Im on my 5th day since I started feeling "pain" in my knee and everyday it feels like its not getting any better. I got this when I ran beyond my limits (Im new to running and did high mileage too early and thought that this pain will go away by tomorrow). I can walk but not how I normally walk and there's a bit of pain when I do. There is no swelling but I feel like it will swell in the coming days (hopefully not). Now I wonder what should I do to help fasten the recovery. I cannot get this checked up because of Covid status in our country but I'm fairly sure that this is Pes anserine bursitis based on my research and diagnosis. Thanks!

I over-ran myself into knee pain that was difficult to localize for a couple weeks. Tried stretching and found some information that pointed me in the direction of my quads, hams, IT muscle, and especially my glutes being weak and needing stretching with strengthening. After a running hiatus, the pain was able to be localized to precisely where the pes anserinus bursa is located. This made sense since this area involved the neglected muscles that involved this point. Thank you so much for this information as It definitely has helped me focus on recovery and general strengthening as I needed!

Have u gotten better?
@AonGuardian4 жыл бұрын
@@verxtily6336 yes, very much better. It was a gradual recovery. Stretches allowed for controlled, gentle strengthening exercises for 1-2 weeks. Walking was covered on the job (~10k steps/shift). Light jog was introduced cautiously. Overall, it took about 4 weeks for my knee to allow light jogging in small bursts. Currently, I’m conditioning like it never happened. These stretches definitely helped.

You can try doing it lying down. If you still can't, then these might help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZqvl6NsnrJjbdU

Hi..I have Patella Brusitis, .I'm good up to the "butterfly" stretches....What if it's too painful to do that? (...and normally it's not, I do those quite often before I got this..)

Hi Doctor Jo, I’m pretty sure I have this bursitis and was wondering what the average duration is to fully recover? Thank you for this helpful video btw! (:

You're welcome! It really depends on how severe your case is, and it's really different for everyone. It can take anywhere from 4-8 weeks of consistent stretches and exercises. Good luck!

I think I have Pes Anserine Bursitis. Extremely painful when driving. Comes on without any logical reason and goes away the same. I've had three occurrences over the last few months. Can't explain how painful it is.

Can this heal or would a cortisone shot be needed?

Dr Jo I have got osteoarthritis in both knees and recently bursitis and had to have a steroid injection last Wednesday as I wasn't getting any sleep the pain was so bad, now I hate medication but I am type 2 diabetic and need sleep so was really forced to , I've started these exercises today so I am hoping they are the correct exercises for osteoarthritis and bursitis , Are they okay for the two conditions I have ? thank you .

They should be okay as long as they don't increase your pain. Good luck.

I think I have this, but it doesn’t really hurt that much. Just feels a little stiff and uncomfortable. It started a couple days ago and hasn’t gotten worse, And I think it has improved. I will do these, to see if it helps but do you know how long it might take to get back to normal? It seems extremely minor

Hello Dr. Jo, I have started having knee pain 2 days back during my Yoga practice. I did Pilates class yesterday. Knee pain was ok but now I am feeling it after driving. I have been doing the stretches that you mentioned pretty regularly for last 1.5 years as a part of my Yoga practice. Can continue doing these exercises or do I need to rest for 2-3 days? Thanking you in advance.

Do you remember any kind of injury or twisting it at some point? Unfortunately, I don't know since that could be a number of things. If there are things you can do without it hurting, that should be fine, but I would hold off on the things that hurt.

@@AskDoctorJo , thank you very much for the quick response. It was not an injury or twisting. I was doing wide legged forward fold. I bent my knees as well. But that day my quads were too tight from the strength training from the prior week :(. May be that Yoga practice was too much for that day. I should have taken it slow.
