As a half joke/half talking point, I genuinely have a "Case Of Beer" line item in my invoicing software for those little annoyances like low fuel or mountains of personal belongings right where I need to be. I don't get to use it often, but it's fun to watch the hamster fall off the wheel when I do. "Yeah, that's for bringing me a car with no fuel and a driveability complaint, ya pool noodle..."

About the fuel: In my country (in the past) some mechanics used to drain your petrol and said "we did some long test rides to solve your issue". Sadly, after 20-30 years of that there are still people bringing their vehicle always with minimal petrol in tank. It is a bad reflex. Maybe your customer had a similar issue in the past with another mechanic and that's why the tank was almost empty. Sometimes you can't do anything against bad reflexes. Anyway, the video is very informartive Dan, thanks for sharing it. I learned pretty much from your videos and as a "repair my cars and bikes for myself" person I developed a lot!

Many moons ago, while camping with my parents, we watched a young Dutch woman washing their tent, which had become very dusty in a French Mediterranian camping site. In my experience these kind of issues (questionable live data and in some cases incorrect fault code information) is what you get with an aftermarket scan tools unfortunately. Have worked both independ and as a service rep for an oem. These issues exist also with the original dealer scan tools but they usually gets these bugs fixes as long as they are caught when the product in question is in the warranty period 😂 For aftermarket scan tools the feedback loop through technical support, trainings and angry dealer service managers asking for policy or goodwill is just not there in the same sense

Very good action plan with diagnostic steps, so first look for the real fault with measuring equipment and not just replace parts one by one !
