I think most people who already want an analogue pocket already have one or already ordered one. The high price tag is already a turn off for some people. There's also so many times you can say you are selling something limited and trying to use FOMO before people get sick of it.

While I completely agree with you, I think Wulff Den made a video about 2 weeks ago doing something like this, swapped the Pocket into a metal shell. It was slightly more complex than your average Joe can do and Analogue doesn't provide any instructions for taking the thing apart. So I guess they don't want to deal with all the issues that will come with it suck as people breaking their device trying to take it apart. Funny thing is, the price of that off brand shell was also something like the price of pocket itself, which may be why Analogue thought it was okay to rob people with this insane price tag. Dumb, all in all...

The entire time I’ve had this group up, the offical analogue page has never joined, but they did recently join over the weekend and I’m fairly certain they joined to gauge people’s reactions to this new pocket. I don’t have any proof, but it’s just my opinion.

The one thing that scare me out of buying the ORIGINAL was the price, I would love to own one but it's simply too much money. Instead of releasing a budget version (electronically does the same but a more simple exterior they went the other way. The Analogue pocket is simply not the best or more convenient way to play your old games anymore. The FPGBC by Funnyplaying is; it weighs a fraction of what the analogue pocket weighs, it costs less than half, you can customise the design and the fact that you assemble it yourself makes it so much more special and personal.

I do enjoy those as well, though the target groups are a bit different. Of all the handheld systems, the GBC is the most memorable and nostalgic for me, so an FPGA GB/GBC using that exact form was an easy purchase for me, I just wish they had their FPGBC shell in Cyan since that was my childhood GBC. It'd not a perfect GB/GBC core and it does annoy me knowing that the CPU can only be slower or faster than stock, but not exact. However, I don't really play with others or play two at once (other than Pokemon trading, which works fine), so it's not a big deal. The best part of the whole thing is the price is actually pretty fair for a DIY project. They just need to get a GBA version out now, hopefully in the horizontal form or at least offer a couple board options for the different models.

ModRetro Chromatic is hype. I will be able to play anywhere not just inside like my analouge pocket. The analouge pocket should have advertised as the least portable gameboy that needs to be played completely indoors with no lights on. I NEVER use my analouge pocket. I like Analogue's products, but I hate their business model. Releasing small batches of products to create fomo, rather than just keeping their products in stock. Then for some things they never support it at all. Still not a single firmware update for the DAC. Not one.

Not really looking forward to anything by Analogue at the moment. $499.99 is a pretty insane price. There is another company selling an Aluminum shell for $190.00, pure after market. The n64 clone, well there are few games i play for that. If they did a Playstation clone, i mean it is pretty east to get a PSX and retrotink or HDMI mod for cheaper than they will sell a console for (and the Duo does scratch my disc's, so do not really trust them there). So what can be next. I think their next home run would be a multi cartridge slot, with top loading CD, that has the openfpga on it and can play multiple systems (maybe a built in scaler and memcardpro compatible sdcard slot). However if the Mars or Replay2 comes out with that first.......
