Did Ai steal my Photography style???
For months now Ai has been on the minds and tongues of every photographer on the planet.
We have been told that it steals and samples images from all over the web giving no credit to the original creators but up until now we have not been able to prove it.
In this Video I show you some of my photography from Mad Max Fury Road and compare the work I created to that of a very basic prompt from an Ai generator.
Does it look like my style to you?

Jase, you're clearly and unmistakably correct, wowow... I like to embrace technology, as I do a lot of post composite work as well as stills, but with ai generated imagery the jury is still out. All the buzz is, "embrace it, it aint goin' anywhere"!!! Recently on the Film Stills Fast Track Alumni, there was a post about a guy on instagram who uses AI to create futuristic BTS shots on imaginary film sets! My graphic art brain says "amazing", but my stills photo brain says, "errrrrrr"... I look forward to the follow up vid Jase, cheers!

Yes you're right. It also means you're good, otherwise they didn't need to copy your style. Greetings from the Netherlands 😁

Definitely a style steal JB!! AI images end up looking like those overdone posters with plastic-looking skin tones that some films put out. I reckon its going to make people crave authenticity.

Brutal! I can't stand what AI is starting to do to our business. I was on set the other day and the director asked if I'd help edit some AI images. My brain almost exploded.

Honestly it really doesn’t bother me, I’m flattered that ai doesn’t have anything without the help of a human.

You can still see thats an AI image it doesnt have your grittiness , the smear soft look , but you can also see where the palette and image comes from . thats for sure. The question is if it was used commercially . ? how it would be used etc or someone wanted it just for a wall pic , i personally would prefer a Boland original :)

Woah. That is freaky. It’s a complete steal. That is wild and a sign of what is to come. There are also images that I’ve seen (such as the posters and other images) that don’t have your desaturation and post-processing on them and are much richer in colour. Are they yours too or are they taken from the actual digital film files? I wonder if the AI would look at those too. Either way, I was really shocked how much the AI took from your style.

No the posters are made from the creative marketing team so no input from me but still all my images.

After watching the video I’d say the question if AI stole your editing style, really is just a rhetorical question. My mind is truly blown.

Interesting. What I normally think and say about AI is "AI is one of mankind's greatest inventions. ... and, it also why we're all gonna die." :) We'll see...

Hi! Creators needs new copyright law. Update the law with the technology that arise. It is necessary to protect our job, our work.

I agree with you. Your work was used to "train" the AI program. The question that is unclear, is it theft of intellectual property, or, is it imitation?

It just didn’t have enough to sample to make it it’s own but it was enough that it should have given me a credit haha😂

As a photographer, it's like the rug has been pulled out from under me as this is the worst redundancy letter to ever receive. Is it the reality now, that photos literally have the same value as a few sentences typed into an AI generator? Am I no longer needed? It's a tough pill to swallow. The first bit of the video, you sound like your are trying to prove that AI is using images to make new ones and that the sky is falling. Yes it is falling, but it has never been a mystery as to how AI generates it's images. The software owners of AI have explained from the beginning that they have scraped the web of eight billion images (another legal question) in order to generate these images. The proverbial shit hit the fan in 2022, with other artists and photographers, when it was learned that people could enter "in the style of Vincent van Gogh" into the prompts and have a derivative result of van Gogh. What's different today in your post, is that you have proven that it is not derivative or transformative at all, but instead a direct copy, a clone. This is very troubling and it effects you and I, and copyright, as it can be easily proven that it has a negative impact on our livelihoods. What a rabbit hole. And what are the studios and actors going to do to control it?

It sure is I was completely mind blown when I was sent this image. I looked at it and in my eyes undeniably and unmistakably my edit.
