My 164 th. Thanks for offering this way to not call it abstract but doodling. The contrast with darks and golds/ silver makes it very attractive. Al the kind of horizontal lines and the additions in layering and details made it a very beautiful archeological playful painting. Now waiting for Santa if he brought me a kuretake set😅 and I will give it a go . Have a very peaceful time the last weeks of this year😊Wim.

True story: I posted one of the paintings I did following your tutorial and a friend of mine liked it so much that she asked if I ever sell my paintings. I almost choked! I’m always so amazed when something turns out decent that I can’t bear to part with it! So I thought I might just paint another one. NOT POSSIBLE! What you just said about not being able to do commissioned work is absolutely true!

Same here!!! I've been told I should sell some of my art and it gives me huge anxiety! I gift it sometimes if I can bear to part with the few good ones. My son gives them to the ladies at church. I often wonder what actually becomes of them. I'm sure a great deal end up in the trash.

I used to sell my little paintings on eBay but nowadays the market is so stuffed with junk it’s not a place I want to be. And to think of my paintings ending up in the trash - oh dear, that’s horrible. Why not turn it on its head and give away the ones you hate? And keep the ones you like? It’s been my experience that my most popular paintings are usually my least favorite! Funny old world!

I watched this in bed without sound so I didn't disturb my husband. I was mesmerized watching the image in my mind change as the painting evolved. I thought of Montana and what lies under our mountains...gold, silver, coal, copper, sapphires, caverns, oil, dinosaur bones and a variety of rare materials. Your embellishments gave life and form to what I saw and felt. Powerful. Wow. I will watch again to hear what you were saying and thinking. It's a great painting experience as well as a fine work of art.
@DianeAntoneStudio9 ай бұрын
Oh thank you Connie, it was an interesting experience and not at all what I expected - I wonder if I was picking something up in the ether from the subconsciousness of my watchers - it certainly did seem to depict the richness of the underground world, and I think I talked about that a bit in the video. Sometimes I have to listen to it afterwards to know what I said as it is really stream of consciousness stuff! Hope you enjoy the narrated version! X
@conniejenskindsfather9799 ай бұрын
I just watched again and listened...oh my ...a slice of the landscape...what's down under is what I saw and felt. I grew up in Roundup, Montana which was a coal mining town. Not pit mining but underground. My Swedish grandfather owned a mine and sometimes he would take me with him. I rode in coal cars that went underground where the miners wore metal hats with lights so they could see. Montana has had several mining operations across the state for precious metals as well as productive oil fields. The gold spiral of energy you painted is accurate, too, because certain areas are active faults plus we are close to the second largest cauldra in the world in Yellowstone Park. Perhaps, we are on the same wavelength. It is indeed a powerful painting.

But anyway, I decided to paint her a Christmas card of the foxes that visit her garden,while I was explaining why I put foxes in the Christmas card 🙄 ,she suddenly said ' that's a good painting for you ' ? Anyway, the foxes came out to play while we were there and what a treat,mum and four cubs spent an hour playing on the lawn. Hi Diane, how does the Meeden 100% cotton compare to Arches or Saunders Waterford, in your opinion?
@DianeAntoneStudio9 ай бұрын
I don’t like Saunders - or at least the sheets I have on hand - because it is too absorbant for me. Arches is always a pleasure to paint on, but Meeden is very good and a less expensive option. Arches over here exists in several types of surface, some finer than others, and it’s very expensive. I use it occasionally but generally Meeden is my go to paper right now. I think we’re lucky to be able to get 100% cotton at that price. Formerly I had used Bockingford or Etival, which are cellulose, because of the price factor.
@debpaolucciojanomethreadar23579 ай бұрын
Diane I almost laughed about the mining comments. Then I realized that you might be serious. It is extremely rare that any minerals , gold, silver or other precious materials would be found anywhere near the surface. There are lots of mines in the USA not just the eastern regions. California was probably the most famous for gold mining. PS I'm always amazed what my brain thinks up to paint or mostly sketch.
