@iponce2 last 2 or 3 nights for me whenever I pop thundercrash and hit a boss I slide right off the guy. Like the hit detection is working but it's not exploding till I hit the ground below him. Showed some buddies to confirm. Was running some season of the witch stuff.

I feel like everything in a game like this should be viable and useful just to help new players who just began and have something they can use and not feel like garbage having someone carry them to get those op weapons to do at least something to the boss. @@CLbites being in a well overwrites the solar verb Radiant buff. Golden Gun stacks with radiant, but ONLY with radiant from solar verbs, not with wells "radiance"- which means you'll loose 25% damage output, rather than getting 25% when standing in a well with that super.

Builds that let you spam supers are way too strong imo, they immediately led to the nerfing downfall of supers because they're meant to be your scarcest abilities Maybe after final shape when not as many people care anymore, but anything that lets you spam massive aoe or defensive supers have WAY too much of a power gap than regular abilities, artifacts, and aspects

When using Burning Maul and/or Pyrogale, it's very important to be next to the boss because there are multiple impact values. Against the scorn boss in the Coil, I can one-shot it but only when I'm right next to it. Here's why: When I shart the slamming animation, the hammer deals ~260k as it *impacts the boss*, another 260k comes from the impact with the ground, and the remaining damage comes from the cyclones, scorch, ignitions, and the 3 explosive damaging trails after the impact with the ground.

Those super damage numbers are a little misleading since that's total damage rather than DPS. What makes Goldie so good is the ability to pre-pop the super and instantly shoot when the boss is vulnerable, and then jump into DPS with your normal weapons. The other supers that do lots of damage (notably chaos reach) take significantly longer to use, and this give you less time doing damage with your weapons

@@justingovas415 Not likely his testing seems pretty off that or the boss he was using takes less but every other boss even without radiant it deals about the same as falling star tcrash with radiant it does more (This is before I take into account any of the artifacts which granted I don't think change much aside from the 15% weaken) For example with radiant I hit about 600K against all 3 of the Warlord ruin bosses. Alongside this the passive 1.5% per a precision kill makes it easy to get the super back before a dps phase unlike other supers where some bosses the super will be ready mid damage phase or after the 2nd one

Tcrash has always been like that dude. It's just before every super was dealing a base of 200K which was the same as Tcrash but every super got buffed to about 300K except for Tcrash. Tcrash feels weak because everything around it got buffed (Including enemies which makes the fact it puts you into stomp range more dangerous) while it was left behind.

@@DB_________ Tcrash with cuirass is not the strongest and yet it comes with a massive downside. In endgame you get stomped which will either kill or put you in red and you have to run back to the dps spot in general costing 1-3 shots depending on the weapon so you end up a lot of the time with barely any extra damage unless it's a point blank boss like Crota. If Tcrash is lower than a bunch of supers than Nighthawk shouldn't be higher than it.

@@user-qf7kf6hy9w And? You end up in range of boss stomp which in endgame is a one hit kill and the overshield only makes some bosses leave you in the red meaning if the boss shoots you you're dead. Alongside that unless the boss is a melee range boss like crota you end up having to run back losing a few shots worth of damage meaning with a rocket which will deal about 100-150K you could lose out on damage similar to Tcrash since some bosses are far enough you miss 2-3. Also there's bosses you can't use it on. Oryx while you can damage him you'll be forced to run back to dps which can take about 8 seconds so you might lose more damage than gain Caretaker he has to be directly on the plate or you can't use it Sanctified mind is both far and he's standing in a damage spot so you take damage as you head back. The kings fall ogre boss as only attacks that hit the chest count and tcrash can't Warpriest possible but only if you have your team go onto sword range. Nighthawk on the other hand works on everything and any decent player will always hit the critical its only newer players and those with teammates who run in front of them mid shot who will miss. The only boss you could sorta say it doesn't work on is Atraks but even then it does you just gotta be quick about it.

@@masonwillms2542 If you're going to use an exotic that has the sole purpose of buffing a super's damage (i.e. the titan gauntlets that make the axe a one-off, Cuirass, etc.), that modified super should be doing a lot of damage as a result. Star Eater Scales is a solid example of this, Cuirass is another one, and so on. When you consider how "sub subclass"-defining Celestial Nighthawk was when it first released in D1 combined with the tradeoffs you make to use it (less ad clear because less shots, requires extreme accuracy and timing, etc.), Celestial *should* be single-handedly *the thing* with the highest single shot damage in the entire game. I don't know if you ever tried it but when you have a super like Thundercrash with Cuirass having better ease of use (only major issue is wonky collision with hitboxes) with higher damage and more benefits (overshield after Thundercrash impacts something) than Celestial, why would anyone use Celestial?

