Your whimsy and thoughts out loud as you paint is so inspiring. I’ve been stuck in the realism mode for too long, your channel has given me permission to just have fun with paint without the pressure. Thank you. BTW, I’ve been painting for many years, studied with a variety of workshops and teachers in that time, but feel my art has advanced so much through KZbin. I’m 76, not elderly yet (lol), but finally call myself an artist.

Diane, it's November 5, 2024, and I am sitting here watching/listening to your video here. I am fighting tears. I am 73, single (not by choice), physically disabled, and struggle, living by myself. I have a Darling Daughter who lives in the state next over from me here in Georgia, USA. My 2 (indoors only) kittie boys and my art keep me company. These blues and greens are BEAUTIFUL!! I greatly enjoy watching/listening to you as you paint. I sooo enjoy whenever I get to hear the rooster. Listening to you and all your darling animals is verg comforting to me. Last night I followed your lead and dropped pretty colors into circles of water, and have a beautiful piece of painted paper to now paint leaves and "rough" roses. I will have to do this color combination now. Oh, AND you have inspired me to pull out various pens to also add "mark making" with them. Thank you for doing this channel. It is such a blessing to me. May God richly bless you and yours.

Hi there and sorry for the delay in replying, so I hope you get my message. Sorry that you are feeling lonely and that you’re struggling to manage. I’m so glad you enjoy the art and the animals and thanks for letting me know, because it’s very important to me and Tamsin that we are reaching people who need some support. We all struggle sometimes, but the least we can do is to share the love. Thanks for your kind words of blessing and I send you the same, and hope you see your daughter soon xxx

I hope this painting helped cheer you up a bit. In the video you said that you are not a real artist but you are a “dilettante.” A dilettante is a person who cultivates an area of interest without real commitment or knowledge. You are committed to watercolor and you have an extreme amount of knowledge so you do not fit the definition of dilettante. Therefore, you must be a real artist. :-) I call myself a watercolor artist or watercolorist all the time. Recently my husband was introducing me to someone and he said, "She is a watercolor artist," which made me very happy. No, I will never be Picasso but I know that others feel joy when they view my work. That's all I need.

My house backs up against woods and every year in the spring I have cardinals attacking their image in my study window so I have to do various things to stop them. At least I have no more stray cats living back there because now they live inside! I wanted to say something about your friend - besides being upset that someone was injuredin the accident, he may also. be worried about losing his license. I don't know what it's like there, but here in the states, if an older person is in an accident they look at you very carefully and sometimes make you take a driver's exam or classes. I'm 75 and have become very careful, not because my health warrants it, but because if I lose my license I'd be in a real bind. So he may be secretly worrying about that as well. No need to answer - you're busy making us all happy with your videos :-)
@DianeAntoneStudio Жыл бұрын
Hi Camela, you’re right, he is worried about that. I think he thinks he might be prosecuted and fined as well as losing his licence. He doesn’t have any money. He is really in a hole. But somewhere there must be a silver lining. I just said to him at least you weren’t hurt. Two years ago he did something similar and broke his arm falling off his motorbike. Time to slow down? Thanks so much for your kind comments xxx

Painting is what helped me through my stroke, then a month later my husband's diagnosis of terminal esophageal cancer, caregiving, being his hospice caregiver because we made a promise to each other and and now the journey of finding out who I am without him as he was also my best friend and we almost made it to 40 years of marriage. My dear friend…when we love…(family, friends, animals or other people in general) as you obviously do, we always pay the price of pain, grief, heartache. But without love, there is no life. Ideally, we would see only joy, kindness and compassion. However, we all know that isn’t the case. So all we can do is to keep caring and loving, and pray it makes a difference. Enough said. The painting is quite lovely. I’ll be sending healing white light to the precious bird and your friend as well. Tomorrow will be better.❤️❤️❤️❤️XOXO

I’m commenting at the end of the video. I love how this painting grew. It started out very sad and the more things you put on it, the more cheery it got. “Decorating” the leaves with the gold, and decorating the background and berries with spirals and more white, made it look more and more like how you paint when you are not sad. You ARE an artist, and an inspiring, teaching one at that!

I actually really needed something like this today. Nothing really happened but this grandma was feeling a little bit sorry for herself. I thought for sure when we move into an apartment community for people over 55 that we would have some free time and be able to enjoy our lives finally after working in bringing up kids for years however with the way the world is today some of the kids can't afford to work and find daycare so now my husband and I are finding ourselves 810 hours a day taking care of a one-year-old and a three-year-old. No time for ourselves at the time we can't even make doctor's appointments or things that you have to do when you get to be over 65. So I was just feeling a little gloomy and very tired today and I wanted to pay but couldn't figure out what to put on the paper I think I sat down at the table for 5 times today but now I feel inspired to sit down and let Grandma's brain wander a bit through the watercolors

