND artillery.

It will probably have a harder time dealing with super heavies and you wont be able to completely cleave through lower tiers as quickly as before. But it will still be a major meta tank. Im actually okay with these nerfs as I think it should be one of the strongest tanks in the game due to the ridiculous time and effort it takes to achieve. But especially since equipment 2.0, field mods, new bond equipment and even more the tank is just next level broken and needed to be tuned. While it would be nice to see an armor nerf is some way, I understand why WG doesn’t want to do that.

The 279e and Chieftan nerfs are purely to impact the Clan Wars meta, judging by the nerfs They couldn't care less how those tanks impact Random Battles. I am so glad I got out of my abusive relationship with WG years ago. I've been so much happier, so much less frustrated, so much less anger. And all the hours I spent grinding go into other things nowdays. I shoud almost thank them for not nerfing cancer on wheels because their bullshit magic shell absorption spaced armor wheels, ridiculous mobility and laserpointer accuracy going ful speed are what finally frustrated me enough to leave. I am glad these changes are basically irrelevant, I am not tempted to go back. Well, I am sad that I cannot enjoy playing my Maus, E100 and JPE100 anymore, but even if I did return, these tanks didn't age well, don't think I would enjoy it. If you still genuinely enjoy this game, no hard feeligs, good for you. But if there's someone reading this that needs a wakeup call - this is it. Life has so much better to offer.

I'm not going to say anything you don't already know is true. They are banned from most tournaments for a reason. This minor nerf has not seen them become unbanned. I only know three people who own one of these, and all of them admitted they cheated to get them. I know a lot of people with Chiefs, and almost all of them have another Chief on their alternate accounts because they are the people with the clan contacts to get into a position to win them. You just need to play 5 games at the right time and you can have a Chieftain. This is notwithstanding the fact that finishing the campaigns and competing in Clan Wars is based on pay-to-win. I don't have either of these tanks, and I'm not bitter because I know that they are almost impossible to get for normal people who don't pay to play the game. In fact I have been in a position to win a Chief but chose not to get it. Am I crazy? No, I don't want a tank that is so OP it makes no difference to my actual skill level but lets me roflstomp everything. I don't want tanks that pollute the game for the vast majority of normal people. This little nerf is good, but these pay to win tanks are still dominating competitive events in a non pay-to-win game, or so we are told. I love World of Tanks, but I won't support corruption and profiteering. Of course, people are predictable. If they won a 279 fairly then I can feel their pain but they don't have a right to spoil the game. People with Chiefs will never admit that it was the clan that won it them for them almost always, and if they are so good that they deserve to own one they would never play it. Fact: your Chieftain belongs to the clan you won it in, not you. But you can change to the new clan with the same people and different name and get another on your alternate account because your mind is weak and your ego is your god and you only need to lose 5 games lol. It's cheating to intentionally use better equipment than your opponent. Real top players know this and have some self-respect and that is why they unanimously support nerfing them. I say nerf them further so that they are almost equal to other tanks, and equal is better. Everyone knows the truth but you listen to whiny fragile immature individuals as if somehow their shrieking noise makes any sense. It doesn't. Grow up.

In my humble opinion... When you are a newbie in tier X and fight against a obj 279 e and fv t95 it is a fcking nightmare even using especial ammo you can't pen them buy they can... My first two fights against this tank was with my obj 705 a that player kick my a ss super hard I bet he was a super alpha predator in wot... And my second battle in the e100 against the fv t95... Same sht. I can't give a good review playing this two tanks and say the nerfs work or not... But the experts will tell us... Ty dez...

A better solution would have been to limit this tank to one per team in all modes and disallow any platooning of these vehicles (similar to wheelie and arty restrictions). That way a player who worked hard to get the reward can still enjoy it, but groups of these vehicles won't dominate the battlefield all the time. I have never seem a match where a lone 279e or Chieftain was such a threat that it couldn't be dealt with by smart players. It's when you get one or two platoons full of these that they become a problem, both in randoms and CW. The best, and most fair, nerf would have been a matchmaking nerf to these tanks.

