Loved this reaction. And I have to say thank you for taking the time to read through the comments of the judges. Not many reactors do that and I think it's good to share that with people who might not otherwise see it. By the way, the other judges were her competitors, and yes, she earned the most points on that episode. That was her performance for the first episode of Show Mask Go on which I think there were 9 episodes in all, and yes, the won the competition in the end as well.

Watching Diana is like watching an epic movie soundtrack! And that tone! OMG!! P.S. No that is not an electronic effect. Diana sings with polyphonic overtones, which creates what one reactor has called "The Diana Effect".

Well, I've heard about the name of that effect. Though, in that section of the song, it's pretty obvious there are 2 voices on the same tone. Like, producing 2 different tones at the same time is one thing, but producing the same tone twice at the same time is not possible actually. :p But it does fit perfectly here in this part! :D

If you watch Diana perform The Crow (which is my favorite Diana performance, by the way), there is a low note that Diana herself had to clarify was coming from a backing vocal. She is learning from that confusion and has started to take the microphone away from her mouth during 'confusing' parts of her performances. You can see this clearly during her recent performance of I Call You Russia. One of the reasons she went on this TV show (and, yes, she did win this show) was to learn more about being a professional artist.

There are rythmic bursts of a backing vocal like sound, but the long continuous notes, that sound like multiple voice tracks, is actually produced by blowing a lot of air or rather the right amount of air over a particular shaping of the vocal tract, the including the shape and placement of the tongue, and also sinus cavity resonance, with the jaw dropped, the larynx in right position, the tongue and soft palate, one creates various harmonic overtones, another reactor was showing what it looks like on the computer screen, you can see the narrower bands of resonant frequency each with multiple colors, these are the harmonic overtones which sound like multiple other voices, hear the buzz when she really belts the high notes, that is created by sine wave amplification, like they depending on the phase shift they cancel each other out, or amplify by coinciding at same time, kind of like the effect of having your engine sound combining with the sound of a big truck engine next to you and you can hear the different rpms either coinciding or not, going in and out of synchronicity, creating a wave like effect, anyway it's very real. I can do it also to some degree. Contraltos probably tend to have this ability to varying degrees. She is a master of it, and with the most amazing timbre way up and down the scale. A God given talent apparently, she is absolutely fabulous. You should listen to her version cover of Oh Darling at 10. Amazing musicality. She is a musical genius.

Hi thanks for your reaction, there are no special effects or backtracking of Diana’s voice and the song it is all her. What you are hearing Diana has the ability to seeing with polyphonic overtones which is what makes her so special and unique. If you don’t believe me there are plenty of videos where you can see her singing in a basement with no fancy m,e just her cell phone and she sounds the same,

First, her control over her straight tones is incredible. Second, in the remarks portion, multiple members of the jury remarked on the unbelievable amount of energy they felt moving through them during this performance-they said they'd never experienced anything like it. The gentleman who stood up in the jury, is the husband of Russian uber-soprano Anna Netrebko, so he knows powerful voices (he's an opera singer himself, Yusif Eyvasov)! He was just stunned by her. All these pros gobsmacked by a 18 year old's voice. Amazing 🤯🥰❤️ Edited to add: she does this whole song using ONLY the first two lines of the original song, repeated 🙌🏼❤️

Great reaction! This performance was from a Russian show that aired last fall, and ran for 9 weeks. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course off the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles. That belt at the end had me thinking "somebody get on the horn with Arjen from Aryeon, I think we found him another metal vocalist". One of the categories for this show was Rock Hit and Diana sang a really famous Russian Rock song with the original singer as the guest. It's called Way (Путь in Russian). It's short but sweet. This show was unique in format and such a treat I ended up watching every episode. It would air Saturday morning pacific time and there were people from all over the world in the chat. Even though a lot of us were watching for Diana by the end of it I liked most of the singers. One of the unique things about the show was that the singers were also the judges (including Diana). It used Eurovision style scoring where at the end of each episode you'd have to score everyone but yourself from 9 to 2, without giving out the same point amount more than once. The daily winner would perform an encore to send off the episode. So you'd get 9 songs + the encore of the daily winner each week from 9 categories. Diana of course blew the doors off their hinges on the first episode. She sang a few encores and won the cumulative total. She's done some concerts and her usual Bard Club lounge sets, along with a new radio live set on Autoradio showing off some of her new originals and some covers. Diana Ankudinova was only 15 when she did "Wicked Game". Diana Ankudiova is now 18 and has 3 more years of voice training and you can really hear it. There is no electronic voice manipulation at all. Diana is a real polyphonic singer which in itself is a rare talent and is a vocal technique that creates two different tones at the same time which makes it sound like two different voices at the same time. Diana does this through the resonance which is created by the airflow through the lungs, throat, mouth, and tongue placement which is why some people mistakingly think she is using a voice synthesizer to manipulate her sound, or there's another voice singing, or she is singing over a pre-recorded track, which she is not. Also, the judges on this panel are all professional singers themselves and in this show, they compete and judge each other. By the way, the judge on the top row that stands up is a famous opera singer that's well known in Russia. As an FYI, Diana won this competition.

Thank you for this great reaction, yes it is a cover, a song by Elvis Presley if I'm not mistaken, and I think it is in d-minor, I don't have much knowledge of these, but it is so haunting and so beautiful when Diana sings. First, about her voice, this is a singing contest, so no auto-tune and no electronic augmentation allowed. She is 18 here so very early in her development as a singer, but I think she is already a true polyphonic contralto, {rare}, with amazing range and control. I hope that as she matures, she will transition into a full dramatic contralto, {very rare}. {polyphonic contralto and dramatic contralto have very specific definitions in classical and operatic singing} The first judge on the top row with the beard and tears in his eyes is Yusif Eyvazov who is married to Anna Netrebko, both well-known and respected opera singers. What does it say about her performance if she could move him to tears? All of the others are also singers, though I don't know them as I do Yusif.
