I work on a city fleet of primarily ford explorers, interceptors, and F series pickups. They are garbage. Constant recalls, constant failing parts ( water pumps, control arms, transfer cases, leaking seals, etc) not to mention if you plan on working on it yourself the engineering of how fords are put together makes them such a pain to work on. We just call it “job security” because somethings always needing repaired. They had it right with the crown Vic.. nothing since. If you buy a ford get an extended warranty.

Congrats on owning fords I guess to each his own! I don’t care if you trust me or not I don’t know you. All I’m saying is this guy said Ford is killing it.. you said they are reliable and Im saying that I work on basically nothing but new fords and they are junk. The older fords ,like I mentioned the crown Victoria are pretty solid, the new fords coming out are not. It’s your own hard earned money so you can purchase any vehicle you damn well please, I just recommend the extended warranty if you choose a ford because you will need it. We have ford fleet care on some of our vehicles that actually runs to 100,000 miles and we’ve been able to ship them off to ford dealerships for extensive repairs (internally driven water pumps that leak and failed transfer cases) that would otherwise cost a normal owner a ridiculous amount of money. If your looking for reliability you should be looking at Toyota as they are the top automaker in reliability every year proven. New fords have already proven unreliable each and every year we get new models. We’re are actually currently looking into trying to standardize our fleet to Chevy, primarily the Tahoe’s when it comes to PPVs because the explorers are absolute garbage and we have experience much less issues with Chevy.

I appreciate that you guys do towing tests with a wider range of vehicles other than just 1/2 ton trucks and up. Most reviews just state the manufacturers towing specs and leave it at that, which I understand because they probably don't want to pay to install a hitch and brake light wiring/brake controllers just to review a test vehicle. I do a lot of highway driving so I care about range/economy, but I also want to be able to pull a small 5x8 utility trailer when needed so it's good to know how smaller vehicles handle doing some work with a roughly 1500-2000 lbs. load behind them.

@@Treyk901 People that use trucks for towing are more than likely not living in some fancy urban city with butterflies and graffiti everywhere. They more than like live rural so gas is their only real option. People have become obsessed with electrical vehicles without even asking basic questions.
@Treyk9015 жыл бұрын
bighand69 I live in the country but work in the city. Most of the heavy towing starts off in the cities and end up in the cities. If they can make the range decent enough to travel city to city it would be a no brainer to want electric. The rave about electric is that it’s cheap to recharge, less maintenance, instant torque. Personally I’d prefer a hybrid system that uses a small diesel as a generator to power electric motors, like a locomotive. You will get the range like any other truck plus the benefits of electric motors to propel the vehicle and stop the vehicle. Electric has awesome engine braking.
@bighands695 жыл бұрын
@@Treyk901 Electric cars are only cheap to charge because the national energy systems are government sponsored via taxation. If everybody moved to electrical they would remove all the subsidies and you would notice the unit cost shooting up. Now putting that aside electric cars are just a fashion statement at present. They are not utilitarian and they nor do they do anything practical in terms of the environment. Clearly we can see their long term engineering future but right now they simply are not what most people think they are. See with a gas car you would never need to consider range, charging times or have to plan out the management of the vehicle to the same degree. They are really like mobile phones of the 1970s.

If I were day dreaming, a third row delete would be rad, to get more interior cargo. Disclaimer: I'm not a parent and don't need the extra seats. I'd be more about the all weather, go anywhere side and the towing/hauling.

They had to change the chassis because that’s The same chassis that they’re going to use for the bronco.
@markleckband44955 жыл бұрын
Albert Valdes not true. The new bronco will be based on a BOF chassis pulled from the Ranger (next gen, I think)

This has got to be the fasted recall in history. Even these 2020 Ford Explorers are part of the massive 1.23 million Ford recall.

Old man battleship gray hard plastic interior with a few modern gizmos tacked on. No thanks. Note to Ford: quite reviving these old cars and let them stay dead. BTW, will the Reverse Brake Assist recognize one of those yellow pylons like the ones surrounding that electrical box in the video? Those are the true fender benders and bumper destroyers most people face.

RWD explorer what is old is new again... 35kw battery and 35kw motor? doesn't make sense.. The battery is measured in kWH. Is the battery 35kWH? that would make it pretty large for a battery. Is this ford guy an engineer?

Joeys Cleaning Lady exactly what I thought when he was talking ha ha
@joeyscleaninglady28775 жыл бұрын
@@stdlyman3k On Mr. Trucks channel the lady says it is a 1.5kWh battery I assume that 35kw number is max discharge rate of the pack which would put it over 20c discharge lol
@stdlyman3k5 жыл бұрын
Joeys Cleaning Lady holly crap. If that’s right talk about degradation. Sure hope they have an amazing thermal Managment. I was going to be very surprised if it really was that big of a battery!
@joeyscleaninglady28775 жыл бұрын
@@stdlyman3k this whole setup is not very impressive a 35kWh battery would have been impressive! Not sure why they are quoting max discharge rate from the battery. That just seems like a weird spec to keep quoting rather than capacity.
@stdlyman3k5 жыл бұрын
Joeys Cleaning Lady that’s why. Because the battery capacity is not very impressive and the output isn’t anything crazy. Most people will just say oh cool that sounds like a lot

The power put out by the hybrid is just a little more horsepower and just a little more torque than the base 2.3 engine? Shouldn't this hybrid with a 6 cylinder be a little more powerful?
@jackdaniels26575 жыл бұрын
It uses horsepower to charge the elecrric motor. If he removed the electric motor he would gain more horsepower and torque

Here the thing this is why I bought the Extra warranty! Actually grew up loving gmc 283 3 on a tree became a ford lover with 7.3 power stroke and went on the pipeline and saw ford out do them all Dodge and Chevy. Dodge beautiful truck had good luck with them.... So what I'm saying I buy what I want No matter what symbol is on it as long as I like it. For a mid size Sedan I'm saying I can get more use the spend the money on a good truck and then a SUV like to explore!!!
@R777-RLM5 жыл бұрын
Ford left out the rear side marker lights, getting by on what you see of the taillights. Most people wouldn't notice it, but I avoided a car accident on a dark obscured road because I could see the side marker lights of a truck through the trees, cheap. They should also add Dual Injection to these engines if they aren't going to offer the 3.3L V6 to the public, which Ford advertises as Direct Injected, but is actually Dual Injected. They don't want us to know about the carbon build up problems with DI, touting it as superior to Multi-Port in all ways. Get a Toyota Highlander if you want reliability.
