Great video. Your clothing is always so beautiful - you have great taste. I am seeing excellent progress with flying! I was very excited to have completed all...yes ALL the laundry in the house this week!!! I went to put a load of laundry on Saturday and realised I didn't need to. The best advice my mom ever gave me was, "clean while you go" in the kitchen. I clean or load the chopping board, the knives, the measuring cups, pots/pans and clean countertops/stove/sink as I cook so when I sit down to dinner everything is already clean. Then we each load our plate/dish into the dishwasher after eating.
@iammlyss3 жыл бұрын
Same here. So I only have to put my plate and fork into the dishwasher after finishing meal. Clean the table and that’s it. This is a life time routine I’ve learned as a kid. However same with putting out the dishes after the dishwasher is finished. I hate to put everything out in the morning, I’ll do it in the evening so I’ll come onto a fresh clean kitchen in the morning.

If you're a morning person, who is very tired by dinner time, try getting your dinner ready in the afternoon. All of the prep dishes can get washed and put away then. Pop the dinner in the oven when it's time to eat and clean up is so quick and easy. Morning people's energy fades as their day goes on, so anything that can be done early in the day will make the later part of the day go easier.

Love having only 10 dresses as my entire wardrobe. They are hung in a row with the matching jewelry hung on the hanger with each dress. No thinking, no planning. Dress on the left is the outfit of the day. I add a sweater if it’s chilly or I’ll be in the air conditioning.

What a fabulous idea! I have far too many tops and bottoms that just don't go together and always looking for the perfect match that isn't wearing with jeans, I've actually bought myself a couple of simple shift dresses for the summer and love wearing them, I think I might have to add more and let go of some of the separate pieces. So true about the routines following us where we are. While camping I make the bed in the morning and can't stand going to bed if the camper is messy. Also get my camping coffee pot ready in the evening so that in the morning I just flip the switch, ride my bike to the restrooms and get back to nice hot coffee to relax outside with before hubby gets up and the campground gets busy. FlyLady routines have made my life so much nicer...

Agree. Begin meal preparation by filling the sink with wash water. There is time to wash, dry, and put away the prepware while the food is cooking. You need to hover over the meal as it cooks anyway so cleanup is the best use of that time. Also the prepware is easiest to clean before the ingredients have had time to dry up. When you've finished dining, all that remains to clean are the dinner plates and utensils and perhaps a cookpot or two. Sometimes I've been able to wash the pots right after the food is cooked. At other times, I use a serving bowl so I can start soaking a pot before sitting down to eat. It feels marvelous to walk into a clean kitchen right after a delightful meal. Wash up a few little things without breaking that pleasant mood.

I live in the US but when my husband and I visited a friend in Austria and we traveled to Germany as well and their bedding is the same way. We loved the simplicity of everything and it really inspired us to work on our own spaces. I wish the mixture of the cultures in America could bring back their little nuggets of tradition to the new generations. I have a lot of British decent and tea time was very big for my mom growing up. I would love to make that part of my tradition with my littles. The simple things are really so delightful.

We have a small office outside the house I use to teach English. Anyway, Things like the Swish and Swipe can only be done in the evening for me (I live with my husband, his parents and his sister...so five adults total. Oh, and a cute dog :). I'm trying to figure out how to work in hotspots and cleaning (though I am only on day 7 tomorrow). I have to manage it around the others in the house, and some hotspots/cleaning can only be done at certain times. The zone idea is giving me ideas on how to manage it better, so I can't wait to get to that part of the Baby Steps. This is so exciting!

@DianeinDenmark7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jemma! How fun - but you don't need to spend money! Are you looking out your outfit the night before, and picking out a piece of jewellry, scarf or other accessory? Wear a fancy top (one that you might have been keeping for 'formal') with a pair of dark jeans. My uniform is dark jeans, a top (I don't suit t-shirts) plus a cardigan/jacket. I get together with friends and we have clothes swap parties (we all bring a bag of things we have decluttered). It's a great way to try new styles without forking out. And I buy a lot of my jewellry from charity shops :-)

There are lots of good Flylady videos out there but your style really speaks to me Diane. Maybe it's because I'm Scottish too :-) I guess I've been a Flybaby for years without knowing it, as I do tend to put things away, do laundry regularly and avoid having too much stuff. However my current challenge of trying to redecorate my home to sell it *and* keep everything else under control is going to require more structure to make decent progress, so I am grateful for content like yours to help me get more organized. If you or anyone else who reads this could advise, I'd be grateful to know whether you think it is worth letting the daily routines slip somewhat to bash on with the decorating and ruthless dejunking or ensuring everything is kept in order and taking a little longer to get the projects finished. I abhor a mess, but only have so much time in a day so could put up with a little chaos for the goal of moving in with my fiancé, who is helping as much as he can for he's keen to put the second ring on my finger.

