Quite like NX Studio, but it's pretty bad at recovering highlights. Of course, blown is blown, but NX Studio seems to decide to clip things earlier than Lightroom. It's strange and disappointing.

So you shoot RAW and still make all sort of changes that apply only to JPG. Very professional.

This is some collection Jasin! Unbelievable. That shot at 04:25 is my favourite. Stared at it for some time and couldn't tell if it was moving! What one focal length would you choose if you could only gave one?

Great video! I use NX Studio in a very similar way as you. It is also great for basic color correction and color grading. For me it is enough, I don’t need to buy an expensive editing software.

Best photography vid I've seen in a long time 👏🏻 Incredible images, moments, and advice. What a dream career you've had (which of course does not imply it's been "easy" on any level). Amazing, will be watching this many times over! 😎📷 Also how did you set up and nail the exposure for this low light action shot?? 🤯 6:26

Thats a story unto its own. I shoot everything manual exposure and pray the light doesnt change too much.

A couple of things to consider for importing. Using the "Preferences" tab I rename all my files as YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS (with suffixes for multiple per second). That way I can always find a photo by date and order them chronologically. I also tag my photos with either names or events, also for easier searching.

Thanks Jasin! I'm contemplating ditching LrC to use NX Studio, and this has made my decision much easier. I've recently moved to Z and wonder why I held on to using my fleet of bulky/heavy Nikon dSLR for so long! Nikon Z are amazing :)

Hi AndrooH, I also want to buy Nikon Z6iii and start using NX Studio. I am going to be using Macbook Pro and once I click import from NX Studio, do I need to choose or make a new folder as a Primary Destination?

Thanks for the video mate. Some great points in your video. Just got a Z6II yesterday with a view of replacing my D5. I have shot 2 shows since then and it has performed well. A bit to learn moving over to mirrorless but it's a joy to use. Having the ability to put an AF point anywhere in frame is great. Cheers!

Wondering how you might advise me as a 15 year career in wedding photography and sports supplements campaign shooter could potentially find a start in still set photography? I’ve shot stills on sets before but only TV. Including MAFs season 3 and on some product lifestyle commercials, but now more than ever super keen to begin a new venture!! This was such a great talk! Super inspiring! Cheers!
@JasinBoland3 ай бұрын
Oh man it's a hard slog out there at the moment but shooting weddings I feel is very similar to what we do. You will make more money in weddings so if you are nailing that best career advice I would give is to be a master of one.

Hi Jasin.........I don't understand the Nikon philosophy on sales and how the Z-9 is the Pro camera for Nikon ,I've been a Nikon shooter since 1967 with the Nikon F. What I also don't understand why a flagship of the Nikon Z-9 update v5.00 did not have the pixel shift added to the updates,when the Z-8 and ZF camera's has it,we pay good money for our NikonZ-9's as our tools to complete our task and our professions . Nikon ........WHY ?????????????? please don't let us down on this flagship.............I am not the only one to discuss this issue and there are thousands of Nikon Z-9 shooters that are LOYAL to this company,please contact all the Nikon Ambassador's in all Regions of the world and have them fix this issue.............Thank you........
@JasinBoland3 ай бұрын
I can't speak for Nikon but I would class 9 and 8 as both flagship and it's up to us to choose the camera that best fits our shooting.

Love the video, very intuitive and will certainly help me with my Z5. I have a burning question that you may be able to answer. Is there a way to make / adjust your own focusing box on the Z5? I have seen this done before, however, the video was very poor in the instructions on how exactly this is done, and he may have been using a Z6 or better. Essentially he was able to make his own focusing size "box" there were indicators that allowed him to make it longer or wider. Thanks again.

Just discovered NX Tether and together with NX Studio brilliant. Also in NX Studio there is an option to send it to another program on your computer. So it is like a hub to cull, edit and send your photos
@JasinBoland8 ай бұрын
you can then open them in the editing program of your choice.
@johnstewart54899 ай бұрын
With your Z9s high fps rate, you must get thousands of images each day that need culling. What software do you use for this for unit stills, NX Studio? Do you do this daily, or every few days? Love your work big J, cheers!

daily and sometimes during the shoot day if I am up to date. I usually run a day behind.
