To me, Deadpool & Wolverine is the best superhero comedy since the original Deadpool. Unlike in the tonal mess that is Deadpool 2, this movie feels fun and funny and exciting from start to finish. I even love the gags with Peter. Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds were great in the movie. They both brought their A game and I loved every second.... Other than Deadpool getting Johnny Storm killed. But this movie made me feel like a superhero fan boy all over again. Where Logan felt like a great ending to the superhero genre, this movie breathes new life into the genre.

Call me crazy but I had "Blues Brothers" vibes thtoughout the entire movie. Not only because of the two characters that remembered me a lot of Jake and Elwood, but meaning that it shows that sometimes you don't need the perfect plot or the perfect villain, but just a movie made with heart, to be entertained. And I was. And yes, it's probably the first Marvel movie since Infinity War that I would watch a second time in theater.
@coltencavegn55934 ай бұрын
I loved this movie, and I know this movie has flaws, but it is just so entertaining and fun it is hard to make a big deal about the flaws because it is just so fun. However, I actually thought the movie was too short. I felt like the movie was rushing through its plot, not leaving the audience enough time to understand Cassandra Nova's turn to use the time ripper and it also made the heartfelt moments too short, with them quickly being intercepted with a joke afterwards or a fight scene. For example, when Deadpool is talking about his world in one picture, Logan insults Wade in a tremendous Wade, but probably thirty seconds after that crazy roast, instead of letting the audience soak in on the emotion and heart of the moment, for the movie's pacing purpose, they go on into another fight scene. It is an incredible fight scene, but I felt like that as how every heartfelt moment went. It was there, and not even a minute later, it was gone, just not letting it stick the landing, and helping the movie feel like it was going way too fast. Don't get me wrong, I still love the movie, but I feel like thirty or even twenty extra minutes could have fleshed out more character moments and make the movie make more sense and not feel like it was rushing its frankly crammed story.

This movie was wildly entertaining. But imo, the issues with the MCU are threefold: 1. Characters. They’re just not going to get me as excited about Dr. Strange and the marvels as they will about Spiderman, Wolverine, iron man, etc. 2. Writing. While super entertaining, the Deadpool and Wolverine’s story relied almost entirely on contrivances and clunky exposition dumps and Deadpool breaking the fourth wall to acknowledge the flaw didn’t fix that. The writing of these movies has really suffered after infinity war. 3. Direction. After endgame, they should have stopped for a while, and had a much more well thought out overarching story, and direction for the universe. Kang wasn’t exciting to me at all. Thanos was massive (and imo they fumbled that too by having his defeat in endgame be a thanos from another universe rather than the one from theirs that snapped his fingers). Once the overarching villain was dialed in, the individual stories of your remaining big ticket characters should have been organized to gently contribute to the overarching villain, but provide solid stand alone movies. Characters such as spiderman (Sony rights notwithstanding) and Thor. My two cents, this was the first MCU movie I’ve seen in theatres after Shang chi and tbf even after Deadpool and Wolverine, I’m not anxious to go see another 😅

Cassandra Nova has always been quite evil. When she realized she wasn't quite stuck in the Void and could destroy the universe she took advantage of it. Check out the comics, she is quite bad. Great review! I definitely had ZERO expectations of this saving the MCU, but MJ here (cause I'm nasty) gave us a wonderful experience, and that was all I wanted, all I needed and everything I got. I had faith in Ryan Reynolds and crew to pull this one together. Anything else Marvel does... I'm gonna rely on this channel and others like it to review so I can have a better idea of what's going on and if anything else will be worth my time. Hopefully Marvel Jesus does begin the start up a new direction that brings passion, love and care back into the storytelling, letting that take hold. I think Ryan trusts his audience, and that's where so many MCU projects fail because they want to beat us over the head and tear down us as well as characters to meet their agenda as opposed to exploring a character's struggles and letting that speak for itself. So yeah, praise be to Deadpool and Wolverine and I hope this sets a strong precedent that the following MCU projects will adhere to. Nothing everything has to be funny and Deadpool, it just has to have passion and faith.

Marvel needs to stop requiring everything to connect to their universe. Eventually we need some Marvel equivalents to films like Joker and The Batman that are completely separate and self contained and are more with artistic integrity. Even Logan is technically an elseworlds story despite starring Hugh as it’s not canon to the original X-Men continuity and set in a universe where the X-Men were over exaggerated to the public.

Admitting mistakes in the film itself doesn't magically make it good. "Entertainment" saved the situation to some extent, but the last third of the film left me with deep disappointment about whole thing. Spoilers, just in case - not very important details. The moment with TVA really pissed me off - they refused to change the outcome of Wolverine's universe. I mean, let him just save X-Men and go away from this new branch of timeline (Deadpool can do that stuff, but Wolverine can't...). Paradox could have invited Deadpool to TVA before turning on his machine at the last moment. Let's just say that the start of the plot could have been much more logical. And yes, the goal of the mission about entering main timeline was simply forgotten (with the exception of one short scene on TVA screen which may not happen in the future films). Almost all the cameos didn't really do anything and won't have any kind of continuation in future. The only exception was X23 (her influence on Wolverine).
@paulf69734 ай бұрын
During the bus fight, I remember in the cinema wishing they could it out completely, and replace it with any sort of character development. Give the Logan / X23 reunion more weight, or spend more time with the original Deadpool characters. A fun, flawed, bloated mess, but fun as I said

I like to think of it as a metaphor for Disney trying to introduce the Deadpool we're familiar with into the MCU while abandoning the Fox era of Marvel movies he originates from. There's no point in bringing him (or Hugh Jackman's Wolverine by extension) into the new Marvel universe if the importance of their character origins isn't respected or at the very least seriously acknowledged, which is why previous MCU cameos such as Patrick Stewart's Professor X in Multiverse of Madness utterly failed.

The movie wasn't great, and didn't really contribute anything major to the MCU, however it was so Nostalgic and Fun that it's easy to dismiss all its flaws. So nah, it didn't save the MCU. What made the MCU great was that up until after Endgame, you felt you needed to watch every movie (that's why Captain Marvel did $1 billion) to enjoy the payoff in the next one. That's mostly been lost. It's really dependent on what happens in Captain America and Fantastic 4, and whether or not they show some kind of common direction leading into the Avengers films.
