Agreed. The thing is I actually enjoyed the first Trolls (I know it isn't Dreamworks best animated film but it was still pretty fun imo). But I feel there is no need for any sequels, as I feel their attempt to expand the world of Trolls fails badly. For example, shoving in a bunch of cliché plot twists like having a long lost sibling or having world-building that was never referenced in the first project. Dreamworks should actually focus on movies that should have sequels like CU.

As someone who extensively followed the production of the first captain underpants movie from time of announcement to eventual release, I think people forgot about the production hell that movie initially went through. I remember Dreamworks announcing the movie was in the works around 2011 (I vividly remember printing out the article about it and pinning it to my bedroom wall I was so excited), and it took 6 years before we eventually saw the final product. So I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same for Dog Man in that it’s quietly being worked on and it’ll take another 6 year cycle before we hear anything else. I expect 2025 an official release date will be confirmed, 2026 release date

Sadly, due to the Captain Underpants movie likely only making around or a little over 20 million in profit (by measuring its full cost via calculating the movie budget x 2.5). I don't think Dreamworks is that interested in moving forward with another film (unless renewed interest happens). Since the books are a franchise juggernaut, I think the studio was hoping the same for the film, but that didn't happen. I saw it in theaters, and I'm unsure if there were even ten people in total in my cinema.

I have a feeling the Dog Man movie might just also be the sequel for Captain Underpants. I mean, they take place in the exact same Universe with the same motives and humor and... EVERYTHING.
