Regarding the channels I’ve viewed on the topic of diamonds yours is number one. You acknowledge the standard characteristics we all consider when choosing a diamond. You are very detailed and clear creating a greater understanding to even a novice shopper. In addition you take it to a whole new level of comparison with even more analysts giving more distinctions to consider when making a final choice. Your channel certainly does ROCK!!

When sourcing diamonds how strict are you with what you’re selling?
@DiamondInfoMan Жыл бұрын
That's a great question. I'd like to think that no one is stricter than us and from my experience, I truly believe that's indeed a possibility and we'd be happy to put to the test. We believe it's one of the major reasons why we've been able to stay in business for 40+ years. The larger companies have more advertising power than us, but when we're able to match our knowledgeable customers high standards, word of mouth goes a long way for us and most customers who do find us, usually buy from us due to the price, service, and high diamond standards we can offer them. But at the same time, we offer something for everyone, with the price being adjusted accordingly. In general, our goal is to source a customer the best diamond possible that meets their listed (budget/diamond specs) in an effort to offer our customers the most bang for their buck! If interested in seeing what we can offer, feel free to contact sales@goodoldgold.com and we will do our best to source a diamond that meets your requested criteria..

DiamondInfoMan, do some companies patent diamond cut designs they create? I know there is such a thing as a Design patent, so I was wondering if certain patterns are patented?
@Shyguyexplores12 жыл бұрын
I was considering cutting a convex underneath a diamond in order to create a greater amount of reflection, and it may even have a magnifying aspect to it. In the old days, no one had the technology to cut a convex into a diamond, but with todays technology, I believe it is possible to cut a perfectly shaped convex under a diamond, perhaps one in each of the four quadrants, so the light entering the diamond from above is not only reflected, but amplified. Hmm, maybe I should patent the idea. :)

Hi Mubarak. We're located in Massapequa Park, NY on the south shore of Long Island. If you go to our site and click the "Contact Us" link in the menu it'll take you to a map with directions to our store and the various ways you can get in touch with us. You have in fact found one of them right here. ;)

Thanks for the info. I am purchasing on line and don't have the ability to do these comparisons with my wholesale people. Would you recommend using the HCA calculator on Ideal-Scope to render a decision about all the components of an ideal diamond? By entering all the diamond dimensions from the GIA report, it will calculate Light Return, Fire, Scintillation & Spread. Otherwise, I am at the mercy of the person at the other end of the phone to offer me the most ideal. Thanks for this video!

very useful, thanks so much for all your videos. Still waiting for the ASET tutorial! Any chance you posted it and I missed it? 🙃 Thanks again for your very informative videos.

We're glad the videos have been helpful! I don't believe we got around to an ASET tutorial as of yet, however you'll find some info0rmative ASET information toward the bottom half of this webpage www.goodoldgold.com/red-reflector-pictures
@Quagmire887 жыл бұрын
So if the white is where the light is leaking out the bottom side of the diamond, what does the red and black represent? I am sorry if I missed it when you explained that. Is the black 100% reflection where the red is partial reflection?
@DiamondInfoMan7 жыл бұрын
Anything red and black will be reflective facets off the pavilion. There is a 2nd part to the equation though because facets can reflect back one of two things. Light or head/body shadow. In general the black is representative of head/body shadow (not good if there is too much) while the red is light reflection. A balanced amount of black is fine as long as it's a secondary color and not primary. We always want the primary color to be red. Regards, Jonathan

To date only different facet structures have been patented that deviate from standard faceting. Ie. The Tiffany Lucere which has a step cut crown and brillianteered pavilion, 91 faceted Solasfera, etc. I am at this moment pursuing patents that break this tradition and am pursuing particular optical designs that have never been created or patented before but have solid grounds for patent.

Just as you explaining and showing the product it will be interesting to mention the retail price ,... many thanks
@GOGDiamondLab5 жыл бұрын
That's great advice and I'll keep that in mind for future video's. We often keep the price of the diamonds in the video a secret because many of our customers show their friends and future fiance the video (either before or after proposal) and many of those customers don't want to disclose how much they paid. The price of diamonds also go up and down, so the price that a viewer might hear today might be significantly different compared to back in 2011 when this video was produced. But as I mentioned, we'll definitely keep it in mind and offer that information when we can.. Thanks,

Greetings Sparkman. I've been looking for the real Sparkman for a long time now so it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance! =P The HCA is useful but not a tool I would make a buying decision on. There are many weakness with the tool on which I point out in an exhaustive article I've written on the subject with a video to accompany too. From my homepage click on "The Technologies" in the menu and it is the first item.

Ugh... really?!?!? :/ This is such an important video too. Based on your input I will gladly not only revisit it but even reshoot it because I feel consumers should have this information available to them. It differentiates between even GIA XXX diamonds which can vary in value by over 20% due to cutting issues. Once again I genuinely appreciate your input Paula. If you have any questions feel free to email me at rhino@goodoldgold.com or jonathanweingarten@gmail.com. Whether you're purchasing online or locally I can help steer you right. All the best, Jon

why don't you make all your reports available on your website? No ASET reports, no scope reports at all! You don't even show actual images of the diamonds we'd be purchasing!
@DiamondInfoMan4 жыл бұрын
We do offer those reports on most of the diamonds we get our hands on. Here's one for example www.goodoldgold.com/diamonds/id/3819344 . But if there is a diamond or two that you have your eyes on that does not have this information, feel free to contact sales@goodoldgold.com and we'll be happy to see if we can have the diamond shipped to our location for analysis and provide you with the information.
