You can never go wrong with the best female vocalist in the world currently. This is an old poem over 100 years old, it is a part of a cycle of five poems with the title insomnia. The heroine of the story describes her condition both physicaly and mentaly, she can not rest not in in the day not in the night and so she walks this half reality half dream path in the night and she feels that she slowly is slipping in to un-reality in to a dream where everything else is real except her own self.

Interpretation of Diana and Brandon’s song “In a Huge City”: The great Russian poetess Marina Tsvetaeva gave birth (not “wrote”!) poems with a quality of meaning inseparable from the sound of her words in Russian. It is IMPOSSIBLE to understand the meaning of these poems, or rather, these sounds without perceiving their Russian sound (try translating Kipling, or Byron, or Shakespeare into Russian, and then back into English! Try it!). This is exactly what Diana and Brandon are doing in this song - the correspondence of meaning and sounds. This cannot be explained in words: how to add up the sum of meanings and the sound of speech??!! This can only be heard by the soul. To hear, repeated many times, a combination of melody, words and sounds of instruments, the main one of which is Diana’s voice - the most complex of them all. Hence the advice - reproduce in yourself the images given by Marina (night, wind, black poplar, light from the window, ringing from the tower, “And this is the shadow, but not me”, “Friends, understand that you are dreaming of me”) ...and listen, listen, listen to the voice(s) of Diana singing this... And you will enter the door of This universe - through the beauty paved by Diana and Brandon. This song is about insomnia and loneliness.

This is the high poetry of Marina Tsvetaeva. Everything here is built on images. The essence: the heroine walks through the night city and describes the reality she sees. The only thing she doesn't see is herself. She sees even the shadow of her body, but does not see herself in reality.

🎵🇷🇺👍🙂 try to replace the verb "to be" to "to exist". The World is around, but she is out of it . The shadow is her, but she is feeling that she is alive in dreams only. The song is about tragic lonliness, love relationship is ended, but love does not. Sadness in the night... in her huge city. The lirycs is the poem of Marina Tsevetaevs, the genious russian poetess, tragic person. The poetic cycle Insomnia was written by her in 1916.

The song "In a huge city" is about a young woman who suffers from insomnia and leaves her house at night on the street. Her husband and daughter stayed in her house. She feels absolutely alone in a huge city. The rhythm resembles the sound of footsteps. Lyrics by Marina Tsvetaeva. The poet told about herself when she was depressed and couldn't sleep.

Diana, as always, is beautiful!!! ... here's another thing...there is an inaccuracy in the translation. “there is a color in the hand.”.. not a flower. I do not know what Marina Tsvetaeva meant by this...this is probably a reflection of her inner state.

This song was written to the poetry of another very talented person - Marina Tsvetaeva. The poems talk about night walks and insomnia, but the second philosophical plan is a story about the illusory side of life, as reflected in the words “friends, understand that I am in your dreams.” I never thought that such sophisticated texts could be turned into a song.

Мне понравилось ваше доброжелательное отношение к Диане. Но вы совершаете общую для иностранцев ошибку - делите песню на части. У русских есть народное спа (баня). Это сочетание перегретого пара и ледяной воды. Баня для нас дело не только любимое, но и практически сакральное. Но попытка приобщить иностранцев к этому мероприятию наталкивается на непреодолимое "технически" препятствие. Оказывается абсолютно невозможно им объяснить, что предвкушение ледяной воды легко превращает "страдание" от перегретого пара в божественное удовольствие. Но иностранец настаивает на том, чтоб получить двойное страдание: он сначала направит все свое внимание на невыносимость жары, а потом отдельно начнет ужасаться холоду. НЕ ПРЕРЫВАЙТЕ ПЕСНЮ и у вас появится шанс услышать.

Диане как-то удается материализовать эмоции. Она их трансформирует в звук. А ведь первым было слово - звук. И этот звук заходит еще как! Чем больше слушаешь тем сильней заходит. Но тут не надо забывать и про человека по имени Брэндон Стоун (зачем ему сей псевдоним? Ну англоязычному уху так понятнее). А ведь весь звуковой ряд сопровождения мелодия и оранжировка это его голова и ум!

This is the third song I’ve tried from this woman, and she just doesn’t work for me. The thumbs down was for her, not you, because I like your channel. I just don’t like this singer; it happens. I’ll continue to check out reactions to other artists, but not her.

Eighties music, classic rock, contemporary Christian, and classic/ 80s and 90s country also, but far too many artists to list them all.

I'm glad you understand. It's hard to say that you don't like a singer in a way that their fans don't get upset, but one person's opinion shouldn't affect your opinion. I'm all for people enjoying whoever they want. I know I like plenty of musicians that others dislike, and that's fine. It just means that there is something for everyone.
