Ok but is no one going to talk about how *raw* of a line "I will wash away your tears with my blood" is?

So I'm currently writing a young adult series with Diarmuid as one of the protagonists and I have to ask this, "Was Diarmuid and Grainne's relationship healthy? Like I find it hard to believe that love could ever blossom in a relationship where Grainne essentially forced Diarmuid to betray his friend and lord Fionn Mac Cumhail by placing a geis on him. That being said does that mean that their relationship could be written as an abusive and almost hostage situation where Diarmuid is the victim?"
@SyrMusic4 жыл бұрын
Jake Farrell It’s definitely possible! And though this particular song is about another love of his, the flight of Diarmuid and Grainne seems at a glance to be about impassioned youth making rash decisions (which is why some of the Fianna were willing to help them escape together). But it would be quite an interesting take to write it from the perspective you’re suggesting, and their relationship could definitely be interpreted as unhealthy. Especially given that after Diarmuid’s death to the Boar of Ben-Gulbain, (coincidentally another geis), and despite Fionn’s refusal to save him in time, Grainne actually returns to be with Fionn instead of taking revenge on him, and the rest of the Fianna hate her until the end of her days, seeing her actions as a betrayal of Diarmuid!

Could diarmuid have refused her? I mean I'm assuming that the geis are like cu culain's vows, once broken you are screwed, but to my understanding she confessed to him and they both decided to run away until fion was like "meh let's go boar hunting like robert baratheon"
@lisamutschler28683 жыл бұрын
Diarmuid was loyal to Fionn, Grannie forced him to go with him. I mean it was like you can choose, take me away or stay and youre lord and all of youre friends will suffer terrible fates and so on. So what would have you chosen in his place?

I've got to say, the think I love about your music is the medieval-day feel to it. I've always been obsessed with the medieval days, to the point where I wanted to even be a Blacksmith. I've always enjoyed the thought of having my own forge. even if it wasn't common for girls, but I'm no lady, I'm a tomboy through and through.

This is by far one of my favorite and one of the most tragic of tales. Diarmuid Agus Grainne. Cursed with a beauty mark that makes women fall for him, and Grainne seeking a path out of a marriage to Finn MacCool, she places a geis on the unlucky hero, and they run away together. For many days does Finn chase Diarmuid for this slight, but one day he is 'forgiven' and is able to return to his brethren. The tragic part is that one day while hunting a boar, Diarmuid is fatally injured and required some water, but Finn spiteful still would let slip through his fingers the water he required every time he would grab some and left Diarmuid to perish.

Unless this is referring to his first love a fae woman which is an even more tragic tale to be honest and definitely worth looking into he fought so hard the try and get her back and in the end she ended up turning away

I'm in love with this song! Thank you so much!! And keep up the good work. I don't like to post comment anywhere, but you may want to know, that there is a game called Zelda:Breath of the wild, and I thought you were singing about it. It really has the same story in there, so I love this song even more about it, because i'm a huge fan of this game. And millions of other people, too. You may become very popular if more Zelda fans will hear it.

I also honestly you either hit or is about to hit the point where you either commit to continue, take a break and continue or stop... And if you really want to continue you would and I would honestly recommend using similar ones to 6- "Home" and 1- "Albion" if you really want to go back to your roots and discover of what you want to do next...
