I love that blessings come to those who help others find their bio families, or just extend the families they were raised with. Families are eternal. My dad was adopted, he passed away in 2010, so he didn't live long enough to know I found his bio parents. Sadly for me, my grandfather was gone, and though my dad has a living half sister, one of her sons refuses to tell his mom, my aunt, that I exist. I've been able to see pics of my bio family so that has meant a lot to me. My grandmother never had any other children. There are only a couple of 1c1r that are elderly, but very sweet. One of them has emailed me photos of my grandmother, great grands, along with stories. I won't get to meet him in person, but I'm thankful for his kindness. Seeing pics of my grandmother, and her brothers gave me the feeling of belonging. I see myself in my grandmother. I see so much of my dad in one of his uncles. It has filled my heart. I'm excited to see the show. Thx Connie for all you do. 🤗

What a touching reunion. I am so very happy that mother and daughter and family were reunited after all these years. I pray many years together ahead for them. I live in Western NC right now. It’s set to show on the Explorer Channel (UNC-EX) the 26th at 7:30am. On normal PBS December 1st at 2:30AM. If someone doesn’t have TV, it seems you’d be able to stream it after it airs on normal PBS on the app, either for free or with the $60/yr or $5/mo donation tier. $5/mo isn’t bad to be able to help keep the channel on the air. The Explorer Channel isn’t available to stream online.

My husbands story. He was born in Dec 1957. Adopted in Feb 1958. Found Birth Mom and 12 half siblings in July 2017, talked w/ her over the phone 4 times. Able to meet her on Sept 19 2017. She died on Sept 20, 2017. Getting closer to the birth father w/ a cousin (w/ a name and family) 226cm/13 segments , but can't pass out cigars yet...

My father’s uncle was married twice had a boy with the first wife and a girl with the second wife. The boy was adopted by his step father. The second wife and the girl never knew he had a son. I found the grown girl and was hoping to connect the two, but unfortunately the young man has already passed. But, this cousin does know she had a half brother and has seen some photos, I just wish it had a different ending.

Thx to genealogy DNA i just found out that my only sibling fathered a daughter he didn’t know about. Sadly my brother died in 2013. He apparently briefly dated a young woman in 1995. Who then went immediately into another relationship. Thought she was pregnant by that man and they married. Had a family. Raised that daughter and two more. Decided to send in DNA to Ancestry because the husbands parents died when he was young. So he had no health history. Low and behold their oldest daughters DNA didn’t match the husband But did match my first cousins as second cousins that are on Ancestry. As well as linked her to my oldest two children as first cousins on Ancestry. It rocked their family to the core. After seeking some counseling and advice, I’m happy to say she reached out to my daughter through their Ancestry accounts. My daughter gave her, her cell phone number. They talked. She explained my brother had died, and that my mother was still living. My daughter told her that she would call me and get us together. I received a call from my daughter as soon as they hung up. She told me “mom you better sit down”. As my brother had never settled down Was a cross country truck driver. I was gobsmacked. But elated ! I called her immediately. It’s been a couple of months now. We all welcomed her with loving arms. We live in different states. But I’m making arrangements to go and see her this spring. My mother wasn’t shocked at all. Told us and her that she had been waiting on a call just like that ! For us this has been a special blessing. ❤️

How can I submit a request for help with our family's DNA mystery? A couple of years ago, I was contacted by a match to my mother whom I'd never heard of before. After looking for possible ways this match could be connected to our family, it slowly became evident that my mother was not my grandfather's daughter. We have started to connect with other matches and believe we know the family she is connected to, but would love a deeper look so we can be sure.

Know anyone who's good with adoption records, a woman messaged me on ancestry she's connected to a family line in my tree, but she doesn't know how. She said her grandmother only said her grandmother's parents died when her grandmother was young, and got adopted. We can't figure out her grandmother's connection to a line in my tree. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Adoption records are tricky. Access to them depend on the state and county in which the adoption occurred. Start with the courthouse and find out what the laws are in that area.
