How to install the DHM S1 cam, adjustable cam gear and Moritech clear cam cover. This cam is by far the number one thing I suggest everyone try and get they’re hands on, if you can manage to that is. This is the top of the top for cams for the Grom and have the most aggressive profile you can run on the stock valve train. When installing the cam you are going to need a flashed ECU from DHM or an aRacer with an AF2 module. You don’t need an adjustable cam gear and the stock one would work perfectly fine, but if you do want to go with an adjustable you can get one from CJR. Mine is from Yuminashi but I highly suggest you stay away from them. CJR has all the info you need to use they’re cam gear for all year Groms. But again I suggest you just use the stock cam gear if your not knowledgeable on ignition timing and tuning. If your running an adjustable cam then you need an aftermarket cam cover. I used a Moritech cam cover, but you can also use that if your using the stock cam gear as well.

Moritech clear cam cover: (add a second CJR sprocket but on the drop down choose the Moritech clear cam cover option)

I definitely recommend it! I love the look of this one. I might swap out for an otb one only cause I have the avail cam vent and this one is kinda bulky especially with that on there

This may seem elementary but, if you place cardboard under your bike before you start wrenching, there is a lower chance of damaging parts on impact with your cement garage floor.

I been wanting to get a mat for my bike I just haven’t been willing to spend the money on one lmao. The wheel I placed on a thick rag to not scratch up the wheel or rotor but the chain and spacers and what not definitely fell on the concrete. One of those things I realize afterwords I probably should have done something about 😅

On my 2021(2022 USA) Grom here in Thailand,I've got the DHM S1 V2 cam with a Revolution cover (similar to the Moritech one, but it has a timing arrow!) I'm kinda waiting on the Avail vent cover to arrive so I can do all that at the same time! I'm going with the Stock Cam Gear as well to play it safe... and well as the CJR Flash to the ECU.... for an intake I'm running the TST cover plate on the stock air box with the Sprint Air Filter and a Zoom Brute Exhaust as well. I'm waiting on a Kitaco Oil Cooler also....... Question..... are you running the stock valve springs or did you upgrade to a heavier spring? I'm also looking at the YUMINASHI Titanium valve spring retainers as well.

hey sorry bro i just seen this comment. I ran stock until I upgraded to the DHM S2 camshaft and went with the DHM valve springs. Theyre not the ones that come with the S2 though theyre a step softer but they work great. Personally I avoid yuminashi at all costs. theyre parts always gave me issues and theyre customer service is terrible to say the least. but thats just my opinion

Good video man, I recently installed the cam and piston on my Grom and mine started up quickly but now it won’t run properly, do you think that could be the ecu not adjusted yet or something else?

Thank you bro! And sorry for the late response. What do you mean not running properly? Does it idle or and run but not great or is it not rideable?

Hi..... I would like to ask for information, were you able to reset the ecu of the grom?
@egoboost9952
@egoboost9952 Жыл бұрын
Hey how are you? I have reset my ecu but it wasn’t until recently. When installing the cam you need your ecu to be flashed by DHM or CJR for it to be able to run correctly. So you would have to mail them your ECU and they’ll flash it and send it back. It takes about a week maybe 2 weeks tops but it depends on how busy they are. Just resetting the ecu won’t allow it to run with a cam. If you do an intake or an exhaust then resetting is all you would have to do, but even if you don’t reset it’ll eventually run better, resetting just speeds it up. I hope this helps

@@egoboost9952 well thanks ...... in fact for the moment I only have the drain, I was trying to reset by joining the blue and green wires as seen in the various videos the only problem the light does not flash it stays on. I've read that other people have had the same problem....

17 mm to rotate counter clock.

Good point I don’t think I mentioned that these spin counter clockwise. I know you really shouldn’t spin it the wrong direction either. Ill go back a few teeth at most but try not to any more for that. I believe it’s bad for the bearings? I could be wrong in that but I know it’s not good to do it

How did everything run when you were done?
@egoboost9952
@egoboost9952 2 жыл бұрын
What’s up bro? Everything ran amazing! It wakes the bike up a lot for sure. You will definitely need your ECU flashed or run an aRacer with AF2 module and auto tune, but after about 25 miles or so of e ECU readjusting it felt like a brand new bike. Be aware too it requires another break in period of roughly 500 miles, and do an oil change after that also
@Image-X
@Image-X 2 жыл бұрын
@@egoboost9952 What break in was required? Cam surfaces? I know one will be needed with the high compression piston because of new surfaces mating but I wouldn’t think a cam needs 500 miles to break in. I do have an ARacer. Just waiting to get my Yoshimura dual exhaust on Tuesday so I can utilize the AF2 with it.
@egoboost9952

@@Image-X anytime internal engine parts are changed out it requires some breaking in. I agree the piston will require it a little more than the cam, but it’s better safe than sorry
@egoboost9952
@egoboost9952 2 жыл бұрын
@@Image-X not gonna lie, your comment sparked my curiosity and I looked into it and it looks like cams don’t always need a break in it depends on the set up. I’m not sure if our bikes do or not so I’m gonna look more into it. I do still believe it’s better safe than sorry, but it’s definitely interesting and good to know. I’ll report back on what I find out

@@egoboost9952 you don´t need a break in for just a cam. Break in is only for pistons.
