I have a beagle. I walk him 20 minutes almost every time he needs to go out. If you have a dog, walk them. It’s good for both of you!

The net carb point was HUGE for me. I got some low net-carb bagels and was really excited to try them, but they drove my blood sugars sky high when I took a bolus based on the net. For some time, I had an endocrinologist who tried to push a zero carb diet. I did lose a lot of weight, but was miserable and felt horrible. Eating smarter, healthy carbs works much better. I've found that ALL forms of stress raises my blood sugar, heat, illness, worry, etc. Great tips.

Facts: When I don't sleep enough, my blood sugar remains elevated. When I sleep well, it plummets to a healthy range. For fiber, YES, it works, but unfortunately, carbs come attached with them with a lot of meals. I used to drink 3L of Pepsi a day, not I'm on Pepsi 0 (no carbs, no sugar). Tastes just as good. And yes, even mild activity helps tremendously. It trains the body to get to work. And stress...undeniably a killer. Thanks for posting this. It's good common sense and simple stuff and Iknow for a fact that it works.

For a couple years now I get between 2 and 4 hours sleep a night and it definitely affects my health!! I've seen two different doctors who've given me good advice but didn't work. What finally is helping is concerted exercise and no booze at night.......and yes, my A1C has improved enough that I was taken off insultin.

The one thing I learnt from my doctor; Portion sizes. You said it to. I found I can eat basically what I wanted as long as I minded portion sizes. Even foods that are guaranteed to not raise bloodsugar; if I eat a bigger portion than needed my bloodsugar will spike. However; i have a job that keeps me in movement and on my feet for 7-9 hours every day and I walk or bike to and from work every day(5km each way), so I have a slightly higher than average activity in my day to day life.

Thanks for this content. I’m sure that you are aware that there are varying opinions out there about what is the ideal range where we should keep our glucose levels. The American diabetes association recommends a range between 70 and 180 while Dr. Bernstein recommends much tighter control to avoid complications. I’m curious what is your approach. Where do you like to set your target glucose and what range do you strive for? Are you aware of any research that has suggested an ideal glucose range for us type one diabetics? Are you currently on an insulin pump?

Hi Scott. I don't know how to meditate & have no interest in learning how to meditate. What other suggestions do you have to deal with stress besides meditating? I live in an apartment & I get very annoyed when I hear my neighbor slam the door & that would raise my stress level. Thanks.

Do the Soleus Pushup to Lower Blood Sugar. Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and your body relaxed. Keeping the front of your foot on the floor, raise your heels to their full range of motion. Release to allow your heels to return to the floor. And repeat

You gotta get yourself exhausted before sleeping. When I had issues for a while, I began housecleaning or taking out the trash or just doing something that would make me break out a sweat. Then, after a shower, I'd faceplant onto my bed. You almost have to get mad at insomnia, because it could become a habit.

@@YankeeWoodcraft thanks for the advice it’s mainly my low blood sugars stop me from going to sleep I’m waiting to get a insulin pump hopefully I can then keep my bg in range & get back to going to sleep at night

Do some exercise during the day. When you're ready to go to bed, focus on your breathing. Then with your eyes closed think about being asleep. Just calmly think you're sleeping. Good luck.

Physical exercises do not remove glucose from the blood, exercise transforms glucose into fat and stores it in the liver. Unfortunately. The best way to eliminate glucose are fasting

Let me make some comments about lack of sleep. That is silly The best think to do if you can't sleep is take a FS. And I try to keep early am FS at 100 Improving BS level depends on reducing carbs and knowing how to use insulin. MDs DO NOT KNOW HOW TO MANAGE DIABETES. ANY SUGAR should be avoided. I LOvE naan bread and I can control the rise in carb BY KNOWING HOW TO USE INSULIN. You fail to mention the MOST important factor is knowing how to use insulin. Dah of coarse ex exercise is important.STRESS e eryone has stress Check FS and KNOW HOW TO USE INSULIN I am an MD w 20 yrs of treating my diabetes. My a1c are under 5. Excuse my texting. Good luck find8ng an MD who can help you.. Mds are useless.
