I've got the exact same car with the exact same problem... I got it after it's been sitting for 10 years

Yep, many of them sit there with broken fuel pumps for years, which causes all kinds of secondary problems

I hope this is savable. If I don’t ultimately end up with a ZR1 or a Callaway variant than I’d love one of these down the line. I actually saw a convertible 93 40th anniversary with the Callaway Supernatural 450 package earlier today. This seems far more common/obtainable though and easier to work on. The computer in this one seemed in rough shape though. Good to know about the tendency for those bolts to snap off.

Yep, it's well on its way to being resurrected. Time permitting, I'll have it done and road tested by the end of the year👍.

Background noise is bad but we can still hear you

yea. the wind direction was sending all the traffic noise towards me instead of away like it normally does. It was mildly annoying😁.

Had the same problem with my 85 the fuel filter clogged blew the hose at the pump 🤔

Yep, common issue once they've been sitting. I'll be draining the tank this week and illustrating what needs to be flushed out to get it running in top-notch condition again.

It blows my mind how many of these cars get basically left for dead!!! People can't figure these things out and just give up on um!! Crazy!!!

Yea, when you think about the amount of money that was spent on the original purchase it doesn't make any sense.

Great video. What month and year was your Anniversary car manufactured? I noticed you have the Mobil 1 plate under the hood but my ‘93 produced in 10/92 has the older Bowling Green plate. Thanks
@VetteSource Жыл бұрын
This one is a February 1993 build close to the 11000 VIN range. Interesting that they changed the plate mid year kind of the same way they stopped placing the Mobil 1 plate when they ran out of them during the 1996 MY. What production month/year is your car?
@timothydecelle3201 Жыл бұрын
Mine was made October 1992. I just changed my fuel pump recently. Was thinking of doing the fuel filter too. Would that help increase power? My 93 feels a little sluggish but never driven any other C4 to compare. I just drove my friends 2020 Dodge charger v8 and it hauls, but that’s comparing apples to oranges.
@VetteSource Жыл бұрын
That should help, and it is considered best practice when installing a new pump.

Hey man what's going on it's been awhile I have one problem with my fuel tank in my c4 I had a hard time trying to install the fuel pump the float must be stuck in the down position I think my fuel tank collapsed. Do I need a new fuel tank or can I push air back into the system to push the fuel tank out??😳
@VetteSource Жыл бұрын
Hey Scotty, how have you been? It's possible you have a collapsed internal bladder, but you will need to shine your light down through the opening to see what's going on. You can also try rotating the fuel sending unti 90 degrees as you lower it into the opening to clear any obstructions.
@Orrinwellsbigo Жыл бұрын
@@VetteSource that seems to be the only way to install a pump by 90 degrees as I lower it to turn it forward to line it up with the bolt-holes it doesn't want to turn it looks like the front of the bladder has dropped down 😳😳😳 is it possible to inject air into the system maybe I can push the bladder back out if so where do I inject this air???
@VetteSource Жыл бұрын
That's a good one. Have you tried turning it 90 degrees clockwise towards the front of the fuel tank to avoid the collapsed portion of the bladder?

It's a shame they let it sit outside all this time without covering it up.
@VetteSource2 жыл бұрын
Sad thing is they did keep it covered...with a non breathable car cover which subsequently trashed the paint😭.
