Those types of beats are the reason why the music can't buss a foreign. People don't want to hear toy riddims that are Hip-hop ripoffs. Them want hear Reggae!!!!

@@inquisitive871 yes we do have a decline but producers like Stephen nuh responsible fi that. I don't know which world you live in but I'm talking about "Di Genius" here and if you have been following music you would have known that Di Genius is one of our biggest names in producing and he is also well respected overseas. The classic riddims weh Stephen produce is top notch suh go oneside wid ur nonsense. Both Mavado and vybz Kartel got a lot of momentum internationally from the beats that he made so before you talk gwaan go do your research. I guess you are watching billboard, BET and MTV and various other foreign media as means to measure the succes coming from his camp. Learn this, when a artist go international it don't just happen overnight firstly, you need a good management behind you that can get you record deals, market and promote your music properly, get you appearances with other acts whether here or overseas, get you interviews with some of the most popular radio stations and TV shows, schedule proper touring and bookings and all of that. You don't just get up today and become a superstar so don't make a hideous comment bout those are the beats that make people a foreign nuh wah hear di man dem its deeper than that. Thats crap...furthermore, there is both a market for traditional Reggae and Dancehall internationally so stop chat crap. Wether in the 80s,90s or 2000s, is not everyday you see a independent label artist just get up and tear up billboard apart from a one and two runaway songs that will slip through the cracks a few times each year.

... what he said ... PLUS ....... by the end of 2013 ... Both STEPHEN and DON CORLEONIE had separated themselves from the rest of the Jamaican producers like Rvssian, Chimney, Cashflow etc ... Kartel was working almost exclusively with the likes of NOT NICE and ANJU BLAXX while Stephen and Don were flying out to work on major label projects like TONY SANTOS / MAVERICK / MAJOR LAZER etc .... Not only was it physically taking them away from their homes, but the MONEY was a guaranteed check PLUS royalties forever - since those songs get properly monitored for airplay, performance and appearances in TV/MOVIES etc .... When they produced their own music outta JA ... even the biggest hits by Kartel or Mavado were not making them (the producers) anywhere CLOSE to the money they would get for working on an album track of a major label act ..... They paid their dues, it was time to reap the rewards. Ps. STEPHEN is the producer of the song on John Legend's new album featuring KOFFEE.

Like you go party and hear American hip hop and then when dancehall start play ah di same rassclaatt hip hop sound yaw hear so the people dem just stand up ah boring. Why we haffi follow rass American sound fa... But that just my feeling still... But from what I see dancehall nah really buss in American like it used cause even foreign people know it sound boring to listen American hip hop, then haffi listen to Jamaican Fuckry hip hop... Bullshit. Excuse my French mi so vex with dancehall today. Soca sound better today cause it sound original. Fiwi music sound like other people shit now. Fuckry gwaan

Dat me ah say!!!! Them yutes nuh know Reggae music!!! Just because it mek a Jamaica, nuh mean it Dancehall. Call it whatever, but don't call it Dancehall because it's not. For a riddim to be Reggae, it has to contain the original elements of what makes a riddim a riddim. If there's no Skank, One Drop, snare, and the syncopated beat, then it's not a riddim. The Kelly brothers incorporated the orginal Reggae characteristics and transformed the sound. The following generation didn't. Them just build a whole bag a F'ry with Pro Tools and autotune. Tell me which Stephen beat is timeless? Which buss a foreign? Coxson Jammys Scorpio Steelie and Clevie Bobby Digital Kelly brothers Any riddim from these producers are immortal. They will move any crowd a people when played in open space.
