I hope Magic and rare items will follow the same path as they do in d2. Being Magic can roll higher than any items in the game (3 to certain skill trees, Jeweler's, 40mf, and affix/prefix like that) and rare items have the ability to roll the best items in the game, even though you will never find a eth rep, cruel, knights, Fools, 40ias, 2os divine scepter with 5 to FoH and 3 to conviction, it was a nice thinking one day it would come. Also a free market is what kept d2 going for 20+ years. So I hope they have plans to keep the game fresh because without free trading it might go flat faster than they think

Glad to hear that the action during gameplay is slowed down and not all these insane visuals to where you don't know what's happening on your computer screen. D2 did this well as far as pacing of a fight with the exception of boss mechanics being too simple. The clips that were shown about it being dark as well as the music makes me happy so far. Now I'm mostly worried about item bloat when it comes to sets and legendaries that D3 had to the point where rares and magic items didn't matter all too much it felt in the time I played. Legendaries need to be super limited (like grail limited for the really good ones) even more so than uniques. Power level on them also needs to not be super nuts for the people who acquire legos to the ones that don't have any. Hoping the runes are closer to D2 style but more balanced compared to the other items. Others have stated that it's nice to gamble or find a rare item that can be used for builds like 40MF fortuitous rings you can't find on other item types. Blizzard constantly falls into the trap of not separating pvp itemization and skills with pve. It's impossible to balance monsters with all these abilities and HPs to that of another player's abilities, items, and smaller HP pool. I don't want endless systems like paragon leveling, rifts, or all those Inferno levels. It's normal, nightmare, and hell. Divide areas, dungeons, etc of the map like that would be amazing. I'm super curious how farming is going to go with it being open world compared to resetting games or maps in D2.
@Daniel-rd6st Жыл бұрын
I honestly liked how D2 handled character progression. You could get maybe 90% of power out of your chosen build in a reasonable amount of time, faster if you had a good mf build to farm items. This allowed you to explore many different classes and builds, . In D3 they tried to archieve this with the seasonsystem which mostly forces you to start from zero every couple of months. Both has his prs and cons but all in all i do prefer the D2 way.
@MrHuntingClaw Жыл бұрын
Honestly, D2 did a buncha stuff right which D3 utterly failed in, first and foremost, a reasonable power ceiling for most of the content. You could play nearly anything in D2 and still manage to beat nightmare and potentially even hell. Sure, you may have required crazy bonkers builds to do uber Andariel and the like, but how many people actually ever did them anyway or even knew about them. D3 items compared to D2 items were too overloaded, oh you didn't have that one unique which boost your dmg by 4-20x your normal dmg? Guess you will not be able to farm this even harder difficulty which by the way is like some perpetual motion machine where if you get strong enough for it, ya won't be strong enough for the next difficulty above it, and this will go on FOREVER. One specific single item never had that number bloating in D2 simply by itself, that was only in D3, seeing some of the items in D4, it seems they may be number bloating here too, making anything subpar feel weak and worthless after the first few hours.

There is some conflicting information here. In Rhykkers video he said that legendary essences or whatever they're called are NOT tradeable, but that trading will be based heavily on trading great Rare Items that you can then imbue with the Legendary affix that you already have. Also the way the developers said it in the last interview I saw, it is not that it's more work to respec than to start a new char, but just that it won't be possible to respec an endgame build daily because the cost is higher. So it's more like, if you want to respec a high level char, you have to expect that you will play that build for at least a couple of days -> week, before you can respec again. Obviously if you have a char and farm for 4 weeks endgame content, you should have enough resources to respec that char multiple times, they just wanted to stop the D3 version of "i'm doing bounties, click, doing rifts, click, doing GR150, click, going for set-dungeons challenge, click" and play 4 different builds on 1 char in the same hour.
@curtisking6696 Жыл бұрын

On the topic of trading, I remember an early discussion where it was mentioned that magics and rares to be valuable. So, being able to trade affixes makes sense. You can "build" a really good rare out of them. This takes in account a crafting discussion in the quartlilies as well. I like this. I hate in d3 that magic and rares suck after leveling. I like in D2R farming bases and having useful magic and rare items that you can use, even after completing all the acts and are farming higher content. You can do ubers and clone with these. You only need "end game gear" if you want to farm faster, which really means "farming p8 efficiently". Just a thought.
@geistmachine2373 Жыл бұрын
I recall the same that the best items are going to be from a godly rolled rares and magics as a base, upgraded in quality, and having a legendary power imbued. Trading will likely revolve around trading good bases. Restricting trading ancients and beyond prevents people just making trading the best finished items and going from zero to hero without any effort. If this turns out to be true, it’ll make for healthy trading that requires understanding of what you want to make.

