I met Marcello Mastroianni when I was 15. He appeared behind me in front of the entrance of the building where I lived. I saw him reflected on glass. Once the entrance opened, he said: please, you first. He was playing for a TV movie shooted in that building. He was 35/40, no more. Never forget his voice and his being a gentleman. Our best actor

Sophia Loren is probably the only Italian actress I know who has always been capable not only to speak foreign languages fluently but also be expressive in any of them, humor included. And she was self-taught. And she has never forgotten where she came from. A splendid example of what it means to be Italian. In this particular interview, she really stood up to Dick Cavett's sexist questions. And the way she is trying to help Marcello Mastroianni with his English without ever sounding pedantic is yet another sign of elegance.

Absolutely. The current atmoshere in which people are formed lacks oxygen and thus people, including movie stars, are but carbon copies of themselves, with no breadth of life animating them. There is nothing real or true about them in their private or personal life. They are a reflection of life but not the real thing. I fear there is no returning to when humanity was the ether we breathed and the spirit that we embodied. People do not even understand what "humanity" is. Sophia and Marcello are the embodiment of a profound humanity and hence it's a privilege to witness and feel a part of their very gentle and subtle conversation. After it's over, It lingers like a beautiful perfume.
