*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*

it is possible but not verry common, as most people with type 1 diabetes become aware of something is going wrong at age 10-15. If she didn't lost any weight and doesn't seem sleepy and unergetic, it can be just she likes drinking water. People with type 1 diabetes loses weight in time. Any case, i don't know really how much she drinks out of ordinary (nor know whats normal for babies) so if you are worried, it may be best to go to a doctor and get it checked.

A referral to an endocrinologist might be advised. A third type of diabetes called diabetes insipidus causes thirst and excess clear urine. It's nothing to do with blood sugar, rather how the body regulates fluids in the hormonal system. It occurs from birth in those affected.

Many writers in this field contradict some of your statements. Many point to Hyperinsulinaemia. Their progression starts with regularly raising blood glucose by consuming starch leading to regularly raised insulin and it is this that initiates and worsens insulin resistance. The longer it takes for the glucose to be moved into insulin resistant cells signals extra insulin to do the job. This increase in insulin ups the degree of insulin resistance leading to the raising and duration of insulin secretion etc etc. As insulin is the hormone of storage the Hyperinsulinaemia causes you to put on weight. T2D is not caused by obesity. Both T2D and obesity are the result of insulin resistance. For a long time, your blood glucose tests show no problem cos the raised insulin is dealing with it. Eventually, the insulin resistance is so bad that your pancreas cannot produce enough so your blood glucose test starts to rise. And worse still, if your Beta cells wear out, or ectopic fat fills the pancreas (fatty pancreas) then your insulin levels start to go down and your glucose levels climb into the T2D category.

Just in time for my diabetes exam tomorrow :) Also, we've learned that with type 2 diabetes the actual problem is that there is an increase in insuline resistance so the pancreas makes even more insuline in response to this, and because the cells are so resistant you just get hyperinsulemia and hyperglycemia.

Armando, at 5:56 you sad that without enough insulin, insulin resistance is developed. Somehow I'm not sure that is the case, cause insulin sensitivity is restored if you have lower insulin level in body through time. I didn't find any studies which implies that lower insulin level will lead to insulin resistance. Can you post your resources about this particular? Thank you in advance.

You are correct. Type 1 diabetes is where insulin-dependent. Type 2 is insulin independent, because you have the insulin there but your cells are not sensitive to it. This video is highly inaccurate with respect to DM2 mechanism.

Right, that's what I was thinking. It is usually due to lifestyle choices, leading to consistently high blood glucose, constant secretion of insulin leading to receptor de-sensitization or re-uptake hence cells no longer respond to insulin.

My thoughts too. He never explained why insulin resistance happens that leads to Type2. If he can eloquently detail the physiological pathway of excess glucose entering the endothelium of the blood vessel causing a chain reaction that lead to blockage, why can’t he give more details why the Insulin receptors of the cells stops responding to insulin and receive the glucose for fuel or for storage? If it is hereditary, are there genes that synthesize proteins or other hormones to “desensitize” insulin receptors? Or how obesity contributes to resistivity of these receptors? Or do these receptor degenerate with age? How come there are young-ish people developing T2D? Or what are the mechanisms of gestational diabetes, which shed light on how to avoid or cure it. Or why diet was never mentioned as another contributor (quantity and quality of macros we eat : carbohydrate or protein); or what is the interplay of glucose and fatty acid inside the cell that may cause insulin resistivity?

From what I studied the first issue is the insulin resistance and that the decrease of insulin is actually the result.. That’s because beta cells get larger and increase in numbers because they think the body needs more insulin (because of high blood glucose due to the resistance)and eventually die. And when they die you get lower insulin secretion

Thank you for putting this together. you should know, however, that the endothelial lining is actually part of the tunica intima and not a part all by itself :-) Also, arteriosclerosis is a major category to which atherosclerosis is a subcategory (The other subcategories are monckeberg medial sclerosis and arteriolosclerosis)-- they are not two separate entities.
