When I was about 7, someone mistook my mom for Sofia... I yelled, NO, she is my mom! One of many reasons I called my son Carl was also because my mom loved the name Carlo (Ponti, her husband who discovered her). This interview was just splendid in real time and again, now. She still captures the hearts of all who watch her work.

I am Italian, arriving to the states as an infant. Now passed away, mom told us how she wanted to come to American for a better life. She was told once she went through the front door, don't come back. She passed away in her own home. I paid her debt to America with 30 years of military service. She became an American citizen the right way. I've kept a $2 bill and a copy of her formal naturalization, and found a $10 bill made the year she was born. She learned English through my school books and, would your believe, Sesame Street, as a child.
