People that are calling this too far but then talking about missing the attitude era and or ECW in the same breath are a bit hypocritical.

I guess it is more of an age thing.. I am around Greg's age and fans our age were very fortunate to enjoy each "era of wrestling" at the perfect age.. we were children during the Hulkamania era in which the product was mostly targeted at kids, then when we grew into teenagers and grew out of the cartoony era so did wrestling with the Attitude/nwo era and now that we are older dudes we are the "extreme violence" that we saw as awesome as teenagers no longer appeals to us and instead drives us away
@angrydave23452 ай бұрын
@@radioVHS149 That is a totally fair point. I don't believe wrestling needs to be ultra violent all the time, and if your perspective has changed that makes perfect sense. My problem is more so the people who claim to miss the attitude era (despite most never even being fans back then) or chanting ECW. Then hating on this because it's AEW. If someone actually doesn't like it because they thought it was too far that is understandable, my point was more so to call out the tribals who would have praised this if wwe did it.
@clifforddavidson72732 ай бұрын
No. Because ECW also went to far too. There is also a difference. ECW often had to busy boundaries to the very and the often crossed past the point where it was harming the overall heath of pro wrestling due to being a smaller company with limited resources. AEW has NEARLY UNLIMITED RESOURCES. But never mind that what passes me off the most was it broken the cardinal sin when booking blood feuds. Would I or a normal person at their angriest be willing to do this in a fight? That's why Bret/Austin and Tully/Magnum stand the test of time.

I grew up watching the Attitude Era as a kid. So, while I understand what AEW was doing, I personally don't agree with this. Yes, wrestling should be violent at times. Especially if the storyline calls for it. For example, a blood feud should culminate inside Hell in a Cell. That being said, All Out was an example of things going too far. Suffocation, Syringe, Real Cinder Block, and a bunch of other unnecessary things that didn't need to occur last night. Some fans say that CZW does this, and my response would be: "Well, how many people are actually watching CZW compared to either AEW, TNA, or WWE?" I believe that less is more & like the saying goes: Just Because You Can Doesn't Mean You Should
@DeadmanInc3362 ай бұрын
All this shocking, over the top, violent stuff just really seems like AEW is desperate for any sort of attention. I have been saying for months that AEW isn't interested in catering to wrestling fans. It's interested in catering only to a really weird, very niche, very selective subsection of fans obsessed with trolling, shitposting, and trying to be edgy.

I've been interested in wrestling long enough to not be fazed by whatever nonsense bookers come up with, but because I've been interested in it that long I'm more concerned with the insistence on using real (ungimmicked) weapons - real glass, real cinderblocks, real woodwork/concrete etc. There's enough things to go horribly wrong in wrestling in and of itself without stabbing eachother in the eye with needles. And don't get me wrong, I loved the garbage matches of the late 90's, partly because I was young and partly because it was completely different to what I've seen at the time. The older me seems to lean more towards the "less is more" approach in wrestling, I guess, especially knowing the aftermath of all the unprotected chairshots to the head and whatnot.

Don't think it went too far with any specific thing, just think it was too much murder for one show. Makes them mean less, as you mentioned. I think Swerve and Hangman can get away with doing a straight wrestling match next time. No need to up the violence after this one. Swerve will say it didnt count and you didn't pin me. That he had to knock him out with a weapon to win. Swerve can say Hangman can't beat Swerve in a straight up wrestling match and no one will be disappointed in it.