The whole idea with Hunter is to be a glass cannon.. as a Titan/Warlock main, why not just let Hunters have this one? I enjoyed using it alot. Titans should be tanky but they nerfed that hard this season. Warlocks have suffered hard this season and is no fun to play atm to be honest cus they nerf anything thats remotely fun -_-

The numbers for the super damage are way off. Just went and tested some of them on phry'zhia. SES BB was 497,759. SES GS was 464,696. Nighthawk was 466,977. Needlestorm w/ swarmers was 406,127. This was all done with no artifact buffs and no debuffs. The only buff that was used was radiant and only on blade barrage and golden gun to prock knock em' down. Even if Aztecross's dps was done on a different boss the damage numbers are drastically skewd.

Before i even watch the video, im just gonna reply to the title. No. Did they fix the kinetic surges? Yes. Does it still do 25% more damage by default cuz if the buff it got? Yup. It’s plenty damage. The surges was too much. And with me saying that, u would think i play titan or warlock complaining about a different class having something that i dont. Nope. Im a hunter one trick. And i really like nighthawk too. But dealing that 999999 so consistently just felt wrong cuz of how fast it is. And u can still hit 999k now but it requires more setup and debuffs and whatnot from teammates. As I personally think it should be.

We really don't need one. Needlestorm does 406k all by itself (ignore this video for Needlestorm, Cross missed half the needles in his test), which is very competitive with other supers that require an exotic to hit good numbers

My friend who plays as a hunter in Destiny 2 reinstalled the game because of the satisfying feeling of seeing the number 999,999 on his golden gun. However, when it was silently nerfed, he uninstalled the game again, stating that he didn't miss the ups and downs of the game. Personally, I agree with him. Seeing that satisfying number was quite enjoyable, and when it got nerfed it sucked.

Why is Chaos Reach in this conversation? It's a channeled super that does damage over a span of time. All the other supers being mentioned are instantaneous damage. Honestly, Chaos Reach with Geomags SHOULD have the highest total damage output of any damage-dealing super because of how it works.

It's time thunder crash gets it's buff. I love that goldie is strong but it can be done safely from cover or in a well (kinda sort of, at least next to a well) while tcrash in end game content is 50/50 a kamikaze super. Where you use it, land on top of the boss who may or may not stomp you into oblivion, and if you survive then you gotta make it back to the well which is extra downtime. It is so bad that on rhulk it is not even worth using because the time spent using the super causes DPS to drop off when using the most optimal weapons. Tcrash was the meta for literally one season when cuirass came out. Then the following season hunters got star eater scales and did way more damage than cuirass tcrash. Oh also cuirass doesn't do anything else special it's literally just a damage buff to the super, it does technically give a small over shield but not enough to matter. But Bungie is scared of titans so it will never get the buff it deserves.

i think what they should do to buff t/crash is to make the fallenstar exotics damage the baseline damage for thundercrash, and then rework the exotic. "upon hitting the target with thundercrash, you will gain 3 seconds where you can press the super button and get teleported back to the place you set off the super" that way we can finally get rid off the whole being in a terrible position after using the super, but at the same time make the super feel impactful even without the exotic.

I think another thing they could do is buff the baseline damage, then for the exotic it does a damage buff of like 50% but also do something similar to what nighthawk got but have it be where arc weapon kills give increased super recharge. Or even ballistic slam kills give a large portion of super energy.

Ill never forget the first time i hit 999,999. It was during forsaken when the shattered throne came out. I was running empowering rift with well and lunafaction boots. I was also running sleeper sim. popped well and the empowering rift and hit the sweet 999,999. i started to freak out and my boys were too. miss those days

Before Litefall, Ashes to Assets gave a ton of super energy when used with Gunpowder Gamble, it doesn't anymore. And Energy Converter existed, so you could set up your armor mods to get that super as often as possible. Those were the best times to run Nighthawk for sure. I main Nighthawk since before Witch Queen and this season was worse for the Nighthawk than the base state before Litefall, despite the juicy boss damage numbers.

I love how bungie will quickly nerf something that is causing more damage than intended, but if a weapon/super is causing less damage than intended it takes them forever to fix! I remember the last time I stopped playing primary weapons were taking a whole mag just to kill a red bar…. It took them more then a season to patch.

Imo Golden Gun should be the highest damage burst super in the game simply because you need to land a precision hit for the full damage which makes it much harder to use than all of the other supers. If you land a body shot or miss entirely your damage goes right out the window. The fact it got the final bit of extra damage it needed to be at the top from surges made it even better, adding some extra required set-up to make the pay-off feel all the more worth while and adding a cool synergy with your armor mods. It also really didn't have any sort of negative impact on the game with that +17%. Ofc it's still good but considering the fact you had to spend your exotic armor slot on CN, put 2 kinetic surges on your pants and land a precision hit while those were active I feel the pre-nerf damage was 100% justified.