A huge thank you from this beginner….I went into a bookshop yesterday and found a lovely book of Katherine Mansfield of flowers and plants…that’s my Easter gift to myself , as I looked at the beautiful colours I could see how they could all be water coloured loosely….you cannot have too many books on colour-can you….waffles of a beginner 😅…Made a lovely card for an elderly friend-using colourful yellows oranges and pink which she adored…she’s 98yrs old, spritely and mentally sharp as a tack - texts on her mobile…reads constantly, doesn’t have time to be sleeping in her chair… ❤ thought I would follow your inspiration today and use several tones of the pinks red yellow and muted purples -something for her - A5 size-see what happens. I never thought I could do anything with anything with paints, gel pens etc, bc of you and an another elderly friend (86 yrs an ex teacher) I’m not afraid anymore, I can empty out my mind, letting go of control. Thank you Diane-have a blessed day… 💚🐈⬛🐕🐏🐝🐔💚 thank you for sharing your bird rescue…that’s what I love about you, your compassion for the animal kingdom…💕🦄 🥝

Hi Mary and thanks so much for your interesting and helpful comments. I had forgotten about Katherine Mansfield but I’m so glad you mentioned her. I think I’ll try to get hold of some of her books of stories. Such a shame she died so young. I can’t have too many books, that’s for sure, and Kindle is a boon as well! Instant gratification! So glad you are enjoying the videos and the loose work we do - it’s the best way to get over a block, and honestly I often think the random paintings are more beautiful than the carefully engineered ones! Thanks again and have a wonderful paint-filled day! Xxx

Wow Diane, this is one of my very favorites. Your emotion showed in every thing you did. The colors you picked were so beautiful together with the gold and the little white daisy's were a magical choice. Even though this painting made my eyes feel happy ( if that's possible) I think all the choices were sexy all together. Thank you for sharing

Diane, I am so sorry for the dark cloud hanging over you and your friend, we never know why things happen, especially in these past few years where the world has just gone crazy. I am in America and we are not sure from one day to the next what we will face with our current crippled administration. I stumbled onto your channel and am in awe of your various paintings, I just love the free way you paint, it inspires me to pick up my watercolors again. I am glad the little bird will be ok and the sun comes out tomorrow, we are all in God’s caring hands. Thank you for sharing, I love your channel❣️

Thanks Brenda for your kind words. Now the only cloud hanging over us is the weather, which is absolutely foul here in France! Hope you are having a good day, and sending you God’s blessings and my thanks for your support xxx

Thank you so much 😀 I just rescued another one which had been blown over and stunned by the wind. We have very high wind gusts today. I think the little chap is ok. He tweeted a „thank you“ as he flew away!

Hi Diane, at least you have been painting this afternoon; I’ve just been watching you paint🤣. This “depressive-blue” painting you did is very pretty 💙. I really liked it. My husband passed by & said “oh, that looks really nice!” I’m so sad & sorry for your older friend & the accident he had😞. Life is very hard & difficult many times. I’ll pray for him & you; that you both find peace & ❤️🩹 healing.

Thank you for sharing this. I, too, am experiencing some sadness with not one but several losses and unplanned changes in a very short time period. I’ve painted just a background of swooshes so far. Oddly, I went to lighter colors, but evidently that was what I needed to do. Just doing the background has already helped. I’ll start doodling later today. Perhaps on my lunch hour. Again, thank you. Art and music can express the things we cannot articulate. Isn’t that a blessing?!

Sorry to hear you’re going through things too Pam, I hope it resolves soon. Art definitely is a blessing, one of the greatest, I believe. Hugs!

I think it is very sweet that you came to your studio and painted a lovely picture and shared with us! I'm sorry you had to experience such an awful day. Spring is finally here in the north and I for one thought it would never come. Getting the itch to get my hands in some dirt! Your studio is wonderful! Oh, that precious bird...I hope she (or he) is truly fine. Looking forward to your next idea. We used to sign off in the 70's: "Keep on keeping on!" cas

Very melancholy and sad and understandably so. Yet you still produced a beautiful piece. I hope the injured person will be ok. My heart goes out to your friend. I could not imagine the huge stress that would place on him, only to liken it to how my dad, who is 80 and not a frail 80, would react. The colours you chose, as you would know, are calming and I hope they gave you some sense of quiet. Odd thing happened just as your video finished a bird flew into my outdoor blinds! I think it just stunned itself and off it went again. Puss and I were sitting outside and we both looked up as we heard the THUD. I was glad to read your bird recovered. Take care of you x

I also find that art is a great healer. I found your video very soothing. I needed it as I am very sad about losing my cat through renal disease. I am heartbroken to see her go, but art is also keeping me sane. Thank you for sharing your wonderful painting and your vulnerability. It takes courage to do so.

So sorry to hear about your cat Michele. Always so hard to say goodbye to our beloved pets and painting is definitely a big help, isn’t it. Just occupies those brain cells which won’t shut up otherwise! Hope you find another companion soon xxx
