Good mention of avoiding the set screw hole... Accidentally hit one with my hub puller last week a bit and had use a small drill to remove a bur in the top of the threads I created. I didn't have a hole file or a tap set with me. 29 year old Coleman condenser fan. Whole unit was rust.

If you have a spare screw and a file, you can make a tap quite fast. Use the edge of the file to cut a slot on the screw.

Todd you are correct about it may be something other than dehydration. It can cause that, but why just in the morning? The NP may have taken vitals, but that does not show everything. He may need bloodwork, most of all a Doctor. Many things can cause those symptoms. It doesn't have to be heart related.

Good luck and stay safe out there. Just retired after 43 year's in all areas of HVAC but mostly service, maintenance and installation. Two words of advice from this OG journeyman. 1. Bank away some money. 2. STAY HYDRATED! Heat exhaustion or stroke is NO JOKE! Saving money 💰 and as much as you can will be extremely vital in your lean year's and for retirement. This trade pays very well...let it work for YOU later on as you're working for it. Curtis, glad you got checked out. Dehydration is really sneaky and is a slow killer. Good job man, I did this exact same motor swap a couple years ago, and let me tell you, about halfway through I was wishing I'd paid to have it done, lol. Your video almost gave me PTSD, reminding me how much it sucked, lol. I found a used motor on eBay though, and saved literally a couple thousand dollars DIY, so it is what it is. I don't have a wheel puller though, so had to resort to emery cloth, hammer, torch, and eventually a sledge hammer to get it off, it felt like it was freaking welded to the shaft. I then used some some anti-seize compound on the new shaft, in hopes that if I ever have to do the motor again, I won't go through this again, dang.

i was manually turning these blower pullers for far too long on some that just took way too long to give. tip for people looking into it:i recommend getting an impact socket for the shaft/bolt on the puller-- it speeds up even gnarly motors tremendously. ***obviously be very careful about how straight the shafts are aligned as you may damage the blower wheel housing

You need to find the root cause of your shortness of breath, think about your own blood circulation like a a/c circuit. Your heart is the compressor and there might be a restriction in not getting enough blood to your lungs causing a shortness in breath. It sneaks up on you and boom ! See a cardiologist.. I’m enjoying watching your videos and would like to see more.

You have to wonder if the tightness of those bearings caused the motor to fail prematurely. Bad bearings appear to be the cause of most of your motor failures, not shorted windings, like in many industrial motors after decades of use. That was some rusty motor shaft.

As much of a struggle it is sometimes to pull the motor shafts from the fan housings I wonder if putting together a jig on the back of your van to hold the housing in place might be useful? Is there any downside to using a wheel puller? Seems like a socket on your battery tool and a crescent holding it in place would make quick work of that replacement. Disclaimer, I'm an electronics guy not a mechanical type so probably out in left field here! ;-)

With these true variable speed motors I'm always worried the board is bad and not the blower. I don't know a good way to be 100% certain. By the way, I found that a metal punch and hammer work far better to get stubborn motors out. Just beat it out from the top of the shaft. Works every time. Faster and easier.

You want to remove and unplug motor after it de energizes and do a continuity test between the windings. Should be all roughly same ohms. Think of a contactor coil. Between 10 and 20ohms is ok. You can also buy a techmate that jumps the test pins and bypasses blower module
