Hi flylady Diane. Once again thank you for a very helpful video. I always remember your advice about which routine to concentrate on depending on whether you work outside or inside the home. That was such an 'aha moment' for me. On workdays I make sure I don't slip up on my evening routine and on weekends I make sure I start my morning routine. It has made a tremendous difference! 🤗

Wow! Look at you hopping out of bed and starting right up. You go girl! :) I've had to modify my morning routine a little. I have fibromyalgia and arthritis and I do NOT move like that in the morning. I get up between 4 & 4:30 a.m. and I just stumble straight to the bathroom and soak in a hot tub for about a half hour. It works and I'm not loading myself with medication. After that I sit for a few with a cup of coffee and go over the FlyLady flight plan for the day and watch 1 or 2 of your videos. Then at 5:30 a.m., the day starts. Dressed to shoes (somedays slippers because I can't find a pair of shoes that don't cause me leg pain to wear all day, but I'm still searching), dogs go out to the bathroom and get fed, insulin given to the diabetic dog, and then I start everything on my morning routine. I'm still really new at this, Day 11, but I'm working it because my life is spinning out of control with CHAOS! Thank you so much for all you do. It's appreciated. God bless!

Made so much sense- totally my motivational issues in each situation. Thanks for thinking it through for us!

Thank you Diane. I’m a full-time working Mum leaving the house at 8am Mon-Fri and returning at 5:45pm. My morning routine on a workday that I always do is: make bed, get dressed, put load washing on, boil kettle, race kettle while unloading dishwasher, make cup of tea, eat breakfast, load dishwasher with breakfast dishes, shine sink, change bird cage liner/seed/water, change dog’s water & feed dog, empty rubbish and put by door ready to take with me to bin when I leave, put on makeup/do hair, hang out washing, water garden 10 mins, lock house, carry rubbish to the bin and go. I’m also trying to add 20 mins of exercise at the start. I’m usually running out the door. You are correct that most of my cleaning happens at night (bathroom/toilet/kitchen/floors/fold & put away washing) and my weekend is very busy catching up with the housework, decluttering, shopping & gardening. The transition from SAHM to full-time working Mum has been a very big challenge for me.

Wow can I suggest that you pay a cleaner two hours a week to give you some downtime in the weekend, if you can afford it given that you are working full time. Assuming you don’t have a partner as they don’t seem to doing any of it.?

I love your openness and honesty about feeling anxious, a bit scatterbrained, and overthinking things. I think many can relate, and the Flylady routines really help us keep on track, especially the morning routine, for me. Before Flylady took over, there were two other ladies who wrote a book called “Sidetracked Home Executives,” and they wrote about this clutter of the mind that gets us sidetracked. Anyway, thank you for sharing.

This popped up and it was great to re-visit this. I've been "fledging flybaby" since 2019 😢 2025 I will FLY - starting right now and so much of it I remember but the one thing I am doing differently is actually writing down the routines for morning ( just done it before I watched 😊) it makes sense and I don't know why i resisted doing it! On the "bleu days" seeing it written down will keep me on track - I used to tell my students " make short notes, the process puts the info securely into your memory " but i didn't take my own advice! A senior pooch with health issues for 3 years followed by a puppy ( now 2 years) meant more chaos and worrying and overwhelm. Thanks to the algorithm for KZbin popping this video into my feed today 🎉 have a lovely xmas and happy healthy 2025 Diane. Big love from Scotland ❤

The last point is definitely the most important one. I'm 25 and moved to my first own flat earlier this year. My morning routine so far is: wake up; lie in bed and deal with the fact that I'm still alive; go to the bathroom; get changed; hurry out of the house because I'm running late; and it's been this way since middle school. I've also been working 3 shifts for 1,5 years now, so morning and evening will be at a different time every week. I won't be able to change that. Instead I thought about doing something like an "after work routine" and later when I've got that down I can think about a "before work routine"

YES, YES, YES! I am going to share WAY too much here, but because you shared, I will too. I am always nervous & anxious all the time. I suffer from chronic migraines and no longer work (I had to leave a job that I loved). I started having horrible panic attacks a few years back. Thank you very much, Diane, for this one. I started with Flylady sometime around 2005 and then in 2009 completely fell off the waggon because of ... well, life. ;-) I joined again last year (2021), knowing that I had a very difficult move ahead of me. (Our lease had been terminated because of own needs of our landlord.) I didn't "advertise" it, because most of my friends, not knowing the system, would probably have told me I was crazy to try this while in limbo between one flat and the next. But I mostly stuck to the baby steps and the decluttering during that time. And especially the decluttering was a GREAT help and made the move a lot easier. (And left me with a lot less "stuff"!) Now things have quieted down and I am trying to get back into the general system. But somehow I hardly ever get the evening routine of putting together my clothes for the next day done, which Marla claims to be amongst the most important ones. So over the last few weeks I have really been struggeling with it. But you explaining that people working from home might find the morning routine much more important definitely helped! I just realised that, when I first started with Flylady, I was mostly working outside of my home, while now I am mostly at home. So there is no need to grab clothes without having to think about them. I much more prefer to have a look outside of my window to see what the weather is like, to notice what my mood is, and then choose my clothes accordingly. So, goodbye bad conscience, thanks to you! :-)

