There are some comic books where the Joker is depicted similarly (though with different details; I meant, a deformed or mutilated face, like something from a horror movie). Even worse, like a skinless face with skin used as a mask because he mutilated himself to put his face on Batman's face. In some cases, he doesn't mind being wounded if he finds a joke behind it. At least in Arkham Asylum (the comic book), he also seems to be a gay travesty with a deformed face.

I agree. The scene was cut probably because the Joker pretty much stated what the Riddler's motivations were, the fact that his crusade against the corrupt politicians was deeply personal, that he admires and was inspired by Batman, etc. Cutting this scene makes a whole lot of sense, because the impact of the revelations later on wouldn't have the same effect if the Joker had pretty much stated them outright 90 minutes earlier.

This Joker looks like a solid successor to Heath Ledger's Joker, i.e. he is frightening even if completely disarmed, you can't threaten him, because he cares about nothing and noone and above all the evil he can commit, he will always chose the personal hell to Batman. This scene reminds me of the last interrogation of Blofeld in James Bond No Time to Die. There is a menacing, disfigured interrogation subject, but this scene has so much substance and suspension, in despite it pretty much doesn't have critical information and it ended on the floor of the cutting room.
@noahbaden902 жыл бұрын
This is also a great scene for learning when to cut something for the good of the whole, because even with all the care and character present in the scene, it's entirely self contained and distracts from the rest of the movie. There's already half a dozen completely separate plot threads going at once, and adding the Joker is disconnected if you only have this scene, and muddles the movie if you make him more central.

Its interesting as well, when you look at the structures of all the different jokers. I think this one might show the most potential for damage. Heaths was a criminal mastermind, a crazy genius. Nicklson's was a charismatic crazy, tongue in cheek yet still vicious. Even Leto's joker, a sort of gangster, stylish crazy. Someone it was hard to put your finger on what they would do next. I know many did not like him, but i thought the direction he took, showed some balls and made it his own. It would have been easy to go in and act like a previous version, but he dident do that, and i think that should be commended in some ways. This joker however...He feels more like a rabid, mange riddled animal. I mean just look at him, patches of hair missing, his fingers all (seemingly) chewed up. His mouth, i would not be surprised if he chewed or cut off his own lips. If he will do those sorts of things, TO HIMSELF, just imagine what he would do to someone who pissed him off? And his calm psychotic tendencies, there is something so unnerving about someone who you know is fucking nuts, but talks calmly, almost softly, and worst of all, makes sense in many ways. It shouldent be, crazy does not mix with calm and collected, yet here he is, sitting chained and behind bars and glass, and still controlling the room. I could see this joker being the kind of person, who would cut off someone's body parts, just too see how many it takes too kill someone. And then, when he finished, would get someone new to try again too see if he could take more.

How many times have we seen Batman or Spider-Man done in different ways? Where's the complaints for that? Nowhere to be found, because there isn't none. Barry Keoghan as his version of the Joker creeped me out dearly (which is a good thing). Barry's version of the Clown Prince of Crime had everything I didn't know I needed: the hair, the eyes, the voice, the laugh, the smile (which is the result of his birth defect), everything was picture-perfect. Hell, the look of Keoghan's Joker looks like someone who has survived being burned in a vat of chemicals (even though Matt Reeves has stated that it isn't the case with this version). This version of the Joker has got massive potential for future projects. I can't wait to see more of this Joker (hopefully NOT in The Batman movie sequel).

I think vigilantism needs to be approached in a more serious manner and I hope these new Batman movies show that.. perhaps a past scene of Batman losing control and ruining Joker's face due to his emotional immaturity.. showing that perhaps romanticization is dangerous, and while Batman is a "professional", he still makes dire mistakes.
@Gadget-Walkmen2 жыл бұрын
Lol what? What your saying makes no sense as this movie already SHOWS that Batman being a “vigilante” is ALREADY super dangerous enough from all the stuff that Batman has gone through in this movie alone. What your saying isn’t needed at all with this idea of Batman “losing control” NOR this false idea that he’s “ruined the joker’s face due to his emotional immaturity”, that’s nonsense as “vigilantism” in the movie is already seen as super dangerous as Batman has HEAVY conflict with the cops and how they don’t trust him at all, as WELL as Batman getting into massive dangerous stunts like jumping off the police tower with his bat suit glider and crashing down hard on the way down showing how dangerous ALOT of this vigilante work truly is as by having things not always work out in the end! This movie ALREADY shows that which you missed out on as vigilantism is ALREADY approached in a VERY serious manner right off the bat in this movie! What you’re saying is pretty standard and basic for Batman as he ALWAYS goes through “dire mistakes” when he starts off AS the Batman, and this movie showcased that perfectly fine enough!

This joker needs to remain in prison for the next movies, mostly because it would give him time to plan and bide his time untill his actual appearance. It gives him the chance to not only befriend and study other villains, but also serves as strategy, since Batman came once to talk, he might show up again whenever a new weird case happens Staying on Arkham also gives the joker the possibility of controlling the facility like he does in some depictions, that is, he is free to come and go as he pleases, but decided to stay in order to lure Batman there from time to time, untill he is ready to strike

The whole part where he tells Batman that he and the Riddler are so similar and he knows exactly how he thinks really hits the nail on the head of what I want this jokers big moment to be about. I like the idea that the Joker has already figured out the Riddler was inspired by Batman, but instead of saying it he taunts Batman about how similar they are

I hope we barely get joker in movie 2 again. I hope we get another reconstruction of villains we dont usually see on the big screen or havent seen in a while, with Joker still locked up. And then in third, we get Matt Reeves take on Arkham Asylum with Joker as the lead Antagonist.