I mean there is Briarbinds but.. Easiest thing for Nova would be the Cuirass treatment: armour that just doubles/triples damage For other Warlock supers to get one and done types would be if Well would be similar to Gathering Storm or would be a huge slam down attack (but I'm not sure if Destiny's code would allow animation to go through walls/ceilings) I think Arc could be turned into a giant soul buddy that shoots the mega beam, if not it could be a big airstrike or pillar type of summoning attack (again not sure how that'd interact with walls/ceilings or even the distance to place it since this isn't a game that has those mechanics) Strand is fine Stasis..maybe charge the staff to throw a giant stasis ball that can repetitively freeze and shatter for a certain amount of time..? Idk for that one honestly.. kinda like a stasis nova bomb..? The issue with trying to make new Warlock supers is trying to not make them encroach on each other in any way And while they seem to be okay with doing across classes (nova/bb/crash) that was made a LONG time ago and there needs to be ample enough reason for new animation and change (something this dead horse of a company isn't so willing to give us anymore) But hey, at least it isn't titans who have the same roaming super for different effects (the strand one is good for damage, the solar one is now a one-and-done, the stasis one is good for large-ish/narrow areas, the arc one doesn't roam anymore, void is void)

Who tf is saying that the one and done, single precision shot super that needs to be carefully aimed shouldn't be doing that much damage in one shot? What else would be the upside lol? That's literally the whole point of Celestial Nighthawk and the whole appeal of GG in pve like wtf? If I need to clear yellow bar ads, I'll use blade barrage or a special, not a roaming that needs more aim than any other super in the game and despite the fact that it isn't even guaranteed to oneshot majors on higher difficulties, has the lowest duration/ammo of any roaming super. People use GG in pve because of Celestial Nighthawk. Otherwise it's a just a pvp super.

Back to the vault for Nighthawk Goldy forever. With the surges it only barely beat out max stacks of SES blade barrage, and was only considered better because of the ability to ready it as damage starts. Now there is no reason to use it when Star Eaters exist and do more damage

As a warlock main who has played more on my hunter this season than I ever have, I am saddened that they changed this. It would be cool if they would just let things be fun. Big numbers are fun. I know they trivialize things, but that’s ok. We’re in the longest season ever, they should be throwing all kinds of “unintended” things like this at us and just see what sticks. Use it to gather data. The times when they give us cool stuff to gather data have been some of the most fun times we’ve ever had in the game. Golden gun absolutely should get a buff next season. So should most of the other supers. Let us have fun. Let the game go out with the bang of buffs, not the whimper of nerfs.

Its a really weird logic. Blade barrage doing more damage for literaly no effort, vaguely aiming if at all. Golden gun with celestial having the very real and high risk or missing that bullet especially on constantly moving/teleporting around enemies. We should be rewarded for good timed AND landed hit by damn big number. High risk, high reward. If not wanting to put a high risk, go with mediocre.

I agree that after this season golden gun should just hit this hard with celestial nighthawk intrinsically. The risk/reward needs to be worth it. You've got one shot to hit a crit, you need to make sure you pop at a good time so you dont get flinched to death, account for mobile bosses/awkward crit zones with good aim, and your entire exotic armor slot is being invested into a super. Miss and it was for nothing. This should hit like a truck. At least it will always be a nice champion deleter in GMs

@@justingovas415 Highest number does not always mean something is the best. Regular burning maul has really high total damage, but you don't see anybody using it right? DPS matters a lot with supers. Even without the mod, celestial still has the highest dps out of any super and it requires no setup. It can be used at any distance and is extremely consistent, unlike Blade barrage which is the most inconsistent super in the game. It will still have crazy fast regen and will still be one tapping champs on GM difficulty. It'll be perfectly fine after this season

I still remember running the strike on Mars with celestial nighthawk and Marksman golden gun where I got my super back within 2 minutes, and hit the Necrota strike boss at least three times during the boss phase! And back then I was already doing 1 million damage a super! They nerfed then buffed and re- nerfed it again... *Bungie* the ultimate fun police! SMH

As a PVE main who mains GG on Hunter class, GG + Celestial + season artifact damage boosts and kinetic surge combo is hella fun. This combo is meant for PVE-why spoil the fun, Bungie?

and i'll still be using nighthawk even after these nerfs, i just hope bungie buffs nighthawk with the enkindling artifact mod added onto the celestial nighthawk AFTER the season ends, and yes we have the "gain super on crit kills" but i feel like they could add, "on crit hits gain super energy and crit kills gain more super energy" just to hopefully make it more useful during boss fights, maybe add a bit more damage on top of that just because using celestial nighthawk IS a gamble, you ether hit your mark with one big o'l CHONK of damage, or you miss losing out on that damage. ether way nighthawk has always been my go to solar exotic and it deserves to be a damage monster, and should be out shined by some universal exotic that is so easy to use that it damaged everything else ever since it was released!! ...sorry i just really hated star eater scales being the go to exotic for everything damage wise for the longest time and honestly of all hunter exotics to get a nerf i would hope that star eater gets it, far to easy to get a lot of damage just by getting four extra orbs, maybe even just having it only work with arc would be enough for me, but bungie should just bring up nighthawks damage up to and even beyond star eater's, but that is all just me.
