Diana was abused as a child and was thrown into the street with a broken arm by her mother. After being taken to an orphanage, she was adopted by the orphanage cook. She was unable to talk very well, so her adoptive mother hired a vocal coach to help her speak by learning tp sing. At age ten she performed -very well- on the Voice kids addition in Russia but didn’t get a chair turn. She learned as a kid to yodel. At 14 she was on You Are Super, which is for underprivileged kids and won performing Rechenka, which many consider a world class performance. At 15, they had her back on the show performing Wicked Game, and won again. She also performed Human at 15. She is a true contralto and you can detect the start of her deep voice when she was ten during the Voice performance.

Diana is 15 years old here. The competition is called You Are Super for orphans and children with needs. She won it at age 14 and returned at 15 to past winners and finalists competition, which she also won. Diana had a rough start in life. Her alcoholic mother did not want her and abused and neglected her. She was abandoned at 3 years old. A relative found her and took her to an orphanage. A worker at the orphanage adopted her, and because she could not speak, sent her to a vocal teacher where she was taught to sing, so she could learn to speak. Now look at her!!!

I'm so happy you found this unique talented girl! She was 14, they made a show for kids with tormented background, and they make funny, beautiful performances. Then Diana enters, with voice of an Earth goddess. And since the crew was highly professional they did excellent job giving her the opportunity to shine. She took it, won that season (season 2), and the season 3 (super season where the best returned) at age of 15. There are many many songs by her and they all amaze me do to his unique voice and style, but in my opinion only the TV show and it's concert gave her the professional enviroment to really shine, including background, stage director, sound engineers for audio quality, etc. So we can see, hear, experience her performance fully. Diana is very talented since she was a child, she is a master in yodeling and through the years she has been developing her amazing technique. Igor Krutoy one of the judges in this show is supporting her and now she is being trained in Moscow. Diana possesses the most recognizable dramatic contralto voice in the world. Diana is a contralto, which is a rare voice to begin with especially at her age, but you were right about the yawning analogy. It's a raised soft palate, low tongue position, low larynx and very open throat that gives her that mesmerizing resonance in her tone. Imagine how hard it would be to sing an entire song (or at least a large part of it) in this way. If you haven't done it already, check out her songs Rechenka and her cover of Human. Human is so ironic because the first impression you get is that her voice is NOT human! :)

She was not picked on Russia kids Voice. Watch her at 14yo yodeling. There was almost a scandal because no one picked her. Song choice was the main reason. I believe she sang it in German & English. Then do "Human" if you want to her lower register. As she was going on 18 she did a cover"her version of "Take on Me"(shows she is getting a higher range) also did "Havana" (In her room having fun). Singing Aribic "Helwa Ya Baladi" it's all good. You don't have to speak Russian or another language to enjoy.

Diana is now 18 and she is a master of multiple vocal tools, as yodel, growl, she resonates polyphonic easily from C3 without fry, masters belting with open pharynx and low larynx position and does other things which noone else can do, God knows how. Diana is 18 y o now, but there she was 15. Next is Rechenka (mandatory) at 14 y o. After Rechenka you can keep going with Human and a lot of other performances. Also very interesting performances like child: amazing "Je ne regrete rien" or spanish songs. Probably you won't make video reaction on all but for your culture try them at least in particular. Oh, and don't forget to check her history....a very sad one.

Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human. First, she is a dramatic contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice.
