It's okay. Unlike most of us, entertainers that have left a music or film record get to live on through their art. For me, I used to feel a certain melancholy when such people passed, but then realized I was reacting more to the reminder of my own mortality. Yes, I tend to intellectualize things a bit. ;-)

About 10 years ago, I had the realization that with the baby boomers aging, we were going to start losing celebrities and at faster and faster rate. When I was a kid, my mom would say "these things come in threes" but often the third one was a bit of a stretch... now, these things come in threes, fours, fives, sixes...

Ken Hensley when living in Florida befriended my 2 brothers and their band “Sweetwater Junction” and played keyboard for them. Sweetwater Junction never recorded any albums but gave performances in middle & South Georgia. Met Ken several times and he always seemed to have fun. When Ken mentioned “jam” what he is referring to is getting together with your bandmates and jammin’ together. In 70s-80s many southern rock & roll events(esp. in Georgia) were called “Jams”. Some which began on Friday evening and played all the way through Sunday evening, 48 hours of continuous rock. Most events were held in rural cow pastures or hayfields and headlined 12-30 acts. Most law enforcements let everyone party and allowed the bands to play as loud as they wanted. These events were called Jams. Most of the “Jams” were for amateur bands and as an incentive to attract the best local rock band talents contests were held and concert goers would vote on their favorite band. Prize money was awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places. Great memories!

I love Uriah Heep. They had a great run of albums in the early to mid 70:s. The biggest three in heavy rock are considered to be Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. I love this band, first discovered them when I bought their "Best of..." on cassette out of a bargain bin. Their '70s albums were their peak and they've had a LOT of members pass through. The singer on this one David Byron died in 1985, bass player Gary Thain in 1975 who was replaced by John Wetton just out of King Crimson, Wetton died in 2017. He was replaced by Trevor Bolder who'd been in David Bowies Spiders from Mars band, he died in 2013.

The 1950's, 60's & 70's is where Rock music started. It changed the world. Now, those of us who grew up in that most unique era of human history are experiencing the loss of so many who created all this great music, while also going through a global pandemic. I understand that 2021 doesn't end it, but 2020 still can't end soon enough. I'm very concerned for the state of America, let alone the world, over these next 2 'lame duck' months. "Very" concerned.

I love Uriah Heep my friend. I did not know of Ken's passing. We lost David Byron (Vocalist) many years ago. He was a true rock star. ken was the genius behind Heep. He played Hammond and guitars and sand as well as the main songwriter. Unfortunately David Byron's drinking lead to the breakup of the band. They replaced him with John Lawton, who is a great singer, but Much different than David. The bassist Gary Thain was one of the early great bassists. Unfortunately he had a heroine addiction which led to his early death. You should check out more Heep. They are mainly an early prog band, but do have the occasional shorter more radio type songs.

Uriah Heep opened the show that night. No recording equal that night. Those on LSD never made it out the doors. Running into walls reason why.