Hi Mom! Please don't be so hard on yourself and try to do the whole system at once. I know that you are following the 31 babysteps which is a fantastic place to start. Keep your routines short and be consistent with them before adding in the Weekly Home Blessing. After you are comfortable doing that, you can add in one or two missions for the zones. Are you using a timer, and did you make a Control Journal (we start that on day 8 of the Babysteps)? They will keep you on track and stop you from spending too much time. Remember to take breaks, too! Hugs!

@DianeinDenmark7 жыл бұрын
Hi Diege! I'm from Edinburgh so I feel right at home with the Danish weather! LOL I just use whatever is available to shine my kitchen sink...as you can see from the video, it's usually the hand towel or dishtowel which I have been using that day. I just dry out the sink, I don't spend hours polishing it.

I love your timber benchtops, does it take much to maintain them? People have put me off by saying they need regular maintenance?
@DianeinDenmark3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa! Our worktops are solid wood and very easy to maintain...I give them a very quick sand (by hand, not machine) every six/nine months, and brush on some linwood oil from IKEA. That's it!

Lovely, thank you for all your tips. -------------- Speaking of DYT: All on you- your sweater, necklace, nail polish, all clothes, colors are type1. Your energy likewise. Looking at facial features apple cheeks, rounded profile around your chin, sparkle in your eyes, round eyes, are all suggesting type one. All but your haircut that however used to be type 1. My guess is you are 1/4 and absolutely complete in that. Your secondary type four inspires tidiness and order, while type one carries it all through with indisputable sparkle and lightness. BTW, the beige outfit behind on your door looks sensational on a type one. :-) PS Maybe it is the other way round..I checked your Insta now......maybe you embraced the type one now, if so great!! You look fantastic and 1/4 can also look very sleek and put tighter in a type 1 choices (like th white jacket with flowing rounded back, marine trousers and block yet type one colors. Splendid!! It makes me happy when it all comes together. :-)) no matter whom it concerns.

Hi! 😃 Just to bring you up-to-date on DYT... Carol Tuttle very generously stepped in and helped me find my true self (she "cluebombed" me that I'm a 1/4) and you can see all my DYT related videos here kzbin.info/aero/PLxIYCyTLBED-_AxzW73x4ZWtikVFAvDQW I was also interviewed by her on her Energy Profiling Show, where she talks about "cluebombing" facebook.com/caroltuttle/videos/215942572601047/ Hope you enjoy!

I have a question. I don’t mind laying out my clothes for tomorrow but what to do with my worn clothes? Do you trow them in the laundry or hang them? I have a tendency to pile them up. And then think after an few days I don’t like the mess I’ll trow them in the washpile. 😕
@DianeinDenmark5 жыл бұрын
I air my clothes overnight and then put them back in the wardrobe. If they are dirty, they go straight in the washing basket. Don't pile them on "The Chair"! LOL!

All good...but I put the knives behind the tap so no one gets cut washing up later!

Hi FlyLady Diane, I love the clean look of no window curtains. What do you do about privacy (I am ground level). Do you have special windows that can change to frosty opaque ? LC in Massachusetts

Diane in Denmark ah lochend/restalrig (ish) how did you end up in Copenhagen? I’m planning to come to Copenhagen for my 50th in September! I have fallen in love with scandi style I watch signe in Use less. I’m exploring hygge and Lagom ( which I know is Swedish) I am on the autistic spectrum and experience poor executive function so I am hoping that the FlyLady structure will help me. I’m out at the gyle with a one bedroom upper villa so space is very limited. I am working on my own concept of “my capsule life” and if I could just get a bit more organised I am planning to create content on social media have camera and mic but trying to get spae to set up is nigh on impossible. I am just on baby step 6 so have Managed to get up fold my cover dressed to shoes and makeup postit notes currently being placed where I will see them had my breakfast hoping coffee and cigarette will count I shown my sink last night and have pulled a disk file to begin working on my control folder so a very productive morning. And swif and swiped bathroom and kitchen. Wow things never go this smoothly. Will do little messages as you requested. Tomorrow will be a bigger challenge as back at work much love. I bless you jennifree

I love how you set out the most beautiful outfits each evening, with jewelry and vests. I'm envious. I work on my little farm every day and my clothing has to consist of overalls, and mens long sleeve button down shirts to protect me from the sun and the dirt. Yuck. I wish I could look so nice as you. At least I put my make-up on though. That makes me feel pretty.

Thank you Diane! day 8 on my evening routine here....always basic 4 + 1 bonus steps (hot spot/prepare for bed-make-up off etc/lay out outfit/go to bed decent hour + shiny sink).....at the end of this second week I shall add another step, that I used to do a long time ago (and you do too) prepare morning breakfast table...Not doing more than this as my main focus while my decluttering is going on...take care!!
