Thanks for this video. I hurt my knee while crawling, turning on it on a hard surface. Immediate intense pain on kneecap area, no popping sound or locking felt. I could stand and bend but could not put weight on it as it just happened. There was minor swelling later in the day but not very big, slightly larger than the other knee, no redness or heat that I could notice. The rest of the day I had full range of motion, I can move my leg without pain in any direction I want. Now, when standing, putting weight on it with my leg slightly bent about an inch forward I feel intense pain, this keeps me from walking without very intense pain. I can stand up and hipper bend knee up towards my chest or hipper extend the leg down, I can take leg away from the body, or lift it from lying position (foot up, tensing quads) even twist or rotate both ways and feel no pain at all, but standing at slightly bent position It hurts bad, if I continue the bending knee motion (lower myself while standing) just a bit forward passed that point pain goes away, I could even kneel all the way down and raise up again without any pain at all but that tiny spot/position is very painful. Palping my knee and moving the patella all around produces no pain except poking slightly above, at top edge of patella (towards quads) I feel slight stabbing pain very similar to the one felt as I stand and bend the way I describe above. Could this be bursitis? Once again, I have full mobility of leg in all directions without any pain, just that particular spot when standing and knee is slightly bent forward an inch the pain appears and it's pretty intense. Now, if I replicate that movement while laying down in bed, I feel no pain at all, it only hurts as I stand. Now this morning I feel a bit better, the pain at that particular position while standing is a bit less than yesterday. If not considerably better by tomorrow I will go to doctor but what do you think?

Awesome video thank you. I was down on the floor on my knees for over an hour and I got up and had same symptoms as you. Spoke to physio therapist over phone he said is bursitus/ patellofemoral syndrome. He gave me exercises to do but not helping. They seem to heal and when I got down on my knees again to pet my cat they start to get irritated and swell up again. It has been 6 weeks now and not sure what to do next. I get clicking when i squat, mild pain, scrunching called crepitus and all started after kneeling on my knees for so long. If I can ask for your kind advice would be much appreciated :)

Any advice for recovering from lingering bursitis due to a fall? I tripped over my large dog and landed left knee down on concrete flooring. My doctor said it was bursitis (same location you described in the video) and recommended rest, ice, a brace, and Tylenol. That was in August. 90% of the time I have no pain, but I sometimes have lingering soreness and I have to be extremely careful when kneeling. If I accidentally rock onto the upper portion of my knee and bump it, it’s immediately severe pain. Is it just something where it’s going to be sensitive for the rest of my life?

thanks for your question and sorry to hear about your injury. it's not unusual for the bursa to remain sensitive for a while. In general terms for bursa problems, I recommend exercises to tolerance, range of motion, balance training and light massage - over the course of 3-6 weeks all of that activity can help the bursa remodel, desensitize and progress. A local PT can help with all that too. There's hope still!

So what if I had a swollen bursa and it was diagnosed as prepatellar bursitis... but when they drained it... it was all blood! What's that mean? And now it's filled back up again. Was I misdiagnosed?
@focusrehab
@focusrehab 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and question. Since we don't drain them in the clinic, I can't say what I'd expect to pull out of there although structurally I'd suspect a mix of synovial fluid (light colored) with some blood. Make sure your doc ruled out an infection either of the bursa or in your joint or muscle, and if that's not an issue, as far as rehab goes make sure you are temporarily wrapped/braced and work on strength and balance if you can. Good luck. They can be stubborn if your knee is unstable, from arthritis or trauma/injury for example.

I think i have this but its not as serious like how i see it on the internet where the knee is badly swelled mine is a little swelled......it comes and goes do ypu know what mine can relate to? also nice video🤝🏾

thanks for watching! sometimes variable swelling is caused by too much extra motion in the joint itself. My first strategy normally is to try 2-3 months of knee strengthening - that usually does the trick. good luck!

Sorry to hear about your knee. Although we can't give you specific advise, in general those issues are usually accompanied by something underlying, like wear and tear of the knee and/or hip weakness. In the acute stages ice packs and range of motion are recommended and after that gentle and progressive knee exercises. Find a good physio where you live who can help you stage your injury correctly and get you on the right path. Good luck!

Hello, I suffered a similar injury. Why not let it recover without doing exercise?? Won’t it speed recovery? By just resting…? Thank you
@focusrehab
@focusrehab 2 жыл бұрын
great question! as long as the bursitis isn't caused by an infection from a cut, tear or scrape, exercise has the potential to 1) speed up the healing because the motion and blood flow encourages faster healing and 2) address any underlying joint arthrtitis or instability that might have contributed to the problem. I recommend to my patients a gradual progression, making sure that the knee is 'not worse' after an exercise, even if it's slightly sore to do at first, and that day by day the exercises feel better. Good luck!
