To this day, one of my favorite memories is from undergrad when I bumped into Dickie V in Cameron. He had just recovered from beating cancer, and our game was his first one back. I got to high five him and wish him well, then he gave me a big bear hug with tears in his eyes. His passion for life and people is undoubtedly real, and I hope he'll be healthy and active for many more years.

Not a Duke fan by any means but I always thought it was so classy of Coach K after the Laettner shot to console Richie Farmer for UK. And not only that but to get on the radio with the late great Cawood Ledford and talk since he had called his final game for the Cats.

Always wanted to go to duke growing up due to the notoriety of the school. He most certainly has played one of the largest roles in elevating the org. Wished I had the privilege and opportunity to be coached by such an icon.

There are many Coach K haters out there and that's okay with me, it used to bother me, but those are the ones who just don't like to see excellence over and over again, year after year, the cream always rises to the top! What's most significant to me after watching Coach K and his teams for over 35 years, is that fire is deep inside Coach K, he is a driven man, but when the the game is over and he goes back to his wife and kids and later on his grandchildren, he's no longer Coach K, he's Michael, Daddy and Poppy......that's what it's all about and he truly loves people, his kindness and generosity is so very evident and the love for his players is immeasurable. No "hater" will ever change my mind about Coach K! Enjoy your family sir, you deserve a rest :)

As my dad always said, he's Dookie V, Baby. My dad hated Duke and wasn't the biggest fan of Dickie V. I love the Dookies and Dickie V has always held a special place in my heart. My dad died during the season Duke would eventually win its 4th national championship. He wasn't going to put up with Coach K usurping Bobby Knight in national championships. Knight was his guy. College basketball. Great memories.