My biggest concern is that even with Diablo 3, the initial impression was quite good, but it never went beyond the initial introduction to anything really worthwhile. The expansion fixed a few things, but they front loaded a lot of great stuff, and then it sort of petered off quickly into the mundane. I was hoping for more of a challenging and tactical experience mixed in with the action-oriented combat that it was advertising, and never really got it. It didn't help that they had some really bizarre ideas about looting and customization that ended up hurting player expression and engagement. The long term is where it always suffers, and it's something no reviewer ever gets a chance to really engage with, nor do they tend to go back and do a long term analysis, except for the dedicated. I started with Diablo 1, and D2 was a step up, with D3 being a few steps down, and it's expansion being a step and a half back up. My hope is that with the new designers in charge, the design philosophy has also changed. The big thing that kept people coming back to Diablo back in the day was it's addictive replayability, and I really hope they can create that for 4.

Your biggest concern SHOULD be cosmetics and Blizzard's monetisation models. This idea that cosmetic microtransactions are somehow 'OK' is utter idiocy: 1. Item cosmetics are meant to be an indicator of player status and power, cosmetics break this. 2. It encourages devs to prioritise cosmetics as they are the paypig, rather than in-game, achievable item sets. 3. It encourages devs to make the cosmetic items the most attractive, or players will just stick to what's achievable in game. 4. It removes content that should be achievable by PLAYING the game, and places it with a UI feature and real money. Yawn.
@vholst Жыл бұрын
@@Grumbledookvid It's a joined concern then, because selling skins removes them from play, or trivializes them if they are part of play, because why play the game if you can just buy the end game outright. Selling skins instead of them being rewards sucks, but if the actual gameplay loop sucks, then it's not even worth playing, with or without the microtransaction model.

Many argue that end game bosses are too much but I have no complaints about that. It's a fair reward for mastering the game. Anyway, overall, I just think there are a ton of things POE does right in the genre and Diablo could get inspiration from it while keeping true to the style of the OG. After all, POE took cues from Diablo. I think it's good to have both games offering a different take on the same concept but D4 has a lot to live up to and exceed. Blizzard have had a ton of time to work it out and a lot of criticism from the hardcore D2 following ^^ Should be interesting. Looks promising so far.

If they restrict trade im not playing tbh. I think trade being fully open is one of the things that helped create community in d2. You can't necessarily get all the loot you want on your own. @@justincampbell3132 Yeah I hate that with D2, I know people are licking D2's ass but let's be honest it have a lot of flaws with todays standard. Like no real end-game, sparse stash room, need for half inventory filled with potions and stupid charms. All that could have their own smaller belt or stash slot and most likely would in modern games. The stop motion of spells and such is not really that great either considering the flow Diablo 3 got with the rifts which was a nice thing in it's own way. And even though D2 have a lot of great and iconic sounds that are top notch a lot of the sounds are also crappy and makes no sense to what is happening on screen. Spells and skills GFX for some characters are a bit underwheling as well even if I do enjoy the less glow and sparks and so on that fly in overload in D3 even from arrows and melee heroes. The bigger skills still need to have some meat to them and they don't always in D2 which makes your pretty high leveled character still feel like a level 1. So a nicer progression of getting stronger and looking more badass with more and more great looking skills is a must to engage me these days. More blood, teeth and sweat flying from enemies when hit and less sparks and japanese inspired anime effects in my opinion.

Not sure how much integrated they are with the game system (skills, buffs etc), but I would prefer something less "flashy" - It takes away from the darkness and grittiness. It feels like Sonic will jump in to collect coins >o< 2) No more inventory tetris - neither cold or hot on this one - probably less trips to town = more time out in the wild 3) The inventory and the item artwork is almost identical to D3 - not a big fun - it always felt a bit lifeless, like an afterthought - I would prefer for them to try something new - it's not like this was a major concept success in D3 4) Did I mention the health globes? >_< 5) The UI seems a bit....small? Not enough gravitas maybe? - can't really put my finger on it 6) Damage numbers are identical to D3 - not a fan - I guess you can just turn them off 7) I do like the environments and the overall atmosphere - at least from what we have seen so far 8) Skill tree looks decent - I think it will work 9) Character customization - I dig it - let people create and live their fantasies! - looks deep enough (but not too complicated to bog you down) 10) No health globes plz - it will hurt my moew-moew :(

