Welcome back to another episode of the Break Room (EP 15)! This week we test out the DFXL wrench set and push it to failure to see how much torque the ratcheting wrench end can handle. There has also been some skepticism on the spline drive not being able to handle torque so we put that myth to bed also! Check it out!

Please do the boxed end side. The idea is to use the fixed boxed end to break the fastener loose and then switch to the ratchet end.

You need to do the box end. Techs will break the nut free with the non-ratching end first. Good video..

Q4 that's funny! So we can expect them by Dec. 31, 2024 is what your saying lol. The 4th quarter of the year begins Oct 1st that's 3 months . So if VIM waits till q4 Dec 31st that will be 6 months more than likely. I'm so glad I bought the snap on ones after complaining about the missing sizes . A 18mm and 15mm is a must have for this set . GM and Ford still use 11mm but not as common as the 15 and 18 .Id also like to say that spine is not going to hurt that hex socket but it will damage 3 5 and 8 grade bolts but I'm sure that's why the fixed end is 12 point . I also have a suggestion as VIM wondered about 12pt 6pt or spline but I won't post it here but I'd be glad to speak them directly if there interested imo .

What about the other end? Be cool to see what the box end can tolerate before falling. I know how VIM is with their standards of strength but I’m curious what 200% of ansi is on the other end of the wrench 😎

8-24 and SAE would be great if not I guess mountain or gearwrench. Even though GW doesn't have the offset it has a nice no skip set to 24mm

Holy crap that is amazing for the ratcheting side which is gonna be the weakest. To hold up like that is incredible as you would expext the ratchet portion to fail first

I'd like to see that wrench set offered in standard length. That unusual flex head design looks just like the Tone flex head wrenches. Why spline on the flex head end and 12 point on the fixed end? making use of existing parts? Clay needs hazardous duty pay with all the bits flying. Good Job!!!

Maybe its just me but $322 for some imported wrenches is crazy. You can get similar(non flex head though) snap on wrenches for nearly the same amount.

I agree but if they perfect this set I think it's going to be one of the best wrenches out there on the market . I have the new tekton set and just bought a snap on set but none have this unique detent flex design other then Tone that have to be imported as well . My gripe is release times I would have preferred a full set other than promises of the wrenches I need right now 9 months later.

Mac tools makes a set like these! I had a set of expert wrenches like these I traded I on the mac's. I really like my mac wrenches! They dont have the spline drive heads. I have a metric set of mountain wrenchs I use at home that have the spline drive and I'll say they don't grip the fastener head as well. I'm a union millwright so I use sae sizes quite often. My only complaint about the mac sets is they don't offer them in the larger sizes. I think the sae set stops at 7/8 and metric at 19mm and I'd really like to have a 15/16 or 24mm size wrench!! They were kinda pricey tho 😊

Never denied being made in Taiwan, like GW & everyone else's, as long as it's not China and they stand behind it 100% I can't complain. You know where to go if you want the highest price and made in USA - the truck will be by this week sometime to take your check I'm sure!

Why be stupid , regular box end wrenches are made for breaking loose a fastener . Ratching flex head wrenches are made for running a fastener .

Lets be honest it broke at 210 but the pin cracked at 200 ... Impressive but now everyone wants to see the fixed end limits. . I find that hilarious and plausible being the ratchet wrench end is broke , so why waist the opportunity being that the ratchet end is already broke and ready to be tested . 210ftlbs people and your worried about the fixed end ? Like i said hilarious ! Usually in industry standards you brake more than one then take the average of the totals anyways . Geat video i just dont believe breaking your product is its best selling feature .

the entire premise of this series is to test durability not to ensure sales but to show the product will do what it’s intended for & then some for years & decades to come, they’re making tools that you’ll buy once n never again. 🤦🏼

@@isaacisanerd6969 that's hilarious there's no such thing as a tool that's built your never have to buy again or last a lifetime without being outdated or broke and unreplaceable. VIM tools is far from the best , if that was the case they would be indestructible and they are not . Good tools good price great warranty but not the best or the most affordable considering there imported . I bought a set of xrrfm snap on wrenches for $700 and by the time I buy the missing sizes to my vim set I'll have close to the same amount of money as a VIM set that are nowhere near the quality . The hook line and sinker for me on the VIM was the detent flex head .