Hi Diane. I really enjoy your videos. I am a little O/C when it comes to keeping everything clean/tidy, but I simply cannot function in clutter and chaos. It makes me crazy, anxious. My 2 daughters also keep exceedingly clean/tidy homes. Like you, first thing I do is make my bed every morning, then feed my 2 spoiled indoor cats, clean their litter box, fill bird feeders, sweep/tidy patio, have cup of coffee, then shower/dress. I work from home now so I can do laundry or vacuum in-between emails since I don't go out for lunch. I use the Marie Kondo method for folding linen, clothing, etc. I go through closets quarterly and donate to charity those items I am not utilizing. I have a closet of quality garments...but not a lot. Less is more. Like you, I absolutely hate clutter. A cluttered home is a dirty home. I can't think or relax if there is clutter about. My fridge is sanitized weekly when I do my grocery shopping. Dry goods/canned goods are neatly organized in cabinets. Kitchen linens are neatly folded in drawers. I vacuum daily and steam floors once/twice week to sanitize. I dust weekly, including window sills and fan blades on the overhead fans. Bed linens are washed twice weekly. I wash the mattress pad and pillows every other week. Bathrooms cleaned/sanitized daily. Sounds like a lot, but like you say, once you make cleaning/organization a daily routine, it becomes automatic. I love having a clean, fresh smelling home. I've lived in my apartment complex for 10 years and whenever they do any maintenance, I'm told "This is the cleanest apartment I've ever seen, it smells so good in here!" Then they tell me the "horror stories" they encounter daily, lol! BTW, my daughter and I vacationed in Copenhagen last October after reading a Hygge book. We both fantasized about moving there (!!). I almost married a Dane long ago. He was perfect in every way but liked Heineken a bit TOO much...🍺😉

New comer to your vlog. Very nice. I have just retired and I have been one of the privileged ones to be able to while I am still in my 50's. After so many years of working I am find it difficult to get myself into a routine and sticking to it. This fly lady approach sounds very appealing. So I will be following you to see how you cope and incorporate your ideas.

The FLYlady system is such a neat program!!! Happy Easter. Love your accent. I hope to visit Denmark one of these days. It's so lovely.

Hi Dianne, we had snow flurries on Saturday morning too. I love my morning routine because it helps me feel like I know where to start and what to do.I find many days if I can not get other tasks done at least my house is clean enough and tidy from doing my morning routine. This is where I went wrong all the years while raising 3 children, I would try to do a big project like reorganizing a closet or completely emptying and scrubbing the fridge and at the end of day before supper I would turn around and the house would be a complete disaster( but my closet or fridge was clean) and then I would have to make supper mess too.I was always in CHAOS.

It's so nice to get out of that chaos - long live Flylady!

Great Vlog. I line dry everything too. Easy in Australia as I live in a area that is very mild.

I love all of the advice and information you give to us in your videos. My BIGGEST problem is getting motivated to get started on the weekends. Any advice on that?

Hope you worked out your weekends. I find that doing daily routines during the week means that I can do less on the weekends. Xx

New Flybaby here, but as an empty nester, married school teacher, my morning routine has always been pretty much FlyLadyish out of necessity (or my own weird quirks) - make bed, coffee, shower, dress, countertops, sinks, and pets. Afternoon and evening do need structure as I let necessity dictate priority, which means...always behind or catching up with household chores, planning, etc. I love the new format I am adapting. Thank you so much for sharing!

This is very helpful. My morning routine, so far, is: wake up, walk the dog, exercise (or exercise/walk the dog), shower, clean something, breakfast, then get in to my Dailies (personal stuff I want to do). My cleaning is all over the place and I am hoping that FlyLady will help me organize that aspect of my life more. I suffer from asthma, so there are times I can barely climb a set of stairs. I managed a small system, but it ended up being mostly a repeat of the same stuff (even on good days). Dressing up to go out in the morning is helping my mindset. Still looking for the right footwear :)

I'm envious that you can blow dry your hair like that and your hair is so smooth and lovely! Mine would take a lot of work with a round brush to look like that!

LOL! And I'm envious of those with long hair who can simply put it into an elastic or pony tail...!

Good morning! I subscribed to your channel a few weeks ago but am just now getting around to watching one of your videos and since I'm struggling with routines right now, this seemed like a good place to start. I was in a very serious accident 2 years ago and I have struggled to find routines that work with my disabilities since then, so it's been hard to stay on track. I love your personality in your video and how you explain the importance of your routines. Plan on watching more of your videos as I have time today. And since I'm sitting at my desk without having done my morning routine yet again, I think I'll go do that now. Thank you for taking the time to share your own journey with us.

Hi wonderful FlyladyDiane!!! Greetings from very hot Southern California! Diane, my eye doctor said that watery eyes are a sign of dry eyes! My dad’s eyes were always watery. She told me that using eye drops at least morning and night helps. It really does. I would suggest that you see your eye doctor for your watery eyes. Thanks for your wonderful video

Diane, you are so right about how we can slip up on weekend's. We dont get up as early and I don't want to disturb my hubby while showering and getting ready so everything is kind of thrown off😕 You inspire me though because you always look so fresh and pretty and I know that can be so energizing and I want to feel that way too! Lol.

And your advice about if you stay home to focus or morning routine is spot on. It sets me up for success when I am able to do it.

Thank you Diane for these great videos! I got so much accomplished this week! Just discovered you all about a week ago. Such wisdom in these principles. I now have hope that I can keep going. It really is the little routines that set the trajectory for the rest of the day! Thanks again!
