The time and energy and skill required is enormous. My patience ends after about a day on. A project like this. You guys are amazing.

You know what amazes me? Here we have a bunch a guys with a lot mechanical knowledge, but no one is wearing any safety footwear. Professionally trained mechanics know enough to wear safety shoes while working around heavy equipment like engines, transmission, rear ends and body panels.

My original volunteer fire company ran two Diamond Ts in the 40s and 50s. I never saw them, but a lot of guys were still around that did.......they were kind of legends!! Earliest truck I had experience with was a '57 Ward La France.

Just gorgeous. Would love to build a fifth wheel RV tow rig out of something like that.

Customer used the truck to tow a restored classic rv trailer.

Nice that they saved a Diamond T from the scrap yard, but would have rather seen it in stock then a custom
@professorx7398 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Diamond T trucks are getting harder to find and unfortunately there is no shortage of folks butchering old iron 😩😔
@sharonkemp3353 Жыл бұрын
it was not from a scrap yard. We purchased it at a big truck show.....but needed a bigger motor and other up grades. The fellow we got it from left a lot of original stuff. I think he found it in a field and redid it like he wanted.....he was aging and could not handle anymore.....so we brought it home.

I could imagine those early COE would have got hot in the cab, putting the motor behind is the way, and stick a nice big intercooler and radiator up front. Like to find an early chevy or Inter outback Australia, but they want an arm and a leg.
@sharonkemp3353 Жыл бұрын
The fellow we got it from did put a Chevy 350 behind the cab.....in a custom made diamond box....was great...left lots of room in the cab.......will miss her and still do when I see this.....

That bed frame is spectacular, but not s fan of that much diamond plate.

Is that a truck lift, it looks extra wide...
@muss19515 жыл бұрын
why didn't you show the entire truck finished, boo
@MrOiram463 жыл бұрын
The one last thing it needs, just one photo, just ONE, of the entire truck, a photo that’s staple to every project, and it’s not on the video! 😂

What Transmission did you use?
@dallaschappell48205 жыл бұрын
Originally the motor came with a 727 and we coupled it to a gear vendor overdrive, later on we switched it to a 47rh 4 speed auto with an electric lock up converter and removed the gear vendor unit for better towing.
@michaelmongillo12375 жыл бұрын
dallas chappell... I see, thank you. You have to know how damn awesome your truck is. GOOD JOB MAN. I have a gear vendor in my 93 Dodge 1ton dually 4x4 behind the stock 5speed. Well over 600k on her. I'm looking for a good motor/trans combo to set my 47 Diamond T body on. 🤠
@dallaschappell48205 жыл бұрын
Michael Mongillo sounds like you got what you need, we used a 4x4 for the donor so adapting to the gvo was simple, we used I believe a 91 12 valve, non inter cooler setup which made it much easier and more compact. Thanks for the compliment, I had a great time building this truck for a great customer, sadly though; it was completely lost in a California wild fire last November.
@michaelmongillo12375 жыл бұрын
NO WAY... OMG THAT MAKES ME CRY. and I did not work on or even touch her. Ya, that 93 I thought would work but I did not think I had room for that 6B and ALL the intercooler, radiator and stuff up front. Maybe a 4B??? Still thinking on it.

What motor?
@dallaschappell48205 жыл бұрын
12 valve Cummins

I really hate when people rebuild these trucks and move the engines to the bed, that ruins the whole concept of a cab over. The whole appeal of a cab over is the fact that the cab sits over the engine.
@sharonkemp33534 жыл бұрын
I know....and a lot of people always want everything stock. The engine in the cab makes it very hot, especially in the summer. And there is more leg room this way.....and it's not so noisy . .The motor was already in the back when bought, a 350 chevy....we put a commings deciel in it...more power for pulling our 1956 Aljoa trailer. We miss this dearly...and the 56 trailer. But....we had to hurry down the mountain before we all burned up.
