Cracked coils seem pretty standard on these old motors. My Johnson Seahorse 3 HP also has cracked coils. Your motor and my Evinrude 9 1/2 HP Twin Sport are the same construction. The coils were changed in mine before I got it. I love this engine as they're almost indestructible when taken care of. Btw..that screw in the bottom of the bowl hides the main jet. If the jet is clogged the motor doesn't run because ALL fuel has to pass there.
