I can understand the owner missing this for a couple of weeks- it takes awhile for a serious infection to develop, and the dog may not even have been limping if it isn't actually putting any weight on the end of the toe.

The Defendants are an hour and a half away and didn't bother bringing the actual groomer? Then, the Plaintiff didn't notice the dog had an issue for 2 weeks? Both sides seem a bit sketchy. Why didn't the Plaintiff bring the initial vet report? Something seems off, Part 2 should be good.

Now I understand why my groomer was so anxious when my dog’s nail cracked apart during her last appointment. She must have cracked it on a rock, playing with my mom’s dogs at her house and when the groomer went to clip it the whole bottom half came off, exposing the quick. My poor groomer must have thought I was going to blame her, but I knew there was another, far more likely, explanation.

Indoor dogs like this don't just get infected nails. So...the last person who was messing with cutting objects on my dog's foot would be the most likely responsible. It can take deep infections some time to become apparent to the human observer. JJ seems to be looking for the vet to document "the groomer nipped the nail and skin causing infection at recent grooming." But in this case, the vet just documents the care. I sure hope she gets this right.

1:51 Not two weeks later. If the nail is cut too short damaging the quick, it will bleed, and the dog will be in a lot of noticeable pain as soon as it happens. There are two distinct parts of a dogs nails, the hard outer shell is the toenail they can't feel, then the part they can feel if it is cut, like a soft center called the quick inside the nail. If the nails are trimmed regularly like this pup, the quick actually gets shorter, and is easier to avoid damaging. SO nah. Something not right here.

Hmm, didn’t bring the groomer who actually trimmed the nails. But, the plaintiff took two weeks to go to the vet. Surely the dog was limping. The dog’s nail could have been injured after going to the groomer. She waited too long.

I’m a groomer. Have been just shy of a decade - my own business half of that. If that nail was cut too short the dog would of been dripping blood at pick up or at least limping if the groomer stopped the blood before she arrived.