A couple years ago they did actually do a private test of the real 279 in game. Dez did a video on it. I think they put the real armor values on it, and it turned out to be ridiculously, disgustingly, good armor on the hull, turret was decent.

Well a nerf for this OP Tank which was just fueling the pay to grind, game riggers is needed and much apreachiated. However, after facing them for quite a time now I figured out how to wear them down. And BTW those who have used game riggers to grind for them the 279e aren't that good players, so in a lot of instances it is even a shame how easy you can kill one of the most prestige tanks in the game. This tank was intended to be a batch of honor for being outstanding in the game, it has become in random battles just a coin flip if this player is good or just had opened his wallet to get it. Sad that WG is not protecting his best players from such scams. But who knows who profiteers from the paid 279e grinds... just saying.

I'm a good player but not willing to deal with the RNG grind to get this tank. If I had money I'd probably pay to have someone else grind it so I could do clan wars with it. I also have a life and don't have the time to grind it anyway.

Same. I worked my butt off and eventually had to join the bond auction after three CWs to finally get one. If it's now going to be a weak, waste of my time I'm not inclined to really participate in any other events WG puts forward. Why put yourself through all that just to get mediocrity for a reward? If these tanks were such an issue in randoms and CW the answer is quite simple. Limit these tanks to ONE PER TEAM in all modes, and do not allow them to platoon together (similar to the limits on wheelies and arty). One Chieftain alone is good, but can be dealt with. It's when you get a team full that it became a much bigger issue.

nerfing the reward tank sucks imo i dont even have it but now it seems like its not really a reward anymore! they need to boof tech tree tanks to be competitive to those tanks instead they nerf progetto for no actual reason besides its popular wg logic biggest issue in the game is maps all of them are far too small for 30 tier 10's grand battle map should be the standard for 15v15 that way you actually get to use all your tank features armor view range etc! these fish bowl maps we have blow way too many 3 minute games thats not fun way too many blow out games those arent fun either!

Honestly i dont think the tank needed the nerf, experience players know how to fight it just like any other tank. Look at how you unlock the tank all that slugging through the missions unlocking diffrent tanks to get the missions done, the amount of time needed to get the tank it better be alittle over whelming for new players cause it gives them a " oh look at that tank i want that". Haveing the tank as powerful it is will pull players to do that grind but once you get it players will realise it can be fun but its a boring tank so they will go down other lines. If you nerf it too much it will just be replaced by something else then that will be nerfed becuase it will become too popular. Maybe instead balance tech tree tanks to counter the tank instead of nerfing it.

@@evildarkeevildark5943 it has a decent size weakspot in the front, right above the middle tracks and just below that little lip you can pen pretty decently, sure its a tank you cant snipe at it but if you face hug it its pretty easy to beat. Lets be honest the players that have put the months to years to get the tank are very good at the game with high winrates. Those players would majority of tanks in the game seems over powered. The tank itself should be a goal for all the players becuase the missions for it trains players to get better at the game.

To be fair, it takes a lot, a serious lot, of time and effort to get one of these. So it makes sense for them to be a cut above other tanks. Yes, it's extremely annoying to face them in random battle, but ultimately you can just die and go to the next game. What is truly ridiculous is being able to use them in clan war and other competitive game modes.

People are forgetting that theese tanks were not problem for random but for clan wars. In randoms I usually dont care when I meet chief or 279e. In cw it was awful because those battles were far more competetive. And this advantage could help win worse clans.

The changes to this and the chief are going to have the biggest impact in clan wars battles. A 9e can no longer reliably kill a 9e, as 340 heat was able to pen the middle of the upper plate. And it was already common place to push 9e's into position. But with the top speed being cut, it will just take way longer to get to the required positions. And then the chief changes destroy its current usage in clan battles, and makes it play similarly to the tier 9 Chief Proto (Though with better gun handling). Its slow, has terrible DPM, and also can no longer kill a 9e from the front (Which was iffy with the old premium pen). I understand that a chunk of players wanted these two nerfed. I just think WG did it the wrong way. Though it already seems like WG wants to put an end to competitive clan battles, as this summers clan wars changes show.
