Thanks for watching guys. Just wanted to clarify one thing - this is just an approach, my personal approach to dialling in amp EQ, as per many requests on previous videos to do so. I feel some people have taken this like I’m saying this is ‘The’ way. Truth is there’s no right or wrong with this stuff. But I hoped the video might have been helpful in some way to some people struggling with their tone. Anyway, just wanted to clear it up. Thanks again for watching

I run a five band graphic eq (classis V) in the effects loop and an 808 in front of the amp. Crank the presence. Brought the amp to life.

Idk, to me it sounds more articulate and punchy at 20:06 that's essentially my go-to EQ on most high gain amps/amp sims, to include my soldanos rythmn tone unless I'm going for a darker sound, great vid mate 💯

Very much appreciate you comparing the EQ between a 'regular' guitar and a baritone, I find it can be challenging to get a good amp EQ dialed in with a baritone or something as low as a Bass VI

I've noticed that there tends to be 2 broad camps for tone seekers; those that dial in their sound primarily for the bridge pickup and use the neck as a warmer or quieter version and those who dial in primarily for the neck and use the bridge as a more focused/punchier version. I fall into the latter (and tend to play voxy amps and low-medium gain rock) where the neck pickup snap is really important to me. Bea seems to be a bridge pickup guy which makes so much sense for the heavier tones he loves.

Soldano is my favorite amp in Helix Native and this video helped me a lot to get a really nice tone, much more like it sounded in my head. Imagine how it would be in a real amp! A dream!

Something I never hear mentioned, but many old amps were designed for E standard or Eb tunings as almost nobody played in drop tunings or extended range 40+ years ago so vintage style amps sound 'best', still, in more conventional tunings...that's what they were designed for.

i have a mark v 35 i like the fat clean mode with dist/od pedals in the front end and the halo dual delay in the loop i find i ad more tone on the secondary function of the halo i usually have the amp eq as follows treble at 2:30 mid at 10:30 bass at 1:30 and presence at 2 or 3 o clock and the front end pedals are the(suhr woodshed comp,keeley super at mod ,boss super octave oc-2 wampler pantheon deluxe and finally the jhs angry charlie v3) I also like the jhs at plus, and thewampler andy wood signature gearbox, if i want a single marshall in a box style pedal ill just use my ns-2 noise suppressor and either my friedman be-od deluxe dual drive pedal or my wampler plexi drive deluxe or finally my carl martin panama for that hot rodded modded marshall in a box style pedal real awesome cool vid rabea love your tones and great playing brother keep rockin man!!!

What I am trying to figure out is: How to best track my guitar amp into my DAW. Do I just run a single, mono track? I tend to not get the slamming sound I do in the room. Is it better to mix it with an IR and dial each slightly Left and Right? I know when recording, it's best to record separate takes but what about single take recordings?? How do I get that MASSIVE sound I am hearing out of my guitar cab to reflect through my studio monitors?

I had hx stomp. I tried so many things but gave up due to so many tweaking. I just use neural gojira for high gain and cory wong for cleans. Almost 0 tweaking. For high gain you can try badonk amp though in helix. Sounds tight.

Would absolutely love a similar video on dialing in different models, captures, and cabs/IRs on the QC. You have hands down the best sounding amp captures on the cortex cloud, maybe a rundown of all your public captures and how you use them? Or a comparison between stock models and captures you like? You were my inspiration to get a QC and I couldn't be happier with it!

Any difference is completely inaudible and not because of the wood itself but the vibration of other parts. It doesn't matter at all. As long as the string can vibrate freely and effect the magnetic field you have a sound and none of you would be able to discern anything different. Also it's not like woods species are some material that has no variance. It's a joke to talk about a piece of maple like another piece of maple would be alike. The variance is quite large, obviously.

Nice video. I liked your final tones you got more than some other peoples tones. You didn't put the bass high like some do plus you didn't put the mid knob super low or all the way to 0 which makes for more clarity in a mix with a bass guitar live or in studio.

Its a soldano. One of the easiest amps to dial in that have ever existed. Would have been better to use a amp that is hard to dial in like a Mesa mark series.

@@William_Earl - Sure have. On acoustic guitars, the body is the speaker. Everything matters there. Ever hear an acoustic guitar plugged into a PA system? All that nuance goes away.

@@Burnt_Gerbil I'll agree that acoustic guitar pickups usually destroy any character a guitar has, but my experience with electric guitar pickups is a bit different. Different woods have different densities, causing the instrument to resonate or vibrate differently. In my experience softer woods usually have darker tones, and denser woods have brighter tones and are usually louder. Best video example of this would be Paul Reed Smith demonstrating wood resonance by simply tapping different boards. In my experience, I've even noticed something like Ibanez RG's both with EMG 81's (which make everything sound similar) sound different when one guitar is made of basswood and has a rosewood board vs the ash RG with an ebony board. Aside from tone wood, I've also noticed a difference in tone when it comes to fret material. Stainless steel having a brighter tone. Aristides material tends to resonate at a relatively high volume compared to wood guitars. IMO source tone matters, otherwise we wouldn't have so many options and guitar companies would find the cheapest, universal material. Just my two cents.

Dialling in eq for live circumstances versus recording is something that is misunderstood. I remember seeing a fairly well known heavy uk hand and there was no mid range at all on their downtuned guitars. Their recordings were full of mids but live is was just bottom end and nothing else. I couldn't undertand it.

If it was a decent size venue it could be that he had o control of the sound people and the front of house. If you open for a big band too sometimes is pretty tough and you barely get any rehearsal or sound test at all. It's a shame but that's how it works out of the PA sometimes

Wood does matter. There is a reason guitars meant for high gain do not have bodies made from super dense woods. You will never see hard maple or walnut used for the entire body of a high gain guitar. They have too much treble content. Mahogany and basswood are preferred in a high gain scenario. Of course tonewood selection is only a piece of the overall tone but choosing the correct wood makes a difference.
