Hi Diane, I've been following your channel for a year or 2 now. I love it. This si the first time I've posted, I believe. I am very new to watercolour in the scheme of things. I have learned most of what I know so far from you. I find the style easy enough for me to follow but the results are so good. As for the resources; sometimes I tape, sometimes I don't, depends on what I want from the painting. I use whatever I have. I've been using standard watercolour paint but have seen you do so much with Kuretake. I love your results so much, I asked my son for some at Christmas. I can't wait to use them more. As for the rest of it, I love your voice and your stories. Please carry on being you. We love you just the way you are.

Warm welcome to the channel! So glad you found us and that you enjoy what I do! The dark colours over the lighter colours are made possible mostly by using the type of Japanese paint I’m using often (although often I use traditional watercolour paint too).

Sorry to hear that you’re having the same problem as me Hilary. I’ve never had such a problem as this with headaches before, but I’m pretty sure it is my neck muscles. I’m trying to find everything to try to fix it. Yesterday I started to take magnesium and vitamin D because I’ve heard that it’s good for muscles to make them relax And I’m going to try to do more painting vertically rather than leaning over the paper. That is going to take some getting used to, however! Sorry to hear that you’re suffering from the same thing. It’s a real problem. All the best and happy painting.

@DianeAntoneStudio14 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it. I actually don’t believe in the idea that everyone has the right to speak their minds - I believe in the first principle that you should consider the feelings of the recipient of the comment and decide whether you would like to be criticised for everything YOU do too! You are absolutely right - as we were taught by our parents “if you can’t say anything nice, say nothing” is a very useful maxim. It used to come in handy for my dad when my mum said “do you like this hat?” LOL!

Very lovely! The colors turned out just so pretty. Tape is tape! People need to get a life and stop telling others how to live theirs! Im living in a hellscape here in Southern California with fires devouring entire neighborhoods. Everyone here knows someone who has lost their home or business or is evacuated. It is day 5 with fires still blazing and more winds predicted. Watching a relaxing painting video is a welcome respite.from the local fire updates. Hoping your headache starts getting better.

@DianeAntoneStudio14 күн бұрын
Yes, so sorry to hear that you have terrible fires - what a tragedy for everyone and everything concerned. Really words are not adequate to express the sadness we feel for your situation, and how we are only too well aware that it could happen anywhere at any time. Only 2 years ago here in wet and cold Brittany we had literally the FIRST wildfire on our heathland EVER and the fire brigades just didn’t know what to do about it. Luckily for us it was ten miles away and there was no habitation involved, but it was a wake up call.

I don’t use washi tape because it’s pricey in South Africa. I can’t afford artist’s tape either. So cheap masking tape is my go to, as it doesn’t stick all that well and doesn’t damage the paper when you remove it. But, why not use washi tape if it’s cheap where you live. Honestly Diane, I wouldn’t let the criticism get to you. You do you…we love you just as you are!

@Ann-ey1tw14 күн бұрын
I think people say the weirdest things to you, so bizarre. I agree I need to use my washi tape, but mine must be really cheap as it seems to come off easily. I’m glad you’re using the Art Nouveau set, I was just thinking I need to get back to them. Also, I’ve been using a desk easel for a few years. Once I got use to it,I liked it a lot better. But I do have to watch for too much running water, sometimes I don’t want it. I got a set of Derwent pastel watercolors for Christmas and I really like them. Very delicate colors, similar to the Art Nouvau ones. Take care, hope the easel helps the headache! PS, haha tell those that criticize you the cliff advice! I love your sense of humor!

I love the chocolate-y wet in wet leaves! Absolutely beautiful! Ibuprofen is my friend…I’m going to think about the table easel because I know it’s from looking down too much because how else do I paint? Thank you for the wonderful video!
@DianeAntoneStudio14 күн бұрын
Sounds great! I’m certainly hoping it’s going to help me! If you do decide to use the table easel remember that for awhile you will find it awkward to paint because you need to retrain your muscles that you’ve been using in a certain way for a long time. I definitely noticed the difference. But I know that I can do it because I have painted on an easel for many years when I was doing oils and acrylics and a specific style of watercolour that required me to stand upright and paint on an easel. Definitely worth thinking about because a constant headache is something nobody wants to live with! Thanks so much for your appreciation and for enjoying the videos!❤️

There are people out there who don’t like them for various reasons which I don’t actually believe to be true or important. There is pressure from vegans not to use any animal byproducts. However, I am of the opinion that since animals are killed to be eaten, there is no further harm to be had by using their byproducts. I am a vegetarian myself and choose not to eat meat, but I don’t disapprove of the use of ox gall or gelatin in paint. Thanks so much for your support for the channel and I’m so glad you enjoy the videos!

Diane, I’m really sorry these critical people find your videos and can’t think of a nice comment to make… because there are many good things to learn and hear about as you tell us all sorts of interesting bits while you paint. But really! picking on what kind of tape you use is really petty…just my opinion. Keep doing what you do and ignore what’s not useful! BTW I notice this type of commenting all over social media. If it helps it’s just that some people don’t seem to be very happy and they need to share their unhappiness…that’s to bad.

A bot -- short for robot and also called an internet bot -- is a computer program; that operates as an agent for a user or other program (facebook fakes their own accounts to keep users engaged in groups) or to simulate a human activity. Bots are normally used to automate certain tasks, meaning they can run without specific instructions from humans. But I am a human.. one who doesn’t care if you drop your crumbs.

Hi Susan, and thanks so much for your hilarious support! I’m reading the comments before I get up this morning and I’ve just finished my 1st cup of coffee. Hopefully that will put me in a good mood for the day ! So glad that you enjoy the channel - thanks for all your kind and funny comments!

If you want to use washi tape, use washi tape 🤦♀️🤷♀️ I have a few packs that i use, it doesn't stick to the paper as much as masking tape does, so is easier to remove. Why on earth would anyone tell you not to take ibuprofen? It's all I can take for pain 🥴 Why are some people so annoying? Carry on being you Diane, it's what we love 😁 I do hope you get rid of your stressful situation and your headache soon 🤞

LOL Pauline, good question, why are so many people so annoying!!!! I don’t like paracetamol but many people swear by it - ibuprofen works for me but I’m trying to release the muscles I think are causing this headache by stretching and meditation etc…. Thanks so much for your support x

I love this style of painting but when I do it, it just doesn't seem to look right! ❤

Lovely painting❤ I find your channel and you refreshing as you let the busybodies know what is what in a fairly placid way. 😊 I think its great. AND you certainly dont need anyone's permission to washi or Kuretaki, least of all mine or above mentioned busybody. Sorry you feel anxious. And definitely ( unsolicited advice) keep away from unsolicited bitcoin and block chain mssgs. They're scams. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks so much for the (unsolicited!!) advice, greatly appreciated!! I imagine some people are taken in by such scams. We get lots of dodgy emails and messages every day - my “delete” button is wearing out!

I WANT TO make an announcement to your critic who called you evil for using Washie tape...I bought and paid for and use Washie tape all the time! I hope that lady goes out of her mind when she hears my confession!!!

Oh, good grief! What everyone else said. It's easy to be critical especially with the relative anonymity of the internet. Unfortunately, it's a playground for the small-minded. I'm sorry about your troubles. Family stress is the worst. I hope everything works out and you find some serenity soon. You are making a difference here!

Thanks Donna, it’s knowing we are making a difference that keeps us sane over here too! Thanks for your support and positivity! Xxx

Don’t care about the mean things people say., I think some people need to get a life. Who cares what type of tape you use?
