As I read the Bible from the beginning one of the first emotions is fear. When you realize how far we are from righteousness its a scary feeling. We have to have a savior , an advocate . Praise Jesus

@angelface8210

Is it God that said that or somebody who spoke for God. Because fear means to be scared , or to feel an overwhelming sense of danger. So how do you people come to the conclusion that those words make sense. It seems pretty clear that fear , ecspecially how it is worded in the scripture you said , means to actually be scared of him. And the second bit is a cover up to make it seem less cruel.

@@angelface8210 There are other kinds of fear like the fear of disappointment. Just as one strives to please their earthly father a Christian strives to please their Heavenly Father. Fearing to disappoint him and ultimately fearing his punishment. Like it was explained in the the video, God is a vastly different and indescribable being of unimaginable power. Even so he loves us purely with the same unimaginable sense. He has laid out his commands for his creation and just as your dad laid out rules for you under his roof if you don’t follow them there are consequences, albeit with God deadly consequences. At the same time God takes care of his people and lifts them out of despair and comforts them always. I pray this message reaches you and blesses you, God bless and peace be with you. 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28 KJV 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. 9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. 11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: 12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. 13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. 14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. @@angelface8210well if the Bible is the inspired word of God then it doesn’t matter, also the word used for fear also translates as morally reverence. So if God hates evil and I have a reverence for God aka a fear of the lord and an understanding of his lordship in my life I therefore won’t desire or love evil like the wicked do that despise God and don’t have a reverence for him

@@mihaicristea5983 .... He didn’t refer to them as slaves but as servants. It’s my opinion that he mentions this to combat the human condition of pride. Even unto the very end his disciples were arguing over who would be the greatest and denying that they wouldn’t abandon him. Peter challenged Jesus and said he would die with him. John records the words of Jesus, “you are my *friend* if you do what I command you.” Abraham was a friend of God. We, in Christ, are the fulfillment of the Abrahamic promise. We are friends with God. We are no longer his enemies. John also records, “there is no fear in love. Perfect love casts out fear.” & “we love him because he first loved us.” When we comprehend the love that God has for us we respond to that love towards him and towards each other. We have not been given a spirit of fear, but of love ...” We should maintain a spirit of reverence for the Lord, but there exists a fear that we should avoid. It is a crippling fear that causes some to earn or maintain their salvation by works meant to manipulate God and not from a pure motive of love.

I’m surprised no one here is aware of Solomons definition of what the fear of the Lord is! He literally defines in in Proverbs. But everyone talks about their Version of what it means to fear God. Which is true to some degree, but what about the opinion of the guy who wrote the book and used the phrase we are discussing? He literally defines it as hating evil. It’s an emotion. The fear of God is to share in Gods emotion of anger towards evil, pride, arrogance, and haughtiness. Now Paul touched on this when he talked about how we highly esteem God. And this indirectly causes us to lower our esteem our estimation of ourselves thus teaching us humility. Yet let’s get to the point. It’s be accurate here, Gods word is sharper than any two edge sword. The Fear of God is to Hate Evil. Learn to Hate evil. And you will learn to guard your heart. Learn to Guard your heart, and the issues in your life will go away. You will still have tribulation, yet it will be for Gods Glory and you will have enough Love in your heart to endure it with Joy. But if your heart is full of offense and pride, then of course you won’t have enough Love to do Gods will. God is Love. Gods word is the seed which grows in our heart. Confess your sins, God will cleanse your heart of all unrighteousness because He is faithful to you. Now with a clean heart, believe in Jesus. Believe God Loves you. Let Gods word Grow in it. Keep it guarded. Learn to Hate evil. For that is the beginning of Wisdom. Amen.

@@levimercedes6029 you need to read your own post...it says the assembling of "yourselves" together. Those buildings are filled to the brim with those that are not of us ("yourselves"). Anybody and everybody is invited to come to those meetings, but if those babylonian buildings were truly for the gathering of His Body then I would be there. YHWH led me away from the foolishness and corruption that is there. And showed me the falseness about it all. I k ow that His people are in there...I was one, but we need to flee. I'm not commanded to fellowship with darkness, I'm commanded to fellowship with His Body/my people. I'm not talking about tares planted by the enemy...that will be...I am talking about darkness being invited in! So many wolves at the pulpit. So many.

