Did Crowsworn copy Hollow Knight too much ?

i just see it as any soulslike copying dark souls or any fps copying doom, or any survival horror copying resident evil. there's nothing wrong with it. if anything, it should say more about how awesome hollow knight is for creating a genre and less about these other games "copying" it. they just acknowledged how good team cherry's game is

I don't see the similarities as a bad thing. As a Hollow Knight fan, i'm happy to have the opportunity to have a good quality game that brings that spirit while Silksong is in eternal development.

similarities are sometimes good because it takes the good parts of a game while innovating the bad/weak parts

I don't have any issue with the gameplay. Copying a good gameplay formula is what makes metroidvanias and souls likes a thing in the first place. What I don't like personally is that Crowsword LOOKS like hollow knight, even if that doesn't make a lot of sense with the theme of it. The theme is so different from the bug theme hollow knight has, yet they borrow so heavily from its asthetic. They choose the same style of chatic platforms that makes the game feel more nature like, even though that isn't what the theme seems to be going for at all. It feels like a hollow knight level that they slapped a plague doctor inside. The visual design definitely lacks originiality and fails to come up with a fitting asthetic for the theme from what we have seen so far. But maybe this is just the first level and the other zones are more unique.

I get what you're saying, crowsworn does wear his hollow knight inspiration on its sleeve and while the demo areas looks somewhat out of place or better said not very well incorporated but the footage from the trailers looks more polished so like you said at the end, we kinda need to wait to see the final product

It has a very clearly similar feel and atmosphere but the aesthetic of it and the thematic elements of the game clearly are doing their own thing. I would consider them something like Brothers rather than Twins.

Yup! It is clear that Crowsworn goes for a more dark theme than hollow knight, it has a bit more gore and it looks a bit more serious, hollow knight atmosphere somewhat tone down because of the let's say "pretty" artstyle

I think they wanted the suprise effect when the game comes out while still puting a simple and good demo. While both games are quite similar and they are bound to be compared im satisfied with the simalities in the game play i honestly cannot wait to play this game.

No not at all if anything I think it owes a lot of its atmosphere to from software surprisingly, the scenic views with a city in the background with its derelict almost gothic architecture, the enemy design and also the boss designs. I feel like people who call these types of games clones have a double standard where this game copied hollow knight but hollow knight didn't copy any other game.

I hope this is a joke. drawing inspiration from another metroidvania isn't copying, just pulling some old ideas from a game and building upon them. They added lots of their own ideas( guns, flask, 3 hit combo, ability slots, etc) and I think that makes the game different enough to not be a copy.

Hollow knight copied other games and doesn't do anything original so how can games copy hollow knight if it's already a copy itself? I think HK only gets the praise it does because so many kids bought a switch and hollow knight is there first experience of that type of game.

I hard disagree with this. Crowsworns environments look EXACTLY like hollow knight's. If you showed environments from one and the other to a person who has never seen any gameplay to discern, which is from which game, I don't believe they would come far at all. It would be much easier for Castlevania and Blasphemous. You also have to consider that Blasphemous and Castlevania looking similar at times makes sense, as they both mostly take place in man made structures. There is no reason why Crowsworns environments look natural and bug like, as they do in hollowknight, because the themes are so drastically different.
