The Herald Wolf was still fighting Mephisto whether you want to admit it or not and was just a fraction of his strength. That said, I fully expect the next Xpac to be *THE* fight vs Mephisto or at the very least see other Prime Evils come back in some shape or form followed by whatever next Xpas to be about the Heavens coming back and killing a Prime Evil. Regardless, Vessel of Hatred isn't that bad as people are hating on it (Pun Intended). Is it Ultimate Edition material? No. But the base price worth? Yes.

Blizzard is trying to make Diablo 4 into WoW with yearly expansions (d4 has some mmo gameplay mechanics already). There will be a expansion every year and it will go on for many many years. One-two expansion for Diablo, repeat for Baal, repeat for Belial, Azmodan, the Angels especially Imperius. It takes a long time to progress through the story and the world. I thought more info would be in this expansion on where and why Tyrael ran away. Also, no Lorath this Neyrelle centered expansion?? What we got this expansion was only more fleshed out lore on Akarat...

Diablo III's story had issues, but at least it dared to have a story that moved the series forward. We got to see heaven's workings, the return of the nephalem, the lesser evils had story moments, Diablo Invaded Heaven, Malthael killed half of humanity, and all the characters you cared about were still there. Then they threw all of that away and made this absolute personality and story void.