I see fearing Yahweh as Father not so much as "I'm scared of God" which we should be, but as caring about His opinion and will above everything else. Like when we say we fear men, we're saying we care what they think and what they'll do to us. But when we fear God, we're saying we care what He thinks and what He is going to do to those who reject His word.

Always question everything. Do not follow people. Jesus trusted no one...not even the disciples. They failed Him when He was down here, and then He died because they were so screwed up.

@@BD-cv3wu Wrong! Jesus chose his Apostles to spread his gospel throughout the land. It was determined before the foundation of the world that Christ would come as God in the flesh and atone for our sins. Your opinion is without truth. You should study so that you are not ashamed of spreading unbiblical dung. 2Tim 2:15

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. Proverbs 14:27 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil. Proverbs 16:6 Three of my favorite verses describing what the fear of the Lord means. God bless you both!

I so much love the Holy Spirit's work through Paul Washer. He let's him speak in kindness and enlightenment but also in thunderous rebuke. Paul Washer is truly one of God's best preachers of this age. Don't tell him that I've said so, because he'll hate it. And rightiously so 😊 May our Lord bless him and his family.

When I was 16 years old I was living the life of a thirty-year-old in regards to World experience and lifestyle. Not having father or mother only older brothers and I was left to my own to make my own path in life. I decided at the age of 13 that I would make God as my father. because there was none other around. At the age of 16 I was telling people that I did not fear God that I loved him he was my dad. After several weeks had passed I was awakened about 3:00 a.m. to the sound of shattering glass tons and tons of shattering glass. I woke up from the noise and there was a door the house that slammed that made the house walls Shake. I looked out the window as I was laying on the couch and a bolt of lightning struct 15 ft away from the window that lasted at least 10 seconds or longer. For lightning that is a long time. A long long time. There was a presence of a Holy God the Lord Jesus himself that came slowly through the ceiling and there was a Hollow Roar that filled the room with a white fog mist that also filled the room. The measures that the Lord's body came through the ceiling was the measure of fear that gripped me. I could not move I could not speak I just wanted to hide my face from his presence. And it was unable to move I was so frightened! I stuttered the words. I do fear you my lord and my God with Great Fear. At that moment the presence began to proceed back up through the ceiling and peace came into my my mind body and soul at the same time in measure. When the Lord's body was fully out of the room and His feet had gone through the ceiling I was so at peace I passed out. I woke up sometime later saying my Lord my Lord my Lord. Everything was back to normal there was no fog smoke in the room the hollow Roar was gone and there was no presence of God it was normal again. The Lord himself came to me and allowed me to experience I was so terrified I couldn't move. What an awesome God we serve that he would take time to visit his children. This was one of many visions and Supernatural experiences throughout my life. They continued for the next 46 years

To me in my journey, fear of the Lord has been basically respecting him and realizing that he sees everything that we do and wants us to act properly towards others out of respect for him. Use the life of Jesus as a model for your own life. If you are kind to someone's face and then talk behind their back, that is disrespectful towards God as well as towards that person. Another important thing I have learned is that we must be forgiving towards others that have wronged us. Do you think that you are so special that you can go into the day of judgment and say to God, "send these people who have hurt me in my lifetime to hell because they are wicked but at the same time forgive me of all of my sins." That is hypocrisy and it is not a good idea to try and put yourself far above others. The teachings of Jesus can be hard to apply since we are only human and our flesh is weak to sin and temptations but if you keep persistence in prayer and ask for help eliminating sin from your life, God will be faithful and sanctify you. Good luck in your journey with Christ friends. God bless.

The answer to the question is found in Ecclesiastes 12:13,14; Fear God, and keep His commandments, for it is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

This is what it means to fear God: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil." (Proverbs 3:5-7 ESV) We do not lean in our own understanding when we use the Word of God as our guidance for every decision we make. "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness." (2 Timothy 3:16 ESV) God will never ask us to do something that contradict His Word.

Kevin, when the panic attacks come, that is the work of the enemy. Speak the faithful name of Jesus through the attack. Jesus of creation, Jesus of the fire on the mountain, Jesus who came down and spoke face to face with Abraham, Jesus who was born to Mary and walked with His people, Jesus who bleed and died in your place, Jesus who victoriously rose again, Jesus who sits at the right hand of God. Jesus your very personal LORD and saviour. For what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world but forfeits his soul. God loves you deeply.
