Diana Ankudinova was born on May 31, 2003 in Russia. She participated in the Russian TV project "You are super!" in 2018 with the songs "Derniere danse" (French), "It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” (English), “The River” (Russian), “Tomorrow Is A Lie” (English) and won. In 2019, she repeated the success, won the Grand Prix on the TV show "You are super! Superseason." with the songs "Blizzard" (Russian), "Wicked Game" (English), "Human" (English). Recordings of Diana's performances on the show "You are super!" posted on KZbin (copyright of the NTV channel). In the TV project "You are super!" children from 8 to 18 years of age, deprived of parental care and inmates of orphanages participate. The project producers help the finalists with their studies and creative careers. Diana has a unique voice - "contralto", the lowest female voice (F3-F5). It is very rare for girls. Diana's working range of voice is two tones lower and four tones higher than that of the contralto (D3-D6), the tenor is mezzo-soprano. Diana's rich set of techniques, emotional presentation, velvety timbre and attractive appearance make her stand out among the vocalists on the stage. I first got into watching reactions because of BABYMETAL, for me this led to the personnel discovery of Dimash Kudibergen, Diana Ankudinova, Band-Maid, Maximum the Hormone, Waggaki Band, Morriset Amon and Angelina Jordan. All amazing in their own ways. Diana is my favorite singer now, in fact she is my desktop background. Its not just her talent, it is the amount of worldly challenges that she has faced and overcome in order to achieve her artistry and the undeniable feeling that there is something primal and spiritual about her work. Hi from France Danny! Great reaction! Your astonishment is not exceptional! Diana uses many vocal techniques rarely used in pop music (like overtones, yodel, and some from classical singing....). The one that seems to amaze people the most is polyphonic voice. The root notes are enriched with powerful harmonics which can give the impression that there are several overlapping voices or an artificial effect which gives this result. This technique is used in Slavic folk music, like Bulgarian vocal groups or artists like Pelageya, the Russian folk diva. I cannot tell you exactly how these artists achieve this result, I was just told that it is linked to the simultaneous use of the different resonators of the human body and that such a mastery of the voice and of the breath with such a fluidity requires years of work, Diana has been singing on stage and has been taking singing and performing arts lessons since the age of 6! She has a range of contralto D3-D6, she has fun to cover, see on her official channel, songs written for male voices (tenor, baritone)... This broadcast is "You're Great!" ("You are Super"), a song contest reserved for children who have had a difficult start in life. This is the case of Diana who was mistreated and ended up in an orphanage at 3 years old. Short bio. Diana was removed from her birth mother's care, and placed with other family who placed her in an orphanage. She stuttered and could barely speak. She was adopted by an orphange staff member, and at age 5, in an effort to help her speech, as she showed an interest in music, she received voice lessons. Obviously it worked!! Diana is 15 in this performance. At 14 she won this show for orphans and other disadvantaged children called "You Are Super." The next year at 15 she performed in the Grand Prix of the show and won again. This was one of the songs she performed in the video you have of her. Diana will be the next massive Russian superstar, absolutely no doubt. BTW, proper Russian pronunciation of her name (phonetically) is DEE-ah-nah Ahn-Koo-DEE-nah-vah, emphasis on the all caps. Thank you for your time and comments for Diana. Diana is a true artist, she sings,acts,dances,draws,paints,plays piano and ukulele plus she uploads videos of cooking traditional Russian dishes. Wicked game was my introduction to Diana over 2 1/2 years ago. Its been a pleasure to explore this young ladies artistry and her growth as a vocalist. Through vocal training Diana has widen her range both higher and lower.........she has matured physically and artistically. Diana's vocal tone and timbre is magnificent, no telling how good this young lady will be in 5-10-15 years from now, oh she'll only be 33 yrs old in 15yrs. So much growth to come yet. To better understand Diana you need to watch her perform “Yodel time”. She performed this at a different TV competition and none of the judges turned around but the audience gave her a standing ovation and later demanded she be put on the show. It was a big scam about it. She uses yodeling technique in a lot of her songs to fluidly transition her voice is so many ways it has baffled many other people who react to her songs. Then you will want to see “Human” then you will be hooked if you already are not. There is not one song that she sings that you will not get goosebumps from. She is a rare contralto that you will never get tired of listening to. Get reaction and pretty much the same as any musical, vocal or artists that have reacted to her. To answer your question, yes she did make this song her own didn't she? And she was only 15 years old when she did it. People are likely to beg that you next listen to her covers of "Rechenka" and "Human", sung at 14 and 15 respectively. And I cannot disagree. However these were sung over two years ago now and you may wonder What is she doing now? Can she live up to the promise of these performances? I have asked myself this, for the show, "You Are Super" has been able to provide spectacularly professional supports of arrangement and staging to its young stars. Diana is always pushing her boundaries and trying something new, experimenting with new forms (and new languages!), but it was not until she started singing and developing a song (a cover) variously translated as "Finicky Horses" or "Ornery Horses" that I could feel completely convinced that as she grows she will surpass these earlier performances from You Are Super. Diana will blaze a path across the sky. She may not be gigantically commercially successful for she clearly intends to blaze her own path but surely she will be successful by all other metrics. At the moment she is preparing a crowd funded album, working closely with a producer and a song writer. It is maybe due out near her 18th birthday in May. Who knows what jewels we will find there.

As other have stated Diana is a contralto, rare even more so for someone so young. When her voice began to change and become deeper, she started working hard to maintain and improve her upper register. This hard work and dedication has paid off tremendously. My experience when listening to her, over the last few years, is when she hits certain low ranges the resonance produces some overtones. That is what you heard at the beginning. I thought it was synthetic and it turned me off at first because I love the original. At the same time her voice left a huge impression on me. The more I heard her sing, the more I researched vocal styles and the more I became impressed. Diana is an extremely gifted human being with a goofy since of humor. Her IG and TikTok's can be pretty entertaining as well.

Great reaction! She was 15 when she sang Wicked Game. If you like stage presence and that tribal sound you should listen to Rechenka (The River) which she sang at 14. It is based on a Russian folksong about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her mother's blessing for her marriage. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2HWnZx-qM94qJY Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother. Because of this beginning her speech was very undeveloped and she was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talents was quickly recognized and the rest is history.

Interesting reaction, I love her interpretation of songs Rechenka and Human. They chill me instantly. However I like other songs as well, Take on me, Into the sky, By your voice. Diana and Dimash have something in common, it is uniqueness, capability to make own interpretation and captivate audience with emotions, all these comes with highest quality vocal.
