Kartboarder22G these types of crossovers aren’t meant for off roading except maybe the passport a little bit. The rear wheel drive based explorer will be easier to work on compared to the outgoing at least comparing the ones with the eco boost v6.

I agree with Phil Swift. These segments don't prioritize off-road capability because they don't need to. You'll find them outside Nordstrom Rack and on their way to soccer practice (rolling onto the soccer field after the game to serve Billy and his friends juice boxes does not count). Also, speaking as a Chevrolet dealership employee, no one is buying Traverses in the High Country trim. That being said, I still find an RWD platform more attractive on an SUV of this size.

Don Warner for sure, no longer for the lower or even middle class, this is the reason I had to up my car insurance almost to the max, I watched a video where A guy ended up paying 340k because an accident was deemed his fault and since his insurance didn't cover it he said it took him over 20 years of wage garnishment to pay it off... a lawyer he couldn't afford. think about it, an f150 can cost 50-100k that's just one vehicle, what if multiple cars are involved or people/passengers are hurt, medical is crazy expensive and people cheat the system and lie and say they are more hurt or now disabled, oh I lost my job because of(fake neck/spinal injury that's hard to prove) because they want $$ then you end up paying for some asshole for the rest of your life. Scary world we live in. If you can find it there is a guy who gets hit really hard on here, he woke up in the hospital 3 days later with a cop sayin, "you know it's your fault" he didn't remember what happened, he looked at his cheap dashcam, thank god he had a dashcam, the lady blew a stop through a side road she was hauling ass and hit him so hard, looked like fairly remote roads,he didn't see it coming it was so fast again thank god you could clearly see the stop sign and her going about 60-70mph through it, she already had a lawyer and she repositioned her vehicle, lied about it all the lawyer dropped her case as he tells the story, and she went to jail thank god. Doesn't always work out that way.(he shows the actually accident on video, I was surprised he lived)

@@Agent77X If you're being sarcastic: The only time FWD is better than RWD is when a car first starts going up a steep hill or driveway, and that can be easily mitigated with better tires or snow tires. FWD is worse for braking, launch, acceleration, turning, loss of control, and sudden maneuvers. You ought to look it up for yourself.
@kartboarder22g17
@kartboarder22g17 5 жыл бұрын
@@coffeehawk If your driving down a highway and your rear end looses traction you enter a situation where you need to correct. With FWD if that happens where you loose traction up front you continue moving in the straight line direction. I know Stability control makes up for any issue with this, but just saying FWD has its place. I don't think he is being sarcastic.

Housewives around the U.S. are probably already telling their budget-stretched husbands that they need this, and those suckers will go right out and abuse their credit rating to the max to do so. Give it 3 or 4 years and you'll be able to pick these things up after the lease is up in the 20s, $30k tops. New Suburbans are in a similar boat, I've seen fully-loaded ones on the lot at $99k and some change but they lose value faster than you can pay the things off. The next time the economy tanks or even slows down there's going to be a lot of people in a lot of trouble for over-extending themselves to buy these ridiculous, over-priced piles.

Wow, is the internet still over-exaggerating the water pump myth? That whole thing stemmed from one video about the 3.5/3.7L Duratec engines with a "lifetime" water pump that usually lasts over 200k miles. By that time you're due for a timing chain replacement anyway so you might as well swap the water pump while you're in there. And the EcoBoost engines don't even use that type of water pump, it's externally mounted and anyone with 2 seconds to Google this can see for themselves.

This one has an EXTERNAL water pump....I have ZERO doubt why the whole redesign - going from FWD to RWD....so they could put BACK in a longitudinal engine (more room for external pump. P.S. The 2.7/3.7 F150 versions had external pumps.)

@@BenKempa Never talking to each other is the most likely reason for the flip flop in trim levels. Still one would think that some one at Ford would realize that a Platinum on a F series is a lower trim level than the Limited and the Platinum on SUV is a higher trim level on then the Limited. One wonders why a potential customer whom may be confused with all of it has to point this out. I'm personally considering both platforms and trim levels.

Did I hear that right? 5.5 seconds 0-60? That is pretty disappointing for 400 HP and a 10 Speed automatic. I was really expecting low 5s. The previous generation Explorer Sport was a few hundred pounds heavier, down 35 HP/65 ft-lbs of power, and saddled to a 6 speed automatic. It still ran ~6.0 0-60 per Car and Driver. Other car mags did even better. Given that the old Explorer Sport had a starting MSRP of ~$47k vs $55k for the 2020 Explorer ST, the new Explorer ST is starting to look more Edge ST than Focus ST (aka lackluster vs worthy of the ST badge). Guess we will have to wait for the performance mags to strap on the test equipment and hope it does better for a true comparison.
