Why would you charge 75% of their pay to live in the house - especially when they are still a minor? As JJ would say that's ridiculous!

It's often super shady when the adult starts playing money-moving games with the minor's account. That account is only a joint account because the law requires it for a minor. But usually the adult should only supervise as needed since it is the minor's first real contact with the financial system, and not transfer money in and out.
@xoxjanjounxox
@xoxjanjounxox 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. My father opened joined accounts for me and my brothers when we were minors, he has never transfered money into or out of it. Instead of allowance, he paid from his account our phones bills and any bills like car insurance. Our accounts was more so a place to put our cheque from work and we would use our money to buy clothes or go eat out.

I don't even want to call them this, but my mother and step-father, he doesn't really deserve that designation, stole thousands of dollars out of my bank accounts for YEARS. They forged documents with a notary my mother knew well. I had just started working a job with a decent paycheck and they told me that I wouldn't be receiving a tax return and out of their good graces they'd file my tax return with theirs. They filed my tax return and took the money from that too for about 6 or 7 years. They're both narcassists and horrible people. I'm kind of in the same situation Britney Spears is/was in where my family has full control over a large portion of my life. My parents forced me to sign documents are I'd be homeless basically.

But why? Why is a minor responsible for a household? If they want special food and snacks, or maybe extra data, sure. But the mortgage, electricity, wifi, basic food, water, etc should be paid by the guardian. If the guardian can’t afford this, they shouldn’t have children in the first place. Children aren’t pay pigs, they rely on the guardian.
@reecym1080
@reecym1080 2 жыл бұрын
@@mynameisambertoo7379 Every adult has the right how to choose to raise their children. Some may decide not to ask their children to contribute financially, others will. My mother used my contribution as an introduction to financial responsibility and it helped me to understand that the provisions in the house did not magically appear. As a result, I was more mindful and less wasteful. She certainly didn't abuse this by taking 75% of my paycheck.
@gigggiii

@@reecym1080 I think it's weird to have a child and then decide to charge them for living with you when they didn't even have a choice lol. There are certainly other ways of teaching children the value of money. But to each their own I guess.

My wife and I adopted a child at age of 4 years. When he turn 17 he got a part time and earned $2000.00. We NEVER used his money for anything we paid for his gas, insurance, food, any school activities he would attend. We also bought him a car 2020. We asked from him was to keep up his grades, attend church services, to respect others. He is now eighteen and will be joining the Marines.

She pays for EVERYTHING she needs plus whatever they want. The paycheck is sent to the join account so they hold onto the paycheck till they feel like she “deserves” it. Typically when people say "Um..." before an answer its because they are thinking of what they will say to potentially lie. JJ is trying to get them off balance so they'll trip themselves and come to find out the girl was indeed off, showing that she herself didnt know the answer and was making up one. I dont think it was malicious tho and I think JJ already knew how much she had made from the written statement

Anyone see Roald Dahl's Matilda the musical? When Matilda goes to Miss Honey's little shack and asks why she must live there. Might be paraphrasing a bit been a few months since I saw it. ....... For the third time, excellent movie. Miss Honey replied. “My father died when I was young, Magnus was his name, he was so kind, so my aunt became my legal guardian, she was cruel and mean like you cannot even imagine. Then when I became a teacher, she presented me with a bill. She had written everything down every tea bag, every gas bill, every tin of beans. She made me sign a contract to pay her back every single penny!” I guess having a joint account makes it easier.

Not going to school, is massive for her future. Sad story, really. JJ, probably researched, not having enough money to exist. The global epidemic of babies, children, families and elderly homeless. Please support the homeless.

I completely understand the cable part, think about it (lol any South Africans watching) if the house only had dstv and I was as a minor(17) was working and wanted Netflix, it’s very possible that I would offer to pay for it if she can’t cause I want it but I wouldn’t ban the other kids or people in the house from watching ?????

What i would of done is make my own account, then leave the joint account for the plaintiff so she alone can use it and just deposit 25% and the rest she could keep and save up. But 75%!??? What a thief the defendant is NO DOUBT!

Ya over here bashing the defendant but yet she is taking care of this young girl and not her sister. Yet the sister is suing! Obviously, the parents are not around. Why didn’t she just live with her sister ? SMH

She should have been more clear. It’s fine to charge a working kid but it must be clear where money is going if it’s not your kid

What is with the weird whispery way the defendant and the girl talk? Its like they are swallowing their words with their noses.
