I have a 2014 pathfinder. Only one cigarette lighter in front above that tray. Would procedure for takedown be the same if I I wanted to install a dual USB port like in the video?

as a 2017 owner replacing the headunit is not worth it and you will lose climate control visuals from the integrated screen

I've seen a cool (older) Pathfinder radio replace in which they moved the Nissan Top Screen with the Climate control screen down low where the radio unit is and put in a new radio flat screen in the upper unit. Smart switch out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIiXpauipcpmabs

As always, great video. Any chance you could do a video on replacing the OEM incandescent front turn signals to LED switchback LED's without having to use load resistors? So, they would be bright white when the car is on & switch to bright amber in turn signal mode.

I have already replaced the front turn to LED but they are not switchback. I am not planning install switchback as the turn signal is right next to LED DRL. IMO, not much point in doing this mod/install. But here is the LED install vid: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJynZWh7pZl3gaM

Thank you for your comment. My background is a mix of many things. In my twenties, I had a car alarm, car stereo business where I sold and installed car electronics. I also studied electronics engineering in school. In later years, I worked as a network engineer travelling around the world giving training to service provider companies. I still have a love for tinkering with car stuff and that's why I have this channel to share my knowledge.

thanks for another great video.😀 can i tap to a constant 12v fuse? even when the ignition is off? how much power does a usb socket draws when not in use. it is safe for the car battery?

It's not recommended that you connect to constant 12v. It will drain your car battery.

Hi, Dial2Fast.... I saw that in this video and the other one you made about installing cigarette lighter type accessories that no mention of a fuse was made. Isn't there supposed to be a fuse installed in each USB device (front/back)?

Keep in mind the circuit I am tapping off is already fused at the fuse box. For extra safety, you can install a 5A inline fuse to the USB charger if you want.

You can also use a fuse tap to tap into the fuse box for Ignition 12V or Constant 12V. Definitely try to avoid running through the firewall.

You can as long as you have access to an ignition 12v you can tap power.

I know this is an old video but is the panel removal over the tray different on a 2020? I can seem to get mine down as easy as you did

The 2020 is same as my 2017. That tray is tough to get out because of the plastic tab at the back. You will have to use a pry tool to force it to come out. That's why I end up cutting of the two rear tab before reinstalling it. I mentioned this at 3:15

@@dial2fast thanks for the response. I was actually referring to the panel above the tray that you had to remove the light from. I want to change the bulb to led but not sure how to get the panel off

@@MrMpbailey84 I see. With that top panel, you need to get a pry tool or small flat head screwdriver, and slip it in the front edge of the panel (you have to feel that edge as you are doing this blind). Once you have the tool slipped into the edge, then press it down to pop the panel out.
