I remember you having a genuine Bosch sensor once which was wrongly wired. So it does not have to be fake to be faulty.

There is a difference, the MAS is having 12V, Ground and Signal. Signal is always on the same line. If it would not be, the ECU would get back either ground or 12V. Some also have 5V reference that got pulled down, so 12V for heating the wire, 5V pulled down for signal. If the sensor would've the wrong pinout like the Cam Shaft Sensor back then, it would have been a total different thing, because the ECU would get 0 grams or astronomical numbers. But good idea, a wrong sensor type can be the error here. It's hard to match them sometimes, no shame when that happens.

After that video i was contacted by Bosch. They doubted it was an original Bosch. I have send that sensor to their waranty departement for Investigation. hi Dan! i love this channel! thanks to you, Paul, Eric O, Ivan and Matt, i actually decided to be a diagnostician, i'm 38 years old, and started about 1 year ago. It's never late to start over..... I open my own shop about 3 months, i'm doing ok so far, to start from scratch it's hard! especially because i'm self thaught, never went to automotive training before, but i have great teachers on youtube like you who gave me courage to move on !!! It's so difficult where i live, in a very small town north of Argentina, but i will honor all the knowledge you and your colleagues share, by gettin the fight to the end on a diagnosis!!! My sincere aprecciation to you and true authentic diagnosis! With Love, Lautaro.

Good evening, Dr. Curtis Tiger here and today I would love to Diagnose Dan - My prognosis this evening is , impacted faeces, probably caused by overpacking fudge while entertaining. The rememdiy I will suggest is plaenty of Castor Oil and abstaining from packing fudge for a month, if the impaction does not clear up on its own, a visit to outpatients will suffice, where a nurse will remove the impaction with a spoon. As a precaution Dan, you really must stop fantasizing about "Tools" that put a smile on your face, we really do not care about your personal preferenxes regarding big tools, long tools or fat tools, but if you keep going down this path, you will be suffereing from impaction again in no time at all.

good morning friend and colleague. I have been following you for quite some time and I really admire your excellent knowledge on diagnosis. I am George from Corinth, Greece, I am also an engineer, but an old one. We engineers of this generation are NOT that good with diagnoses. admiring so your knowledge, I take the courage to ask for any valuable help from you. has my son one Suzuki swift 2015 model with engine k12b. for about a month now he has been showing his signs esp.this only happens in the morning when he goes to work and when he stops for coffee at about 700 meters, when he starts again it does NOT come on anymore and will NOT come on all day long.in a diagnosis I made at the local dealership, we saw that there are NO errors recorded.they told me not to worry and that it is absolutely nothing in discussion with the chief engineer there, he advised me to change the battery. the old one was almost four years old.I replaced it with a new one Bosch .the problem unfortunately continues. its warning light esp it only comes on in the morning and as soon as you turn it off and start the engine it DOESN'T come on anymore. i know I tired you, but I tried to describe the whole problem to you in detail. There is nothing in the recorded faults, or the diagnosis, I repeat, was made in Suzuki of Corinth. I greet you, I admire you and I hope you are always well. It's a shame that such a distance separates us. Thank you for any help you can offer me. George Korinthos

Companies that make fake parts that don't work properly and suppliers that distribute them are simply crooks and should be put out of business. I have nothing against lesser quality and more affordable parts that are less reliable but ones that don't work as advertised or pretending to be of high quality or from reputable brands are simply shameless criminals with no honor. Well Danny, the Audi was actually a piece of cake for you. The Volvo however, If you are holding shop in my part of the world it is a pretty common thing. A few years ago we didn't ask for specifics when clients brought a car but overtime we made it a habit of having a little chat and as soon as people sound too smart, in a good way, we ask them friendly if they have replaced any parts and from what shop. May sound a bit over the top but it has, in some cases, reduced the fault finding time. I am not bashing anybody but it is better to buy a known brand from a respectable shop than shop on the internet in virtual reality. It can save people a lot of money.

I just went through this (and still dealing with it) because of aftermarket wheel speed sensors on my BMW X5. New sensors have TWICE failed even though they have been 'good name brand'. Even 'good' brands for aftermarket stuff sometimes just don't do the job. Sometimes a cheap part is OK, but we're just taking our chances. Perhaps you can help me then! On the Toyota forum here in the UK we were discussing the MMT multimode type transmission fitted cars like thr Yaris Aygo and many more which is a programmed actuator on top of manual gearbox and the main guy said any tool that has bidirectional control are capable of relearning such transmissions like Autel 808 would you know that because in the advert descriptions it doesnt actually say re learn mmt transmissions only gearbox relearn? Yes i know you can buy pass through devices that can get you on to tecstream if you go through all the hassle tying to sign in succsefully? if you know what i mean. thanks

What nasty tricks the manufacturers do pull. Connecting hardware to a car via software tricks. i hate it

Hi Dan another very informative video. People might say I’m nuts but I always try to replace my faulty components with OEM parts. Dan you and family stay safe and well Artie 😊

Artie, i agreed with you. Sometimes the aftermarket brands are actually also the OE supliers and they make the same component in another box a lot cheaper.

@@Diagnosedan true. I had that on my Mercedes Vito recently where I had to replace the fuel rail sensor. The OEM were quite expensive, but because I knew it was a Bosch part, I was able to source it for less than half the price.