Can you do a dialogue dive into the Knightmare scene in Zack Snyder’s justice league? Primarily the encounter between Ben Affleck’s Batman and Jared Leto’s Joker. I didn’t like Jared Leto in Suicide Squad but I really liked his portrayal and interactions with Batfleck in the Snyder Cut. Edit: Also a great video btw. Wasn’t trying to sound ungrateful.

@ajiththomas24652 жыл бұрын
Probably because the Joker pretty much stated what the Riddler's motivations were, the fact that his crusade against the corrupt politicians was deeply personal, that he admires and was inspired by Batman, etc. Cutting this scene makes a whole lot of sense, because the impact of the revelations later on wouldn't have the same effect if the Joker had pretty much stated them outright 90 minutes earlier.

I hope he isn't! It's been too gosh damn long for DC to not take a page out of Marvel's book: don't come out with the biggest villain ever right off the bat (no pun), edge the audience/build anticipation. Make us beg for it!

Joker is going to be apart of the these movies but it seems like he's NOT gonna be the main villain at all. He's just living and lurking about in Gotham just like other Gotham villains, which I LOVE. But I agree I want to see MORE Batman villains and I hope Mr.Freeze takes center stage!

@@Gadget-Walkmen Yeah. It’s a shame the only live-action film to feature Mr. Freeze was Batman and Robin all the way back in 1997. There’s a lot of potential with him in movies and Reeves would do a great job with him.

Interesting insight as always :) I liked this Joker portrayal, I would prefer him as a sideline villain that Batman could talk to. As the main villain I think there are other choices that could be more interesting, because they were never explored on the big screen. Or atleast not on this century

I love this scene. I felt the movie was a bit long and this scene was a bit too long but I suspect that if they were edited together keeping the movie the same length it would be really good.
@Gadget-Walkmen2 жыл бұрын
I gotta disagree with the movie was a "bit long" as it really wasn't as every scene in the movie was MASSIVELY immersive and compelling in EVERY scene as it sucked you completely in as not a single scene was not immersive as it was ALL entirely immersive and compelling throughout it's course! I would have LOVED it if the film was even LONGER than it was because of how engaging and compelling it all was. LOVE the how long the movie was because it made us VERY immersed into the dark world of Gotham by fleshing it out immensely! Loved this film so much and I even wished it was longer even!

@@Gadget-Walkmen glad you liked it. i love these kinds of movies, but was a bit disappointed in this one, my girlfriend who doesn't like these kind of movies like it. @Gadget-Walkmen2 жыл бұрын
@@happyron it’s unfortunate that you found it “a bit disappointed in this one” at all as I LOVED this movie to death as it had everything to that makes Batman, BATMAN in a story while stylized in modern times! You should REALLY watch it again and hopefully you’ll grow to love it as I did because for me, I found it to be a complete MASTERPIECE of a movie as a long time Batman fan who ALWAYS wanted a dark story like this focusing on his detective aspect more than anything else. This ENTIRE movie for me and most others, is a 10/10 MASTERPIECE! We have a batman movie where the best character in the film IS Batman/Bruce Wayne! Robert Pattinson is the BEST batman I've seen and he's PHENOMENAL as Batman AND Bruce Wayne entirely while still given him a new stylized look that's FANTASTIC to see! Love this movie to death as it's the BEST batman movie, felt like watching batman: the animated series BEAUTIFULLY brought to life with it's gorgeous Art Direction and aesthetics! MASTERPIECE of a film throughout!

it's being used right now, to build up future movies.
@WoahLookAtThatFreak2 жыл бұрын
If you mean it's a shame that it wasn't used in the movie then I completely disagree. This scene needed to be cut, it would have completely overshadowed the events of the rest of the film, as well as The Riddler as the main villain. It's good it wasn't used in that regard, but the fact that it's been released as a deleted scene means it's being used right now. It's better to watch now after seeing the movie because it works on it's own as an entertaining scene, establishing a relationship between Batman and Joker in this universe, all while not taking the spotlight away from The Riddler, or revealing too much about the plot before it happens.
@HxH2011DRA2 жыл бұрын

@Mecha1202 жыл бұрын
What I love is that this relationship isn't "We're two sides of the same coin." Instead it's basically Hannibal Lector's "I'm a fucking psychopath so I know one when I see it", then proceeds to call out Batman for being just as psychotic as the Riddler, foreshadowing the whole "I'm vengeance" twist, which honestly would've probably spoiled too much before the climax.
@godisgood2012 жыл бұрын
Why a bunch of people in this comment section don’t wanna see another Batman vs Joker movie is beyond me. And then if we get another Batman movie with a less interesting/nuanced villain like Mr. Freeze or Deathstroke, then everyone is gonna complain about how bad the movie is and how they should’ve just had Joker as a main villain. People are really acting like Batman vs Joker has already been done to death, when there was only ever one good depiction of Batman vs Joker in The Dark Knight.
@Captain_Insano_nomercy2 жыл бұрын
Lot of non comic readers mostly. I mean shit he's in damn near every comic series. He's integral to the story of Batman, there's no "too much" Honestly it's just people getting with the zeitgeist of hopping on Ledgers dick and acting like that role is sacred now and can never be done again. Which is silly, I loved that Joker but it's by no means the end all be all
@andytrevino40777 күн бұрын
