It seems that way! The royals have had a few massive “earthquakes” that have shaken but their foundations seem to be holding. This year of cancers has proven them more lasting and more loved than could’ve been imagined (especially RE: the opinion of Camilla, circa 1995, her rise has been remarkable!)
@jillal-fuhaid176313 күн бұрын
@@Jess_Connell I have heard readings of books about the lives of staff who worked for Diana , as well as books I have read about Diana by Lady C. At last things have become much clearer of the private lives & glaring difficulties in the marriage. Camilla has a completely different personality. Coming from a stable loving home life, does affect one’s personality. And Camilla with her common sense & happy character was just what the much maligned Charles needed as à help meet.
@Jess_Connell13 күн бұрын
@@jillal-fuhaid1763 it does seem that way for sure. Camilla seems to be so genuinely jovial and it appears that she calms him. Domesticates him in a way. Like the pen incident, early on in his reign.

Hello Jess in Australia the Monarch is our Head of State. He/she is represented here by the Governor General - quite a powerful position as the GG has the authority to dismiss the government - (with the approval of the Monarch) - this did actually happen in 1975. Republican sentiment was very strong at the time after that incident. However, over the years most people would prefer to stick with what we know. Statistics show only about 33% of people support a Republic and every time the the topic comes up, no can agree on what form an Australian Republic would take - so I think we’ll stay as is for a while. The King and Queen have been warmly welcomed here at the moment and William, Catherine and their family are very popular. I think what drives the Republican Movement in Australia is the concept that we are all equal - that belief is part of our culture and Australian society is built on a ‘fair go for all’ (or it used to be!). If you are interested in Charles and Diana before they divorced ‘The House Keepers Diary’ by Wendy Berry is a real page turner and wow, what an eye opener! Thank you so much for the wonderful look back at history today :)
@Jess_Connell13 күн бұрын
I’ve listened through the House Keeper’s Diary with Cheere Denise! Very good. I think I’d love for a very good Camilla biography to come out from a Tom Bower sort. I’ve been quite surprised how she’s won the world over, through quiet love for him and getting on with it. Through the cancer situations this spring she was such a workhorse and really was an asset to the monarchy. Fascinating to see her “character arc.”

I had no idea Jackie had an affair with Bobby Kennedy. What an evil thing to do to Ethel Kennedy. I’ve really lost any empathy I might have had for her at one time, and she finished her life with a married man.
@Jess_Connell13 күн бұрын
Yes it really is an evil thing to do. Some people call that a “trauma bond.” While I’m sure they were united in a shock wave of grief about JFK, the decision to cross into that kind of relationship ultimately desecrates the honor of the grief they were each feeling. To me, at least.
@SusanKennedy-v4z13 күн бұрын
@@Jess_Connell I totally agree. My oldest daughter passed away. I didn’t “trauma bond” with any of the husbands in the support group…I’m not denying trauma bonds, but choosing adultery with your brother-in-law and from my understanding kind of flaunting it in Ethel’s face is a whole different level of cruel.

This goes against common thinking, but I would not count JFK and RFK as martyrs. They didn’t know that the lights would be taken. But definition a martyr is someone who sacrifices her life for the sake of others. Since Martin Luther King had had threat against him, I think he will easily fall into that category.
@Jess_Connell13 күн бұрын
Hmmm I have never thought of them specifically as martyrs. But I’ve always understood martyrdom as “losing your life for your beliefs.” By that, depending on who killed them and why, they could be accurately called martyrs.

39.34 Diana’s prescient view of monarchy. Brit here, resident South Africa since early 1970’s. Yes, Diana knew more than was good for her, but, in my view, lending ear to psychics and such was a huge mistake, not only spiritually but socially. It bent to the legend that she was unstable and “a loose cannon”. We all know where that led. As to Charles, it took years of careful crafting while the Queen was still alive, to initiate and accomplish the rehabilitation of Camilla. At one time she was unquestionably the most despised woman in England, pelted with bread rolls at a supermarket by outraged shoppers. Charles is known for his peevish stubbornness, and his incursions into “alternative religions” has impacted his popularity and public tolerance of his whims and fancies. His latest cancer scare has garnered sympathy, but that whole Catherine/Charles episode is a double edged sword, especially referencing Catherine. PR department need a boot at the rear end. Referencing public respect for Charles, he is much criticised and unpopular on account of his WEF association - and that applies to William, who is also knee deep in the cabal of globalists. The monarch is the Head of the Church of England, and there is Charles being all things to all faiths, and William declaring that he cannot accept the Headship of the C of E because, to paraphrase, he doesn’t believe in any of it. Add to thus roiling concoction the DIRE situation with illegal immigrants, and a blind man could see that the monarchy needs both hands and water wings to stay afloat. Die hard Brits are still cheering for the monarchy, and would like nothing better than to resurrect the Queen, let Diana become wife of a decent aristocrat, let Charles marry Camilla and be done with it, AND stay away from EU, WEF, WHO and any other three letter acronyms you can think of. All if the above is my PERSONAL view, trawled from a host of sources with an ear to the ground.
@Jess_Connell13 күн бұрын
Wow wow wow. Loved your comments and insights! Yes to the concerns about the globalist connections! And boy it does look like a mess waiting to happen with William and the Church of England. Right now Charles has said “all faiths” but then his holiday messages have been far closer to the sound of Queen Elizabeth’s than I would’ve guessed. We’ll see if that trend continues. I did wonder if being so close to Granny, and being near at the end, would make William more open to faith. And then, recently, Catherine’s cancer situation. But it does not appear to have done so. I do think that’s a big mess waiting to happen but perhaps they’ll just divide church and state and do away with the “divine” element of the coronation etc. if so it would be a huge departure from tradition and I wonder if the British people would rather say well then let’s throw it all over. But perhaps the winds of modernity will get him through those waters?

Sonny and Cher were mentioned as being “groovy”? No, they definitely were not. They were on a weekly rock n roll show in the mid-60s. They were on every cotton pickin’ week and we teens were so ticked off that they were shoved down our throats every week. They were boring and not stars at all.When our rock stars were on once a season. The show was either Hulabaloo or Shindig. When the Sonny n Cher show came on as a CBS summer replacement show around 1971-72, they had been completely re-fashioned, like alley dogs that had been sent to a doggy beauty parlor. Plus Sonny had written 3-4 hit songs in the intervening years. THEN they really caught on. 🐕🐩