I like the approach they took with character progression better than diablo 2's this time around. The main problem with diablo 2 is to be efficient u had to do a "leveling build" to get through normal and nightmare fast, and then use 1 of ur 3 free respecs later to go to ur endgame build. And then to get more respecs you have to farm for the token which was quite annoying. Now not only do u not have to do this leveling build anymore and can just play whatever path you like the look of, ur respecs are only limited to how much resources you have. I know many ppl may think this is "less hardcore" but imo its not. Being more restricted on builds isn't hard, it just limits ur freedom on how you want to play and many players like myself find it annoying. It is not a huge problem in diablo 2 since diablo 2's length is not that big and you can get through normal in an hour easily, that is why hardly anyone complained about it because it was just a minor annoyance. This game however seems like its going to be much longer than diablo 2 (especially since they announced seasonal updates with new acts added to the story and stuff like this), so it makes sense to make the builds less restrictive this time around.
@buffalotitan6123 Жыл бұрын
I guess making you think about the choices you make is bad. Tokens added another level of depth to the game, and God forbid if you have to farm them then randomly come across another good item along the way. Lets just give everyone what they want at all times. Progression in Diablo 2 was basic, which was a good thing. There was no specific leveling build because there were no immunities until end of Nightmare beginning of Hell difficulty, so what are you talking about? You could literally be any build up until that point, and all you needed was a sunder charm to literally do any build you wanted. You must have started D2 when D2R came out because your response reminds me of a retail WoW player.

@zachkoa Жыл бұрын
@mindlesstube agreed. I don't wanna dump most of my gameplay hours into leveling up new chars trying to figure out the best build. And I'm sure the casual player doesn't want to either lol

Put a huge in-game coin $ cost on it after the first batch of respecs. That'll balance it out.

can you play with WASD for movement on keyboard?

This time i will definitely wait and observe the game for at least a month after it is released before i purchase it. Won't make the same mistake as i did with D3 ten years ago. I have been playing D2 (now D2R) for 20 years and if D4 turns out like D3 then it is D2 forever for me.

Smart decision. People must stop giving money for half baked products.

How did u not even talk about the actual itemization / affixes on the gear. Weapon dmg, stats, unique and in-depth affixes, etc.. Prolly cause it’s exactly like d3, which blows.

Class design, tree design, and boss difficulty are very important. It seems Blizzard did not want to take a lot of risk with the tree, and basically, if you want to play a fire sorcerer, you place points into the fire abilities in your tree. POE is extremely difficult, and not for everybody, I feel D4 could have went half way, but instead, they did not take any risk. I doubt there is any great combo to discover in the tree, most characters will be exactly the same with the tree they designed.

Completely false .. there many many build options

Am I the only that finds very unappealing all those big dmg numbers? In the video we saw transition from 12 dmg (which is fine) to 3000 dmg very quickly in a progression I assume is from lvl 1 to 25

great comments, was it made on gunpoint?

it was. no probable possibility that the game is even remotely good.

Thanks for you video mate. And well that's too bad news. As far as i understood from your video there is no ultra-rare uniques like in D2(griffon and etc for example) and there are heavy restricted trade. Let's be fair - it's garbage Diablo 3 system again. There are no excuse for this. Honestly i probably wouldn't even buy this game.
@kolai1987 Жыл бұрын
I didn't hear this in the video. I heard that you can play a build from the jump without needing to grind for a specific piece of gear that makes the build 'viable'. I heard in the video that there still will be chase items to grind for.
@Dbrunski125 Жыл бұрын
Nope there is ultra rare chase items in the end game that are very difficult to find and are big power gains for your build. It differs from d2 as in builds aren't locked behind insane to find items to be viable. Like how a javazon requires griffins and infinity merc to be worth using.
@FoodDipFan Жыл бұрын
@@Dbrunski125 To be fair, Diablo 3 also has those items too. You have to grind for ancient primals which requires you to wade through thousands of legendaries.
@Dbrunski125 Жыл бұрын
@@FoodDipFan yup that is accurate

@@Dbrunski125 unless things are changed from the close beta, i doubt there are really this super rare power gain gear for endgame, or does they mean the ancestral tier gears, then it is going to be a very boring endgame gear grind, due to the fact that you can get the same uniques from a lower tier, say sacred tier, so i presume what the dev meant is, you will still do fine with your build using this sacred unique but the super rare one is the same unique but an ancestral tier (yes that is super rare from the beta). Just my 2cent

The affix or limited trading is just a game of semantics. Its will be min-maxed quickly, and those are either valuable/rare or not. If they are not trade dies off quickly because no one cares and they focus on the valuable rare end game items/mods. If they are then you get bots and it turns into exactly like D2 with all trading focused on those valuable items. Its an illusion of choice that most people dont really understand, and later on will see what happens
